I've heard good things about the north and i wish to move there. Now I'm being discouraged by family members on these following grounds,some of them have been up north before:

1.The hausas are very tribalistic.I was told they would readily hire a hausa for any job than hire a non hausa like me.
If they manage to hire me,they will readily place a hausa person over me even though he is not as qualified as I am

2.The peacefulness fluctuates.For sometimes there might be peace,later you might hear killings happening here and there especially towards non hausas(Due to Hausa people's temperaments)

3.They are watching you and waiting for you to mess up.They might attack you if you near their ladies,are against their opinions etc

Please people who have been to the north, how true is this? Cc Arrewa

What we have in most of the south western states are bunch of greedy and self centered leaders so, I agree with you on that.

I really feel if the majority of Northern youths are educated to an appreciable level, security challenge there would be minimal even though it isn’t to them alone in the country.

Texman, the only thing North produces that may not "ready" available in the East now... Is Tomatoes, Beans, Soya and Beef. The rest is also grown locally, example Abakaliki Rice, Yam from Benue.

The Core North does not produce any food because their land is half desert,
Middle Belt produce most of the food in Nigeria.

Well I can't speak for other northern States but I can speak for Kano because I was born and brought up there.... Kano is indeed beautiful, 90% of roads in Kano is properly tarred,not just only in major towns but almost everywhere

Most of these structures were constructed by the governors of the states using the same allocation granted to all governors nationwide. What is your governor doing with his own allocation?

May God bless you! Sometimes we are too fixated on the Federal Government while we allow the state governors and local government chairmen get away with daylight robbbery.

This is political propaganda. True developments comes when private individuals invests in the state. But the atmosphere of the north always discourages outsider investments

I can vouch for Gombe too when it comes to roads & rapid development, Hardly could I leave for months to a year without coming back to a significant development

These are some really beautiful pictures, I must admit, the photographer is gifted, he would do a lot more if given the opportunity to, however, these are shallow beautification projects and not the development that we need as a country, the north should focus on poverty, illiteracy, unemployment, out of school children and terrorism. Bridges, roads and flyovers are not development, they are just for eyeservice.

In my home state, with an estimated population of 7million in it's largest city, less than 21% of the people are living in poverty, while in states like sokoto, almost the inverse is the case, nearly 80% of the populace lives in poverty, these northern states need to set their priorities right.

The real development of a country is measured by the value and capability of the average citizen not resources or structures. That's why there are many countries that has less resources than Nigeria but are more developed because the value and economic output of the average Nigerian is still low.
Northern Nigeria is one of the most backward places on planet earth on the same scale as Somalia and Sudan. The average Northerner is still basically living in the 18th century and uncivilized yet. Over 80% of their population cannot read or write. Most of the population are still living in abjact poverty and malnutrition. Many still live in huts and mud houses and lack access to clean water, health care and hygiene. Many of their youths are mentally lazy and aren't capable of any intellectual task or assignments. This is why they constitute the majority of Nigerians engaged in unskilled and shabby labour such as shoe makers and okada riders. Fulani herdsmen are still practicing in nomadic lifestyles in 2020.
Arewa abi area should please answer this, how many northern youths growing up are thinking about how to create a thriving business or invent an idea that will make them millions, instead all their brain is occupied with is how many virgins Allah will give to them.
North should first civilize their minds before thinking of competing with the south.
