Extracting gas costs a lot of money. You have to process it and it is not cheap. You have to pipe it and building pipelines to carry the gas is not cheap at more than $5m per mile. The fact is that Anambra state government cannot do big projects with a budget of 100-150b which is not even up to $500m. Not when revenue this year will most likely fall by at least 40% due to a collapse in oil prices. Last year they had revenue of around 97b Naira or $269m. $269m is nothing. Obiano should focus on the International Conference Center as his legacy and use donor support for every other infrastructure (roads, water, health). If he can get AFDB to fund the airport well and good but its not likely since states need Federal approval to take international loans and it will not pass a feasibility test by aviation experts (and I have friends in that field). Fact is that with a $269m government revenue profile Anambra needs massive donor assistance. The FGN is already working on the Umunya-Amawbia section of the expressway which is well constructed to international standards by RCC compared to the substandard rubbish IDC built between Amawbia and Government House by Obiano and friends. The environmental erosion problems are also donor funded which has helped tremendously. hammerT: 4 Likes 1 Share |

mktinsight:What’s your problem with Anambra cargo Airport? Just chill and watch out in few months then you will know if we are joking then you have every right to mock us, Anambra is aggressively building standard airport with international contractors handling the project, I know many of you were doubtful earlier, today we are doing it, Anambra State is not just constructing international cargo airport, Orient Petroleum also want to use the airport for selling their aviation fuel, it's a win win situation to Anambarians, Anambra Airport is a sure airport that will boost of traffic, I know it will affect other airports around us, that's why many of you are against the project, 99.9% of Anambarians has been clamoring for this airport since 90s, so no need wasting your energy writing long epistle, you can't stop the project, just chill and watch out this is the road to Anambra greatness 3 Likes |

Mktinsight is a cursed fellow, you people shouldn't kill him yet. Let for me, he should be stoned to death. His evil machination is to always come here to bring confusion among Anambrans, but he has consistently failed, as most Anambra people sees through his evil scheme. He did the same thing when omambaladotcom was floated, he relocated to that site and continued his tirade until that site packed up and now he is back here. We shall never allow him have his way on this thread. We shall always make sure he doesn't tell our story through his bitter frustrated prism. We must tell our stories ourselves. Mktinsight, you should go and die, because everyone here is aware of your evil, we can't let it fly here. 2 Likes |

Abohboy: There are many things we need to get Anambra Economy on the way. We will never attain these things if we dont put the right infrastructurein place. Whether it is River or Sea really doesnt matter, wat matters is the infrastructure that we put in place to increase economic efficiency. Building top-notch projects and abandoning it due to one bottleneck or another is still a HUGE problem with our projects. All those people who their markets are being destroyed everywhere, why can't they come together as a group to take over this market as a warehousing market? The medical equipment and pharmaceutical markets at bridgehead can relocate to this place and even other artisan groups such as shoe markers can use the site. Instead of developing our own sites, folks are busy looking for more swamps in Lagos and deserts in Kano to sink billions of naira and turn into markets. Which they will lose in the next 5 years, and they will start all over from scratch like a cursed people. The Anambra State government should revoke the land immediately for incompletion of the project and breach of public safety and security, which the place has constituted. Then hand the area to a serious investor that will bring this project to life ASAP. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nsAjQYr3m9g 3 Likes 1 Share |

If wishes were horses beggars would ride. If Anambra State wants to build a VIABLE airport with its pitiful budget it would build a DOMESTIC one for domestic feeder aircraft. That is for 12 seater and 50 seater aircrafts. The small airports you see in island countries and small towns in the US. IN Africa you have small airports like Wilson Airport in Nairobi and Polokwane Airport in South Africa. THAT makes sense and is Feasible and could be built for less than 15 billion naira. THAT is the kind of airport needed in 90% of Nigerian states not large expensive airports with no traffic. That is because geographically Nigeria is the size of Texas and how many international airports do they have? South Africa that is 1.5x the size of Nigeria and gets 2x air traffic only has 4 large international airports so why does Nigeria need large international airports in 8 or is it now 10 states? States need smaller feeder domestic airports and regionally you only need large international airports in Lagos, Port Harcourt, Enugu and Abuja. Not Kano, not Asaba or Umueri or Owerri or Gombe. As for the idea of copying Owerris cargo airport format. How much cargo goes to Owerri? Owerri airport is largely domestic. Besides Nigeria doesn't have a large market for air freight. Go to Lagos. The cargo wing is not that BUSY because moving goods by air is expensive. Meanwhile contrast with Apapa congestion. Most goods come by sea in Nigeria and everywhere around the world where air freight accounts for 2% of total cargo. The reality is that the government of Obiano does things in a haphazard manner. They commit to a project without undertaking a feasibility study and going through the process. Fact is that a large international airport in Anambra will fail for the same reason Asaba has failed to attract any international flights. Ethiopian does not want to fly there nor KLM or Emirates. Asaba after over 50b committed only boasts of Air Peace and Overland. It generates only 100m naira a year for Delta state government. Enugu airport that has been running an international flight for the last 5 years has only attracted Ethiopian because of the China route. Every other airline has looked at the domestic traffic and passed on it. Last I heard Emirates requested connecting from Abuja to pick up passengers there because there is not enough demand to fill its large plane on direct routes but the runway was an issue. mktinsight:Like I said stop wasting your energy, initially you were arguing there was no feasibility study and others before the takeoff until I provided the evidence, you can't be arguing on what you have little knowledge on, the airport is ongoing already, just chill and watch out, if cargo airport doesn't work in Imo state it dosent mean it will not work in Anambra, Anambra is hub of Commerce and industry in East, most of cargo importers and exporters are Anambarians, we know the stress our people go through to export Agro products to US and UK using MMIA Lagos, mind you the cargo airport is very close to Agro belt areas both within and outside the state, Benue and Kogi, like I said earlier the Airport is designed to serve as aviation fuel selling point for Orient Petroleum, stop stressing yourself, allow Anambra to do their thing, you don't know more than great minds involve in the project, the state government involved major stakeholders before embarking on the project, we don’t need to beg any airline our own AirPeace will service the route. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Anambra State is the Second Developed state in Nigeria Anambra State is the 8th populate state and Second Densely populated state in nigeria and the state population is growing out of hand. Anambra is the 3rd industrialized state in nigeria Anambra is the second urbanized state in nigeria Anambra has the fourth largest economy in nigeria after Lagos, Porthacourt and Abuja Anambra has the largest market in Africa in terms of Landmass, Area, geographical and volume of goods and services. Over 60% of goods and services imported in Lagos are owned by Anambrarian and they are coming to Anambra State Onitsha is the Economy hub of West Africa Anambra State Still, experts and locals call this area the ‘light of Nigeria’ because it has all the chances to even outgrow Lagos and Abuja in the future. Anambra State is the 8th state with highest number of natural resources in nigeria and 99% of them are untapped. Anambra State has the largest natural resources more than all states in Southern Nigeria Anambra State has many natural resources. Besides, local soils are arable, and this gives amazing opportunities for developing agro-based industries (farming, fisheries, pasturing, etc.) and building future businesses that could become the basis of the Nigerian economy. My dear Anambra needs international cargo airport, Seaport more than every other states even Lagos. 4 Likes |
