After he closed the boot of the car, Kess took out his phone and scroll to his dial pad, he heaved a deep sigh, hesitated a bit before calling Dorathy who quickly pick up after the second ring...

"Hello..."Dorathy voice sounded from the other end

"Are you alone..?"Kess asked

"Yeah.."Dorathy replied.."I'm in the office.."

"I just got info about some shipment coming into town.."Kess said

"What shipment...?"Dorathy return with curiosity in her voice....

"The drugs.., they're shipping them in today.."Kess said with a cringe at his watch..."12noon to be precise.."

"Where did you get the info...?"

Kess grit and look both ways to see if anyone was approaching him....
"It's not important now, I'm going to check it out.."

"Kess if it's true, you can't go there alone and moreover you're suspended, you cannot indulge in anything official duties.."

Kess sigh and glance at his watch again..."I have to do this Dorathy.., if it's true, We'll gradually be stopping the distribution of the drugs...."

"I know that.."Dorathy said..."But it's too risky Kess.., you can't go there alone.."

"Look..."Kess said gulping a dry lump in his throat..."I'm going first to check it out, assemble the men, you'll meet me there "

"Kess, it's not possible you know that.., without proper information, we cannot go there...., who told you about the shipment..?"

Kess suck on his teeth and glance at the time again..

Miranda whole body shook as she stare at the blood flowing from Harry's head, her tears running down like an open dam as her brain desperately scrambled to make sense of what just happened....

"What is wrong with you..."Lawrence latched out...."Why do you have to kill him"

One of the guys furiously march towards him and punched his face...

Lawrence sneer in pains as the man's fist slammed across his cheek almost breaking his nose in the process, he was about retaliating but a bullet hit the man before he could raise his hand to hit him back.., eyes wide open, he turn his gaze to the new intruders as Riot and the other guy opened fire...

Bullets flies out the chamber and into the air with great elegance, pushing through the air with a great speed..., in that slight moment amidst the chaos and bullet flying everywhere, another of Riot guy fell from a bullet, Lawrence seize the opportunity not even bothering to know who the other team is, he grabbed Miranda and dragged her into the bush..

Distance was all that mattered. Lawrence wasn't stopping for anything and Miranda sure as hell wasn't taking a chance to take a rest until she's far away from the men who killed her friend....

They ran through a maze of trees and winding side leaves as the sky rumbled, and rain bounced off the cobblestones. A storm smothered the sun, greying the world around them. Drops of rain beat against their skin like hammers. Miranda wasn’t at all fazed by it. Her dainty slippers were caked in mud and the storm had battered her braided hair into a tangled mess...

Just then the thoughts of Harry been shot right in front of her engulfed her senses, she lost track of everything and miss a step and quickly fell to the ground, her body clashing on leaves and thorns.....
When she scream, Lawrence ran to her to silent her...

Bitter gusts rip at her flimsy clothing as she scream into his wide palm..., and quickly she slapped his hand off her mouth as tears webbed around her eyes mixing with the rain drops and flowing down her cheek....

"I think you sprained your ankle..."Lawrence said reaching for her ankle

She quickly slap his hand off with a loud cry..."Let it be...."

Lawrence bit at his bottom lip, he look around, sigh as rain drops flow steadily down his face..., he glance up to face her again, her tears making him blame himself......

"I'm sorry..."He said crisply.."But we need to get going...."

"They killed Harry.."She latched out with tears.....

Lawrence swallowed forcefully as a rain drop filtered into his mouth, he was tasty, hungry and on the run for his life...

"Those are the same men that killed your father.. "He blare out without flinch...."I'm sorry for what happened to Harry, but we need to get going..., we need to get out of this bush..."

She sniffle and more tears and water rolled down her face..., the gunshot replaying in her head over and over again....

Without further ado, Lawrence grabbed her foot..."This is going to hurt..."

She manage to take a deep breathe before she nodded nudging him to go ahead....

He nodded, hold her foot, he saw her teeth tangled around her bottom lip but that didn't stop him, his two hands on her feet, he lifted it and with a force, he straightened her ankle..

She let out a strangled scream and feel blood well into her throat from the tongue she had just bitten through in vain attempt to keep quiet......

