It's disappointing that someone who may actually be a Nigerian thinks this way! Nigerians aren't the only online frauds in the world! Yes, you may say that they are notorious.

Perhaps, it's the fact that someone mentioned the Nigerian scam that got you confused. In that post, the individual did not say that's what was happening in this case to start with. And again, the term "Nigerian scam" doesn't necessarily mean the scam is carried out by a Nigerian!

I guess that played a huge role in this

A guy was asking if an email he got from an acclaimed Japanese broker is legit. People answered that its a certain type of domain scam. In fact they littered the thread with examples of the same types of emails they received which was a scam.

While the screenshot I posted, the guy said the Japanese scam is more slightly better worded than the obvious Nigerian scam attempts.

Someone was just making a reference about scamming and you are asking me if I know or do I have proof that it was a Nigerian that committed the scam.Lol

And its funny that I'll came across a post on namepros where Nigeria is used on the same line with scammers.

I don't know why "Nigerian scammer" would mean different thing. Probably a Russian scammer abi?

And people do specify the scam carried out by individuals they are talking about. E.g Nigerian scammer, Chinese scammer, Japanese scammer, Russian scammer... and don't ask me how I know that, ask them.
