My only advice to those that need some guide in pricing their GEO NAMES is to first research things like the price of that service in that particular town. Is it a one man business, or a company with several people?

E.g. A tow truck company that charges an average of $50 per tow, depending on distance, will report your pitch of $1000 as spam.

E.g. You may be selling yourself short for pitching $100 to a cosmetic surgery private practice in LA that charges clients $5k per procedure.

This is the reason I don't like harvesting emails for outbounding, cos you hardly know the companies. I prefer visiting each prospect's website, know their service cost, and price safely.

For a particular name, I may have different prices for different prospects in the same town. Outbounding is tough when done the right way (laser research).

Meanwhile, let's all be safe on this period. No handshakes, no hugs, wash hands several times a day with soap, use sanitizers too if you have them, cover your mouth with your elbow when coughing, stay away from crowds, and keep your hands away from your face. First, I never quote price in my first mail. I encourage them to make an offer. Few do, most don't.

Depending on the strategy I am testing out::

Some landers, I leave at Make Offer

Some I set BIN

Before starting outbound for any name, I already have an upper limit in mind. So when setting a lander BIN, I set it higher than the upper limit I have in mind.

E.g.
If I aim for 2k upper, and 850 lower for a name, I may set a BIN of 2.6k. This way, if someone requests for price, I will start at say, 2.3k

If this person had already seen the lander, then I have already placed him in a good psychological place, which has gotten him to falsely feel he is already getting a discount.

Depending on his pocket and bargaining power, if I reduce it to 2k, he is already seeing a 600 discount without knowing I haven't even given him any real discount.

There are MANY angles to this strategy, and NONE is a sure banker. We just keep testing.

PS.
When I said I have different prices for different companies for the same name, don't get me wrong. For 50 companies, I cannot have 50 different prices. There are names I have same starting price for all outbounds. For those names I vary the price, I create about 2 or 3 price groups.

I've had by far the highest response rate today since I started domain outbound. Even those who never replied before did.

What did I do differently?

My subject carried a question mark I.e Nigerian caterer? Caterer in Nigeria?

Salutation was Hey Username or Hi Username.


Body of mail was straight to the point: Are you interested in getting/owning/having/purchasing/etc nairaland.com for your business?.. (paraphrased)

Closing included a link to my twitter page

Reason for the question: I haven't been active on Twitter and just created an account with no follower or tweets. So I believe it won't be ideal to add such account to my email signature.

What do you suggest?

But I like to include twitter because my account is fairly active, I've got fellow domainers and registrar accounts following me, plus I post often about domain names. The endpoint is just to boost credibility.