"This'll relieve you of the pain.."He mutter crisply, when she offered him her hand, he took it and lifted her up...

Kess covered the car with leaves and quickly packed the guns into a bag.., he zip the bag, carried it on his shoulder and ran to a nearby bush to lie in wait for the shipment....

He took out the AR-15 style rifle from the bag, load it with bullets, then he strapped himself with a pocket pistol, if it's true what the chief said, he's not taking any chances...
He glance at his time, it was 11:53 already, 7 more minutes it will be war....

"We've come all this way to save him only for him to run from us..."London said stepping out from a tree branch as the rain drop to a stop....

"If they chased you to this bush.., do you think there won't be more men waiting for you to escape from here so they can gun you down..."

"Besides my home, I have nowhere else to go..."

"Look, I don't have time for that, once I get out of this bush, I can find my way back to my house..."

The ants flowed around Kess's foot like water at first but in minutes they were splashing over his shoes and heading toward his stockinged legs. They were nothing like the harmless black ones of home either. By comparison they were weaponized, armour plated with large sharp mandibles and robotic legs. They moved almost too quickly to be tracked and took offence with everything around them, including Kess......

Kess quickly shook them off and return his gaze to the road.., he gazed at the time, it was 12:13PM.., He remembered Dario words, he said they would be here by 12, it's past 12 and there was no sign of a shipment car..., he sigh, drop the gun as the ants climbed his legs again.., he quickly step away from where they were when he realised any moment they will climb into his body..., just when he was about stepping into the road, he saw a truck heading towards his direction, a black jeep accompanying it...., gun in hand, he squatted in wait for them....

His eyes firmly on the targeted car, he aim the gun down, at the truck tyre level...., Dario was right after all.....

When the car drew closer, he slowly wrapped his fingers on the trigger and fused his eyes on the truck front tyres, when the tyre came into range, he frowned his face, tightened his grip on the trigger, preparing his whole body for a battle, he fired, the bullet raced speedily to it's target, the tyre making the driver of the truck raced to a stop after a few metres.......

Kess lay in wait to see their reaction, just then three men came out from the black jeep behind the truck, all with guns...

Kess hissed, just three men and he was actually expecting more than that....

When the three men took out their guns in search of the shooter, Kess brain sent signal to his fingers and quickly without a rethink, he open fire killing two of them in a swing while the other one ran to hide behind the jeep...

Kess came out from hiding pointing the gun in every direction ready for any surprises.., when the third man came out, Kess quickly shot him before the man could aim at him..., he watch as the man dropped down, the gun falling from his hand....
Kess turn around and quickly began to make way for the truck wondering why nobody has come down from it to shoot at him...., his heart jiggling with terror, he drew closer to the front seat, when he poke his head to look inside, he saw the muzzle of a gun.., he quickly took off his face before the guy on the drivers seat fired, the bullet almost taking Kess face out..

Kess breathe hard at the narrow escape, infuriated, he lour his head before raising it to fire back..
He hid when he realise the driver has hidden on the other side of the truck.....

"Surrender while you still have the chance..."Kess sneer tiptoeing to the edge of the vehicle.....

"Not a chance.."The guy said..

Kess swallowed forcefully as he slowly trot towards the other side of the truck...
"Damn it.."Kess sneer and came out to face him with his gun....

A muscles twitch involuntarily in the corners of his mouth when the guy point his own gun at him in a face off....

"I know you..."Kess said firmly pointing the gun at him...

The guy scoff not withdrawing his gun either..."Of course inspector..."

Kess blink trying hard to remember where he has seen him, just then it crossed his mind.....
"You..., the prince friend..."

"That was years ago..."He replied..

"You are....

"Taka in the flesh..."Taka sneer

Kess gulp a dry lump in his throat.......

"So what's it going to be inspector..."Taka ask holding his gun firmly ready for any stupid move from Kess...."Are you going to let me go or we are just going to stand here pointing guns at each other until we get bored and blow each other's brains out....."

Kess glared at him and Taka reciprocated the look, each of them not retreating, not flinching...., Without fear in their faces, they held their guns firmly at each other face......, bonded in the face of horror......
