Nigeria Confirms 10 New Cases Of Coronavirus by TheSaxophonist: 2:49pm On Mar 21, 2020
The Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH) has confirmed 10 (ten) new cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Nigeria.

The ministry made the announcement via a release signed by the Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire.

According to the ministry, there are three new cases in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and seven new cases in Lagos State.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases in Nigeria to 22.

According to the release, “All 10 new cases are Nigerian nationals; nine of them have travel history to the Canada, France, Netherlands, Spain and United Kingdom. They returned to the country in the past one week. The tenth case is a close contact of a previously confirmed case.

“The three cases in the FCT are being treated at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital (UATH), Gwagwalada while the 7 (seven) new cases in Lagos are being treated at the Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH), Yaba. All 10 (ten) new cases have mild to moderate symptoms and are currently receiving treatment.

“As of the 21st of March 2020, 22 cases have been confirmed, two cases have been discharged and there has been no death from COVID-19 in Nigeria.

“The Federal Government of Nigeria remains committed to working with states to provide optimal care for all confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country.

“Contact tracing is ongoing to identify all persons who have been in contact with the new confirmed cases. The Port Health Services of the Federal Ministry of Health has heightened screening at all air, land and sea points of entry into Nigeria and adapted the protocols to reflect the travel guidance issued by the Presidential Task Force on the Control of Coronavirus (COVID-19).

“The National Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) led by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) supported by partners continues to coordinate response activities and strengthen preparedness capacity across states nationwide. An intensive national risk communications campaign is ongoing to inform Nigerians about COVID-19. The Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH) working closely with states and the Presidential Task Force on the Control of Coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to review response activities and institute measures to protect the health of Nigerians.”

It's just yesterday I was made to understand this virus didn't occur naturally, but a failure of laboratory activity in China.

If that is the case, I still dont understand why the global economic migrants remained quiet about the failure of an almighty China, rather, their energies are directed to Buhari for several reasons on same virus.

Why some people so hit by complex that they can even insult the hell outta their parents because of oyibo?

Re: Nigeria Confirms 10 New Cases Of Coronavirus by Hoephase: 3:18pm On Mar 21, 2020
The problem with Nigeria is that we never plan we are also reacting instead of taking initiative like other countries. EU are still biting their fingers for not reacting early, yet we still allow people from high risk area to come and go as pleased.

Seeing what is going on in Italy and for EU to put their country on lock down this is not a joking matter.

In fact our best option would have been to close borders and take it from there. Now that we have enough cases quarantine is not going to be effective in Nigeria.. Majority of the population work in the informal sector, how on earth are we going to keep them indoors for a considerable number of days unless we declare state of emergency and place 24 hours curfew.

Please those people with big brains on the forum should come forward with their take on this matter.

We talk ham.

The Federal Government weren't proactive as it should. But notwithstanding this is the time to be more patriotic than ever.

Our prayers are with the FG and all the health agencies fighting covid-19.

More wisdom to anybody searching and researching for the vaccine..

For the past few days I have been advocating social distancing on Nairaland but no one is listening. Mods refused to put the thread I opened on it on frontpage. Guys, we need to practise social distancing if we are to survive this thing I swear.

Watch and listen to Will Smith talk about why Social Distancing is key to containing the spread of Corona Virus. This is a MUST WATCH!!!

My major concern is that these Nigerians who are infected (and would be infected), receive the same level/standard of care the Italian got.

shocked

One of buhari's numerous achievements

He is on a mission to make it 1 million confirmed cases before the end of this month when he stupidly, foolishly and intentionally left open our borders for coronavirus

I promise him, he will not be left out together with all his children and his zombisifed urchins that brought him to power.

Stay safe people!
