On Sunday evening, a twenty three second video surfaced on the internet showing President Buhari speaking on the outbreak of the disease in the country. This came after critics and the Nigerian Senate called on the president to address Nigerians on what his administration is doing to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Bashir Ahmed, the president’s media aide, also reposted the version of the clip which appeared to have been edited.

We are working with the Federal Ministry of Health on protecting our citizens from #COVID-19. As a government, this is now a key priority for us,” the president is heard saying in the video clip which showed he was addressing an audience.

I therefore enjoin you to ensure that adequate medical provisions and other welfare requirements are afforded,” he said before the clip abruptly ended.

We should be happy that Covik- one nine virus has brought his overseas travelings to a stop!
Bubu has got nothing to lose, he's enjoying his retirement life as a President while his mates are queing and waiting for pensions to be paid.

His pronunciation of COVID as "COVIK" could be understandable because of his accent. However anyone who calls it "ONE NINE" instead of NINETEEN certainly have little or no idea about what is going on and has not been following both local and international news.

If after taking weeks to learn how to pronounce COVID - 19 before addressing Nigerians, this is the best he can offer, then there is a serious problem.

Imagine if he had to pronounce CORONA VIRUS.

In conclusion Nigerians major on the minor and minor in the major.

-The illiterate cow has to be the dumbest president currently on earth. I mean even primary school kids can effortlessly pronounce the virus name. The man is definitely brain dead, no doubt about that.

Buhari never fails at any slight opportunity to disgrace the entire nation when it comes to stuffs like this. The president of Rwanda even made a video of himself demonstrating some safety practices to put in place, while this one could hardly pronounce the virus, despite many weeks of rehearsing the useless speech written for him

All the ungoing projects should be paused for now, the masses need assured palliatives from govt this trying times. Food, provisions, drugs, funding emergency services, etc should be their priority for now. I hope they will listen to this unlike the way they handled our calls for border closure for over 3 weeks

Nigeria will win this war as other nations of the world.

We are working with the Federal Ministry of Health on protecting our citizens from #COVID-19. As a government, this is now a key priority for us,” the president is heard saying in the video clip which showed he was addressing an audience.

“I therefore enjoin you to ensure that adequate medical provisions and other welfare requirements are afforded,” he said before the clip abruptly ended.
To prevent the spread of cases imported into Nigeria, the President has already ordered the restrictions of travel from 13 countries, each with more than 1,000 confirmed cases of Covid-19. Government has also suspended visas issued to nationals of these countries. The restriction will take effect from March 21 and will remain until further notice. While Nigeria delights in welcoming the world, the safety and protection of our citizens and land must take priority.

The various agencies of government including Media owned by the government have embarked on vigorous campaigns promoting hygiene measures. There are, currently, very stringent regimes of checks at the points of air and sea entry into the country. The effort Nigeria is making as is well known, has already received the commendation of the World Health Organisation (WHO).

The Presidency wishes to assure Nigerians that government is on top of the situation. There is no cause for panic. So far measures put in place are working efficiently. What this country is doing has been recommended as a template.

The President instructed the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) to reduce the pump price of fuel. The Covid-19 pandemic has led to a crash in the global price of crude oil, and the President decided that every Nigerian should benefit from this.

God bless our darling Daddy President Muhammadu Buhari and his AMIABLE Vice President PROF YEMI OSINBAJO as they are doing all they can to curtail this deadly virus all over our nation.

For the swines praying the virus should spread all over our darling nation,
so they can have something to celebrate and gloat about,
we won't wish them bad, we will only advice them to be very careful what they wish for, so that it won't start from their abodes.
Karma issa bad bitch!

(You will see such irritants quoting this comment now....watch out for the miserable 2 time losers! tongue)

EgunMogaji2:

Absolutely.
I don’t even know why he gave the speech.
He should continue to step out of the way and let the ministers of various departments do their jobs.
Long live the Republic of Nigeria.
Long live the General.
danniyal:
It baffles me how young people from the southern part of the country don't have respect for elders or any constituted authority. Does that mean you don't respect your parents as well? You insulted president Obasanjo, Yaradua, Jonathan and now Buhari. This is a president for God's sake. You are probably using the tecno phone your mother bought for you to insult the president. Do you know what it means to emerge the president of Nigeria? You can disagree with his policies, that's perfectly ok but don't insult him as a person
It is always good and refreshing to see that we still have reasonable members on this forum.
We know those that are with the President are more than the ones against him.
That could be the only reason he defeated their stealing gods twice, the first time unprecedented in the history of Nigeria.
God bless you all.
Nigeria will be great again in our lifetime.

Once again, God bless Nigeria.

fk002:

God bless our darling president just know that if you only have one like then I am the one that gave you that like. I will always give you my likes whenever I see your comment because of the love you have for President Muhammadu Buhar and the country at large.

May God be with you wherever you are. You are a patriot.
A Very Big Amen.
God bless you too sir.
A better Nigeria is all we want.
Nigeria will be great again in our lifetime.
Once again,
God bless you and yours.
Stay blessed.

So many dumb children on Nairaland.

Ok, he might pronounce Covid as covik perhaps due to his accent, but can you also not use "one Nine" in place of "nineteen"?
I don't know why you children always act this way.

Same screaming here are the same ones who pronounce "ask" as "aks" o grin
