I felt same when I took the first TT. Infact the pain was severe I couldn't sleep well for days. However the second wasn't painful and I thought the first nurse gave it wrongly. Nevertheless the pain will subside, just bear the a little.

Ma bi layo l’Oluwa wi
Ma bi layo l’Oluwa so
Ma bi layo, Ma bi layo o
Ma bi layo l’Oluwa so

We sang this church every Sunday we had our pregnant women meeting. I’m not Yoruba, but I think it means:

“God has declared that I’ll give birth in joy”
“God has said that I’ll give birth in joy”
“I’ll give birth in Joy, I’ll give birth in joy”
“God has said that I’ll give birth in joy”

I’ll try not to make this BS part 2 of mama Beyedew’s BS cheesy
So my baby’s due date was 15th March(as speculated by the 2 hospitals I used) but the date came and passed and so my doctor and I set up for us to induce labour on Friday, 20th March.

Got to the hospital Friday evening and was told that labour would be induced the next day Saturday, I was then given a bed space. Very early Saturday morning, the doctor came in, and I was induced around 5:30am. I started feeling mild contractions around 6:30am. I kept timing it till proper contraction kicked off sometime around 8am. That was when reality set in!

As at this time, I was 3cm gone. So I knew I still had a long way to go. By the way, checking how far one has dilated is not as easy as it is said o. I’ve always been scared of penetration (please don’t look at me like what kind of penetration brought you here undecided ) I believe only the D should go in there. 5 fingers? Mbanu!

The doctor came to check me again by 11am and I was still 3cm+ gone. I wanted to lose my mind. It was hard to believe that I was in excruciating pain and I wasn’t making huge progress as such. By 1pm, I was in another world. I kept screaming “Lord have mercy o”, “Oh my God”, “Father , come through for me o”, “Mummy o”, “Lord, I’m tired” My mother in-law will tell me “No, say Lord give me the strength”

I noticed that while I was in deep contractions, I would fall asleep for a few seconds, and even snore as well till the contraction hits again. This went on back to back. I would call my mother in-law to massage my back while the contraction was hitting me hard.

This went on till the doctor came to check me by 4pm and said I was 7cm gone, but since my water had not broken, they would have to rupture it themselves. The only food I had had at that time was very light pap and one small portion of moi moi. My husband got me jollof rice but I think I ate 4 spoons alone. So I was still hungry but food was the least of my problems.

8cm gone, and I was already having the urge to push. I was encouraged to hold on. By this time, I was grabbing and pulling everything my hand could reach. My mother in-law was still massaging my back as each contraction hits. She had sore arms that day.

Finally 10cm, around 5pm and I was given the green light with some rules. Push when the next contraction hits, , spread your legs, hold your legs like this, raise your head to look at your navel etc.

4 pushes and my baby was out giving me some tears. I heard her scream and I had never felt more fulfilled.

I was stitched and the midwife cleaned me up. My husband and mother in-law came to check me. We teased each other about my baby’s looks, and I sent him for food. I was with the midwife alone now, she helped me stand up to my feet that was when trouble set in!

I realized I was dizzy, and I quickly told her. She helped me sit and I think she asked “Do you feel better?” Can’t remember, cos I blacked out. I don’t know for how long, but I came to hearing the voice of my mother in-law crying and praying with so much sorrow in her voice in deep Urhobo. I opened my eyes, and I saw about 5 doctors in front of me, including the midwife. They kept tapping me mildly and saying “Mrs xxxxxxx, how do you feel now?” And I responded. I was taken back to theatre, and operated. I lost a lot of blood and took a pint of blood and another the next day.

At the end, I give God the glory. My husband who was always forming “I be street boy”. The man cried that day grin

There you go mamas; my Birth Story. I pray yours come easier kiss
All thanks to God Almighty. Congratulations ma'am. We thank God for you. May God keep and nurture your baby.

BS
Part 3

I came here to announce the birth of my baby, sent pictures to friends and even received some calls; feeling cool and nice and in control lol

Unknown to me, there was a gang up. One of the nurses came in and replaced my drip and I started feeling funky, asked her what she gave me and she said she added something to help me sleep. I told her she shouldn’t have and I passed out while saying it lol.

