COVID-19: Drama As Air Peace Stops Asaba-bound Passenger by Ctorch: 9:54pm On Mar 20, 2020 |
Air Peace, today, stopped a passenger billed to travel from Lagos to Asaba, Delta State over fears of coronavirus. It was learnt that the passenger was isolated by the airline’s coronavirus screening team when the passenger was discovered to be “very sick.” Daily Trust reports that Air Peace had initially deployed personnel at every airport it operates as part of measures to contain the spread of the virus. The airline conducts temperature checks on passengers and provide them hand sanitizer while anyone with high temperature is referred to Port Health. Our correspondent learnt that when the temperature of the passenger was checked, he was found to be very sick while his temperature was “very high.” He was subsequently isolated and the airline informed the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and the Port Health. A source hinted that the affected passenger recently returned from the United Kingdom and he had been taken to hospital without the knowledge of the Lagos State Government or the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC). There was a mild drama at the MMA2 when other passengers and airport users kept distance from him as he was isolated. The Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Air Peace, Mrs. Toyin Olajide, who confirmed the incident said the passenger was checked in by proxy apparently to avoid being noticed. She said the management of the airline had deployed staff who strictly monitor passengers checked in by agents, especially since the COVID-19 pandemic broke out.
