As Nigerians we see progress according to our own reality. The average Nigerian thinks because of the fact that a bunch of his/her friends use an Iphone or drive luxury cars, then the statement "Nigerians are very rich” is correct. We are so poor as a country that the per capita income of Nigeria is $2,222- This means the average Nigerian earns ₦799,920 yearly, not exaggerating but most people earn less. When you earn approx. 800k yearly, how much will you spend on Rent? Food? Transport? Medicals? When I first came to Lagos, my friend showed me the sellers on the road and said "these guys are working very hard only to eat and give everything to their landlords" . Most Nigerians do not have disposable income ( this is money that a person has as left over after all of his required expenses have been paid) When put in comparison, a person with disposable income will enjoy a better standard of living than the person without. Qatar has the highest per capita income in the world -$69,688 which means the average Qatari earns roughly ₦25,087,680 yearly. It is almost certain that people without any disposable income believe that their ‘village people’ are always after them, so they run to religious houses seeking some form of Miracle or Financial breakthrough. Have you ever wondered why there are no luxury brands like APPLE, GUCCI, FENDI, VERSACE, LOUIS VUITTON, MERCEDES-BENZ, DOLCE&GABBANA, HERMES in Nigeria? The answer is Simple, Nigerians cannot afford these brands, we are too poor to think of buying non essential items. Most of what we see is either fake or fairly used. The Problem of Nigeria is an Economic problem and it will only get worse if we do not start asking the critical questions like how to double our GDP, Security, heathcare etc 1 Like |

-Most Nigerians absolutely have no chance in hell for a decent living. -As a single person in Nigeria, if you don’t earn atleast 1,020,000 Naira (inclusive 300,000 per annum for rents) after Tax, the politicians are cheating on you. |