Reports from my siblings, backed up with voice recordings the next day suggested that I slept but I wasn’t really asleep. I kept chiming in in their conversation, telling my sister to use qtip to clean baby’s nose and to cover his hands with mitten, even greeted visitors that came that night lol

The next day, I was floating and feeling cool. My sis was a whole lot of help, taking care of baby while I slept like I hadn’t slept in 5 years and husband was joggling work and school run for DD

The next day when I came to, I was eager to move around. I needed the cathether out!! I got off the bed by 2pm on the 4th and even tried breastfeeding because Mr. Baby kept spitting up after every formula feed. I saw that my milk already came in so it was bye-bye formula. Hopefully he doesn’t reject formula at 6 months too

At the end of the day, I was thankful my doctor didn’t listen to me at all. The last time he did and I almost paid with my life, Bp wonderfully shot up to 250 that night and my heart almost stopped. Then after I was discharged, I had bad water retention up to 4 weeks post partum, had drainage from my incision for 6 weeks, my incision was still open on the left side till the 7th week. I had bad panic attack for many months anytime I remembered what I went through. But now, I’m 3 weeks postpartum and I’m feeling like my old self, doing things I used to do though with caution, incision is healed and difficult to detect, vigilante is kinda real but not so bad, feet got swollen 3 days before my CS and it’s already back to normal now, and above all, DD accepted her brother and made this whole mum of two under two thing so easy. She’s always kissing him and wiping imaginary tears off his face with his bib or her hand, always eager to help out, runs to check what’s wrong with him when she hears him crying.

Second time is a charm for me. DD is her dad’s spitting image’, in complexion, same bent nails on same toes and fingers, same mannerisms. My boy has my complexion and some of my features even though he is starting to look like his dad, thanks to his very strong genes. I don’t mind even though e pain me.

God indeed makes all things beautiful in his time and he truly knows what’s best for us. I have never felt more complete and at peace. Now I’m looking forward to when they’re 4 and 2, fighting over toys and the silliest of things and reporting each other to me lol. or much later in life when they’re there for each other, coming through for one another and making me proud

This my boot has been locked in a box, buried and key thrown away into the ocean.

Thank you all for coming on this journey with me.
I hope I didn’t “west” your “thyme” tongue cheesy

Stay safe sisters

I await the testimonies of all GTC mamas

Bodies differs as we reacts to things differently.

Some people had bad reactions to zobo as it causes contractions when taken too much.
Pepper soup made with uda and uziza should be avoided .
No alcohol drink. Go low with pineapple at the early stage .
No dates nutq at early stage but very helpful when she is near due time.

She should take her folic acid one 5mg daily till she starts antenatal and her dr will prescribe others too

Above all, she is her number one physician in this journey so let her monitor herself always and be observant of any changes or signs.

Happy and healthy bumpy to her.

Hello mothers.
We're expecting our second child and wifey is in her 15th week. First trimester went as smoothly as the first pregnancy. No morning sickness, no vomiting, no fatigue or anything. This pregnancy was like that until a few days ago. She started complaining about headaches and all. Told her to rest and Dr asked her to take paracetamol at a time. Butthe headache this morning was apparently terrible because she stayed in bed all morning and nagged and complained about it (she almost never complains). I called the doctor and he asked us to tie a damp towel around her head. After a while, the headaches magically vanished.
Mothers please what is the cause and what is expected of us? Is there anything we're meant to do. Someone said it may be a lack of magnesium. But she takes pregnacare and I thought pregnacare contains the right amount of magnesium supplement for a pregnant woman. Please mothers.
God bless you all and may God deliver all those who are due. (NB. I have been a silent member of this group for years).

Hello mothers.
.

Mild Headache is quite common during the duration of pregnancy and there little one can do except to manage it as it comes.

Eradicate stress to the minimum level
Rest and sleep well as at when the body wants it.
Drink plenty water.
Paracetamol is our friend at moments like that and the damp towel on the forehead.

It's just one of the packages na just to embrace it with joy.

I had thunderstorm headache yesterday and was in bed all through till evening but today as early as 7:30 I was up and doing my chores with amazing strength, still in my 1st trimester and with my 10 months plus toddler.

