What about Wema Bank? First Bank help us swallow Wema Bank pls,

Wema bank started off as a regional bank. So their operations which seemed distressed to a lot of people, was well within the scope of their license. They are a national bank now, but these things take time. 4-5yrs isn’t enough for their operations to get robust, not when they already carry the tag of “Yoruba bank”.

The FBN you are asking to swallow them would crash if you remove government backing. FBN is only lucky that FG would NEVER allow it go under. Like FBN, like Interswitch.

Inexperience owner has run the bank into the ground.

Union Bank owners Atlas Mara with a 49% stake has been under pressure to exit their African holdings.
Last year (February), Atlas Mara co-founder Bob Diamond announced he was resigning his post as Chairman of the company. The company said it was looking at selling off banking assets in countries where it was not the dominant player.

Unity bank is one of the biggest in the world, with its head quarters in USA.
It may be small in Nigeria but very big globally.

It saves your pen front disappearing.
Halimvh:

But I kinda like it this way. Of course, I understand that particular Union Bank branch might facing difficulty, but some banks have also adopted “no paper teller” approach.

Before Access merged with Diamond Bank, the Diamond Bank in my neighbourhood stopped using teller for depositing (definitely not because they can't afford to print it; just cost saving moves).

If you need to deposit, you write the account name and number on any piece of paper, and you hand it to them along with the money. After depositing, a single piece of receipt showing the details of the transaction will be printed and you'd go home with it as your proof of payment.

I like it this way because it reduces the time one spends in the bank (since you know the name and account you want to pay into, you can write on a piece of paper from home, enter the banking hall and join the deposit queue immediately, without having to tell anybody “bros/sister I dey behind you o but I wan go write teller”. Also, it saves you time and resources (ink) from writing all the details that's usually on the paper teller.

You said contract staffs, that is the fault of the contractor not them. You would have made a good point if they are paying their entry-level staffs lower than others.

Na their agreement with the contractor na.
But same contractors hire for other banks and they are on basic salaries. Oga, that's not an excuse. Ecobank is a useless bank and I am talking from direct and indirect experience.

No mind some people.. if a bank is strong, it should reflect on the amount it pays its staff... Am not sure Eco pays its contract staff up to 60k per month. Even UBA have join the cue of paying contract staff less than 70k.
UBA even try sef, Ecobank no dey pay their contract marketers anything. They only pay u based on the amount of accounts u open in that month. No basic or whatsoever.

but personally I think that any bank that intends to grow rapidly and sustain growth, should look at the GT Bank model and simply do copy and paste....the came with a game plan and have religiously stuck to it.

The interesting part of it was that, they were one referred to as 'students bank'. That has changed though

Hmmm. Heritage bank is to be acquired by First Bank.

Since Diamond bank was acquired by Access, the former banks customers have been having issues, just as Skye bank is when Polaris Bank acquired it.

I have stopped banking with these failing banks. Watch out for Ecobank, Keystone etc.
