My Husband's Father Saw Me Half Dressed In the bedroom and still stayed

I live wih my husband and his parents in their family house and they still treat him like a young boy and Since we got married the parents doesn't respect our privacy.

I am Feeling ashamed right now after my husband's father walked into our bedroom and saw me half dressed but instead of walking away he ignored me as if I am her little daughter.

It happened that I was laying on the bed half dressed becaus I was about to sleep after my husband has slept off, and just then out of nowhere, no knock or anything my husband's father just walked into the bedroom. I had expected him to be like "oh sorry" then leave. but he didn't. He still walked up to the bed and tried to wake my husband up for a family discussion.

I was caught off guard and so ashamed even minutes after he left the room.

I don't understand why he continued in the bedroom when I was still half dressed.

I don't know how to handle this because his parents treats us as their little children of which such issues doesn't disturb them but I think they should at least knock each time they wants to come into our bedroom considering that we are married.

My husband wasn't aware of this as he was still feeling sleepy.

I don't know if I should express my displeasure with his father's attitude to him or forget about it.

This is no way near right, privacy should be respected regardless. Anyways I’ve got a whole lot of things to say but firstly, I want to understand explicitly what you meant by half naked, how exactly where you dressed?

She has way bigger problems than that...

Why would she agree to marry a guy who is still living in his parents house?

Oh wait, because they have money...

Everyone is covering up the man's fault with "lock your door". He is very wrong to enter his son's room without knocking. A wise father will know better. It is either he has no regard for his DIL or he la is discretion and wisdom
Get your own apartment!!!

Mother o, father o, whoever. You need to knock. It's common sense.

When we visited my MIL in her house, she knocked before entering our room...no matter what time of the day. That's wisdom. It's not rocket science or something advanced. It's the basic sense that a couple needs privacy.
Visited is different from staying..

Familiarity breeds contempt!!!

The new couple should get their own apartment!!!

That's not the point! In fact that would have been my advice too.

The point is that it's courtesy and common sense to knock before entering a room occupied by a husband and wife.

I agree.

However, the father lacks wisdom in his action. And that s actually th topic.

But you seem to see nothing wrong in what he did but just blaming the couple endlessly. It's his house, yes. But is what he did right? Be objective.

The Father might be a carefree type...
I think that is the way he brought them up!!

You can't be setting rule for him in his house after living with his own rules for more than 30years!!
He may not even count the appearance of his DIL when he entered the room sef!!!

The son/boy needs to grow up!!!

Get an accommodation and stop making your wife to hate your Parent!!!

It's not setting rules. The father should not even be told to knock. He's supposed to know when he's not a child.

I don't even understand why guys on this forum are defending the father's action like it's normal.

It's ok that's your stand. We can agree to disagree

That boy want to enjoy the respect of being a married man but he is not ready to get his own accomodations??
No way!!!

He must get his Apartment today!!!

If it is easy like that all of us will be married now.. Just move your young wife Into your Father's house and be forming a married man!!!

I blame the wife for agreeing to this type of set-up!!! undecided

“I don't know how to handle this because his parents treats us as their little children”. Are you a tree? MOVE, that’s how!! Did they stop you from locking your doors too? Yes, you’re little children and deserve it

seriously, so because it's his house he shouldn't respect people's privacy and opinion. You try!

Some old folks don't follow those curtseys, esp the "averagely-literate" ones irrespective of whose house it is. solution is locking the door when she is not clothed.

The lady putting such questions here is really imatured.the law of "looking more & seeing less" has being magnified by an average humans inquisitivity (that's if the old man meant any disrespect).just make a mental note to lock ur door when u not clothed, carry on like nothing hapoened.am probly sure it won't happen again

Your husband is the problem, first you should have poliletly tell to go out, and if he refuse then tell him u'll appreciate it next time if he knockessnd u don't like it, and you should have told ur husband to see his reaction I won't b surprised if he's not imagining about ur body already, make it a habit to always lock ur door cos one day he walk in wen completely naked, call ur husband and make him see the reason why u pple shud live on ur own. Don't know ur relationship with the family, but d issue is to live on your own, wish u the best
