Benue State has confirmed its first case of coronavirus. Governor of the state, Samuel Ortom, just confirmed the case.

The Nigerian government, late Friday, recorded 11 new cases of the Covid-19 pandemic, bringing the total number to 81 in the country. However, with the new confirmed case in Benue, the number will now be 82 in the country. The The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) is yet to update its data.

The NCDC has posted on its official Twitter handle (@ncdcgov) late Friday that: “11 new cases of #COVID19 have been reported in Nigeria: 8 in Lagos, 2 in Enugu & 1 in Edo State. “As at 11:55pm 27th March, there are 81 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria. 3 have been discharged with 1 death.”

The breakdown indicated that Lagos State is the most hit with 52 persons having the virus while the Federal Capital Territory is second with 14 confirmed cases. Ogun and Oyo has three each as Enugu, Edo and Bauchi are with two cases each. Rivers Osun and Ekiti has a case each.

With the confirmation by the Bunue State Government, the virus is now in 11 Nigerian states as 26 others have not recorded any case. Benue becomes the second state in North Central with a case of the virus.

Note that the confirmed cases are only of those that have been tested. Thousands of people are yet to be tested.

Please read this carefully. Many Nigerians will get coronavirus, suffer the symptoms and recover from it without even knowing. REASON: We do not take tests in Nigeria.

I have seen Nigerians online make jest of South Africa because of their HIV positive percentage. Do you know the number of HIV positive people in Nigeria might be more than South Africa? South Africans are used to testing. Nigerians will not take a test unless the ailment is almost killing them. Most people who found out they are HIV positive in Nigeria found out when they were very sick. The hospital did a test and told. Some find out during medical tests for a job or visa. WE DO NOT TEST.

The government too do not take testing seriously. Why can't they providing testing centres in Teaching and General Hospitals across the country and make the test free. They can also make it mandatory. You will see that the number of people already with Covid 19 in Nigeria are over a thousand.

Finally, a law should be passed that all public office holders must make their health situation public. Imagine FG using Buhari's health to gamble with Nigerians' intelligence.

Most of these Governors brought this on their people. Why didn't they close the borders when it was flying within other states?
