[quote author=Glasses1 post=87534722]Long post alert!! Alhamdulilah Robil Al-Amin.... Its been a very long but fruitful journey for me... 4th January 2019, I got my refusal email on my visa application to Australia (Funny reason: Co was not satisfied that I would be able to pay subsequent fees after submitting statement of about 16 million naira (they just needed about 12 million)... Well.. long story... Moving on!! I was going to try again but alot of people wanted me to choose Canada including parents cos they say Aussie is too far... after much hesitation, and fear cos I heard Canada study visa is very difficult especially if you have been rejected once from there or another country...I was too scared to risk my money...but as God would have it, Australia cancelled my admission because of the visa refusal and said I have to wait for another 6 months or so before I can re-apply again. I lost about 500k in my refund due to conversion rate..(mi o le cry).... There and then I said let me try Canada.. The Journey! I applied to just 2 schools (Seneca college & one other one I cannot even remember) Seneca collected application fee, the other was free (still cant remember their name so dont ask me,lol.)... Seneca gave me admission in less than 2weeks, so I didnt care about the other school.. the deposit for Seneca was about 8k CAD (chicken change compared to Australia of 13,000 AUD *About 4mill naira) so I jumped on the offer and paid... Now the gist... The 16 million I used when applying to Australia was no longer available (many happenings back at home took away alot of money so we were basically broke...lol), I resigned from my job about 2 weeks after I put in my application cos I got a better job, guess what? I lost the job after another 3 weeks (long story) so after submitting my application with job, I was worried that if they do background check with the company, they would say nobody with my name existed (mo teh)...lol... so basically I was applying without plenty money nor a job..Two red flags with CA..Toor I submitted statement of account of my parents (Mom = 1.5mill naira + 3million Fixed deposit, Dad = 15,000 USD), I did not submit any of my account statement (cos na change full there)....did not want to implicate myself by myself..lol...., Submitted my SOP and letter of sponsorship (from my mother, written by me), submitted my company CAC document (note: I just registered last year and the company is for the future, hence I have never done anything with the company), submitted mom's CAC document to show she own her business, submitted dad's land document (worth 700k naira..lmao), and all other necessary serenren like passport of dad, mom, myself (note: I have never left Nigeria before *Virgin*).. What I think worked for me: With all the above, I would gladly say God first, then a convincing SOP!!!!!! SOP!!!! SOP!!!!! I cannot over emphasize this... I think I explained everything in detail such that the VO would not have any doubts or questions about all my documents..I wrote it like a story, connecting all points together (I even invited the VO for an end of year party in my village when talking about home ties) I did not have any home tie cos no property or job or anything..no wife no children... but I was able to tie my village people (lol) and the plans I have for them to my sop (dont ask me what, unless you are sending me 350k like I saw someone paid an agent here..lmao)....So I think I talked about everything in my SOP including my refusal and why they refused me even tho I know they can see, i still reported myself even blaming myself for the refusal and mentioned how I have now addressed it in this application (all na format, cos even the money no dey like that time)... So I'll repeat this, once your SOP is convincing enough, every other thing can be overlooked (to some extent oo..you still have to be reasonable with every other requirement, but if your SOP is vague, nobody cares about your millions or landed properties). I think once you write your SOP, read it out to yourself ans ask yourself if na me be VO, shey I laugh or dey excited about wetin I just read? Your answer should tell you what next to do.. Next thing is your letter of sponsor... I 'think' they like it when the person sponsoring you is directly linked to you (parents mostly)..next to boya brother or sister (with good reason) then others (which can only pass IF your explanation is the most reasonable on earth)..so if you have your parents alive, even if they do not have the money, send the funds to them from whoever is supposed to be your sponsor and write a great sponsorship letter... In my own, I made just my mom the sponsor and dad as backup reaosn was cos mumsy get moeny pass popsy at that moment and if I use popsy that means I'll be submitting his own statement of account (mistake I did with Australia)..so I only had to submit mumsy's statement and just 1 of popsy with the largest funds just as backup... so if yours is just one parent, use it well... In my sponsorship letter, I explained (as my mother) that I am sponsoring my son instead of his father cos we have planned it that way since we born am (that would make the vo see sense in why na she dey sponsor)...so basically explain the reason for everything, dont let them guess on your behalf cos u do not know to which direction they would guess and you wouldnt be there to say rara o, no be so... Finally, I believe in the saying that 'you are the only one that can help you'.. I used agent when I applied to Australia and I still believe till date that some of the things she asked me to remove from my SOP was why I did not get the VISA (Gods plan tho)..so this one I said I was going to do it myself also considering the fact that all the guys I have there did it themselves too...That way, I was able to be unique with my application and read through over and over before submitting ensuring no mistakes (cos no sorry after submission o).... So if you are educated enough, I believe you can do this yourself, use google, use nairaland, use youtube, use your head..and you would be fine (sorry if I am spoiling business for agents here, but ee gbadun toyen).. I think I have been able to inspire people here cos I always look forward to someone explaining like this when I was doing my application but no one Congratulations Gee. This is the kind of news i want to be waking up to. Bro i give it to you, from your story telling you really killed it( God's favor dey too).. Please i need your sop format and letter of sponsorship for guidance as i am starting my application asap. Tjinee4real@gmail.com 4 Likes |

drealsahmy: I will advise you consider retaking WAEC, minimum grade for most schools in CA is C5, English and Maths play a key roll. You go C6 in both, sorry mate! ♂️ PS: others can contribute on this mater, thanks. |

drealsahmy:If one school refuse you then try others na. your result is good enough to gain admission(depending on your intended course), so look for other schools offering your intended program and apply to them. |

Leave the country & settle down first, before sending anyone your SOP format because most Nigerians like to copy & paste. Someone here in my uni is facing the disciplinary committee for copying another person’s dissertation. He’s plagiarism is 87% & I’m not joking. His reason is that he working plenty shifts to pay tuition & didn’t have time to research. When they ban part time work now people will start lamenting but they still come here & misuse it. Learn how to research guys & think strategically. If you cannot draft SOP now, how you wanna write your assignments when you get there? Glasses1: 6 Likes |

Good day here, I have been following this thread for a while now. I recently gained admission for my master's program at a university in Alberta, with funding. I need guidance on the documents to provide for the study permit application. I'll be willing to answer questions further. |

SonOfaNobody:Why not read through the previous threads on the documents to submit and how to go about it. Then you can mention the documents you intend to personally submit and ask specific questions. |

Sure, I have. I'm more concerned about the sponsorship. I intend to use my uncle, do I have to include mine too? I do not have enough in it. Blema111: |

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 16 by Blema111: 10:58am On Mar 18, 2020 |
SonOfaNobody:You can use him as a sponsor then for your itineraries-flight and accommodation if you don’t have sufficient money for that in your account or prepare a deed of gift and have him transfer a reasonable sum to your account. The latter is more feasible. |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 16 by Blema111: 11:01am On Mar 18, 2020 |
Dfazz:It’s not you sending your degree certificate. It must not come from you and that’s why it’s official. I don’t know about UNN but for Unilag, you have to make a colored copy of your degree cert and take it to the senate building, they would stamp and sign, then you pay an amount of money for courier and they dispatch it immediately. So you have to go to your school and do that. |
