Hi, no I'm not in U of T. Do they have a Nigerian/ Africa students Association? If you don't mind such meetings, that's often a good place to network and make friends.

Hello Guys,

How're we holding up with CoVID-19. Many developments have occurred just this weekend. In Calgary, schools (daycares, elementary and high schools) have been closed till April. I wonder how parents will cope at this time especially those that are still going to work.

Just like we've read and heard, please be safe. Keep your distance from people, only go out if you have to, otherwise stay put at home the virus is really spreading like wildfire and only us can help in preventing it.

Wash your hands as many times as you can
Avoid touching your face, even if it may be so difficult at times
Avoid touching surfaces like rails, door handles etc and if possible use your elbows instead....

That being said, the store shelves are surprisingly empty presumably due to panic buying. I understand people buying food products, antibacterial and stuff but what I don't get is the unavailability of toilet papers.
I don't understand the correlation with this ongoing pandemic. Is it to protect people or what? I still don't get it and would appreciate some enlightenment.

God protect us all and don't forget to also protect yourselves.

Peace and Love grin

Thanks for checking in o! For some reason, I think the level of scare is higher than the reality of what's on ground. I don't take my health or health issues for granted but i think the fear and panic is uncalled for. Guys let knowledge lead our action, read up on available information when you can and follow the advise given by health officials but don't live your life out of fear.

meanwhile, my employer should tell us to stay at home na!

You're welcome dear. Yes, the panic is worse than the disease itself but I can't fault people from getting scared. Just like me, a lot of people don't want to fall sick takeless of getting infected with a virus that has no cure and is killing people. May God help us o.

Anyways, about employer, I'm sure there are some jobs that can't be done from home. Let's wait and see how this week will unfold.

Yes those working from home are lucky. Unfortunately, not all jobs can be done from home. We'll continue to maintain necessary precautions and stay safe.

Oh okay no P, I guess you're a working adult then. We do but honestly the drama in the NSA associations at York and UofT is just too much so undecided , PLUS this quarantine we're all facing is preventing somebody from leaving their house so I dunno what to do lool

Hello Naija Canadians,

So I've been in Canada for about a year, Calgary to be precise. It's really a beautiful place with its own challenges for new immigrants like me.
I understand this place can be fast paced, trying to settle in can be quite a struggle. Now that you're settled, you just realize that the time spent is hovered around work with little time to mingle or hang out.

That's the reason for this Thread grin grin

To enhance connections with fellow other single Nigerians .

If you're married, this is the wrong thread for you...go meet your spouse angry undecided undecided, if you're engaged, same goes for you too.

This is for purely single men and women who are willing to connect with one another and possibly start meaningful relationships.
Please don't be too reserved to utilize this platform...

You never can tell your FUTURE PARTNER, FUTURE COWORKER, FUTURE PADDY might be in this group wink wink cheesy

Come on Leggo‍♀️‍♂️‍♂️‍♀️‍♀️‍♂️

Hey there, I'm based out in Calgary too and looking to meet young people. I'm newly married though, is being married a disease? Anyways, I'm tired of the family WhatsApp groups and having just older people around...just interested in meeting young people who I can roll with and all. I miss having a clique like I had back in Naija.

I hope it doesn't get worse too but in reality it's really bad at the moment. I'm sure it will pass just like the way Ebola disappeared quickly. Right now I'm more worried about the new cases found in Nigeria. It's really going to affect lots of businesses and the economy as a whole and unlike Canada, the government won't cater for the people. Let's just pray for a cure to be discovered quickly. May God help us all

Hello people,

I will be moving to Calgary with my family in May (covid-19 beware) and I need all the support I can get from all my seniors. Me, I don't mind joining the family whatsapp groups oooo, biko, I just need help to settle in. I have plenty questions ranging from shopping list to best choice of school for the kids.

If you are already in Calgary, please contact me on my email : lope.debby@gmail.com.
