The Lagos State Ministry of Health says passengers aboard British Airways’ Flight 74 and KLM Flight 587 are exposed to confirmed cases of coronavirus.

The ministry via its verified Twitter handle said the two flights arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport on Wednesday, March 18.

It advised the concerned passengers to “observe strict self-isolation and reach out” as soon as possible to prevent community transmission of the deadly virus which has killed over 12,000 persons globally, according to an AFP tally on Saturday. The PUNCH reports that Nigeria’s confirmed coronavirus cases spiked from 12 to 22 on Saturday with Lagos recording seven fresh cases.

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority announced the closure of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport and the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja, effective Monday, March 23, to forestall further importation of the ravaging virus which has infected over 200,000 persons world over.

Not true.

You cannot quarantine all incoming travelers.

The best you can do is request they self-isolate and institute a fine should they be found outside.

No country would quarantine thousands of incoming visitors - none.

Yoi either close your borders or suggest self-isolation.

You only quarantine confirmed cases.

All incoming passengers into China face a mandatory 14 day quarantine at designated Hotels. They are all tested during this period.

The best thing that happened last week was Coronavirus getting into Abuja. If 3 people in Abuja were not infected, those blockheads in Abuja won't have stopped all incoming international flights.

Our neighbors Benin Rep. Is quarantining anybody for 14days that comes into the country, even through land borders. That's how serious countries respond to an impending danger and pandemic. Self isolation is a deceit and a. Fast. Way to spread the Virus. Quarantine anybody that comes into the country for 14days.
Hope we heard 748 persons died in 1 day in Italy from this virus. We have to take strict measures in checkmating the COVID-19 pandemic

Oga, you are very wrong. There are several countries who currently quarantine ALL incoming travellers. Estonia, Finland, Poland, Costa Rica all subject incoming travellers to 14 days mandatory quarantine.

Others like Sudan, Colombia, Morocco shut their borders totally.

Why should Nigerians be exposed to this deadly virus?.It is self defeating to expose a larger citizens to a pandemic of this magnitude especially when the Country they are coming from has banned flights to and from other nations.is it because of the Pound Sterling we want to collect that is driving us crazy like this? let the Federal government and Lagos State Govt do the needful .

This is not what we want in our darling nation presently.

The main reason why the president need to address the nation because passengers on both flight might have travelled out to other states of the federation, the only way they can broadcast this information is true national TV so that this information will go round 36states including FCT..

Lagos state and Sanwo olu cannot do this alone .