Happy and Healthy bumpy to wify.

Please drop her EDD so we can add her to her team, you can stand in for her.

BS
On Saturday I went for Anc and to the market afterwards, I had a very normal day. By 11pm I started feeling period like pains, I dismissed it as I had the same pain for more than 2 hours 4 days ago, I went to the hospital and doctor said it was false labour. I sha told hubby and he said it was cos I stressed myself too much that I should try and sleep . I went to bed, but woke up around after 12 with the same pains. As a ftm I was confused as i haven’t seen mucous plug or show, water haven’t broke and my EDD was a week away. I decided to time the contractions. I would doze off and wake up as the pain comes. It was so annoying and exhausting as I didn’t sleep at all the previous day and I was tired. As I timed the contractions I noticed sometimes it was 10,8 or 12 minutes apart.
I decided that once it gets to 3am and the contractions are still coming I’ll go to the hospital. From 11pm to 3am I urinated like 7 times. As soon as it was 3am I told hubby that it was hospital time. I got dressed and went to pee, as I was cleaning up I noticed a thick clear sticky stuff aka mucous plug, I just carried hospital bag.
On our way to the hospital I noticed the contractions time were shorter.
When we got to the hospital my doctor was not on duty, the doctor available took time to check my file. She checked if cervix has dilated and I was 7cm dilated already. I was moved to the delivery room immediately and hurriedly that I’ll deliver soon with the way my labour was progressing.
Next she ruptured my membrane and then the pain went from 10 to 120. I was screaming at this point and a nurse held my hands and was massaging my back. Within 15 minutes I was 9cm already but she said the anterior lip of the cervix ( first time I was hearing this) was still there so we’ll have to wait till it move so I can be fully dilated and push. She could feel baby’s head but the lip was acting as a blockage.
Contractions were still coming back to back, each time it comes doctor will check to see if the anterior lip was still there. Time went by quickly, the nurses left, doctor was coming and going calling someone on the phone.
I asked them to let my husband in. He came in and all I said in a faint voice was “Baby pray”, he held my hands and started praying, calling our daughter’s name to come forth. Each time contractions hits I’ll be shouting “God have mercy”, “God help me”, “Doctor help me”, but if it stops I’ll join my husband in praying and calling our daughter’s name.
I was already weak and exhausted, they brought in oxygen. After some time a doctor called hubby outside, he told him have been on this stage for almost 2 hours and CTG shows fetal distress, that they’ll have to bring the baby out via CS in 30 minutes time and they asked him to sign CS form.
He sha signed the form and he told me, I on my part was thinking why would I have to go through labor pain and still undergo CS. I would have opted for ELCS If I had known. But I just wanted the pain to stop and 30 minutes seemed like forever.
Contractions were still coming, and my doctor refused to leave my side at this stage, she was like I know you can give birth via vaginal delivery , each time contractions come she’d check and the lip was still there. 30 minutes almost over she checked and the lip was gone, I was fully dilated and told to push, where I take see strength.. I couldn’t push, was so exhausted.
Doctor, hubby and the nurses were encouraging me to push. I tried several times, nothing happened. CS doctor came in and said oya to the theater. My doctor was stimulating the contractions so it would come quicker. I don’t Where or how I got the strength but at the second push my baby girl popped out giving me many tears, screaming at the top of her lungs. I was just muttering thank you Jesus.
The stitching was on another level but in all I give God all the glory. Mother and baby are healthy and that is all that matters.
Cappo birthstory submitted, and prayers for all my fellow remaining march mamas and Gtc mamas.

please take her to a very good hospital o..although it can be nothing ...but is better to be safe ...there is something called preeclamsia that occurs during the second semester for some pregnant woman. The symptoms are severe headache, high blood pressure and protein in the urine..if its not treated..the baby in the womb can end up dead..as it wouldn't be nourished from the mothers placenta..the mom can end up dead too... I will advice you to by a blood pressure monitor ..its about 8000 upward... Just to be sure . I had preeclamsia with my first child.. I started having severe headaches from second semester... Followed by hbp and proteins in d urine....they had to do an emergency c section for me at seven months ..even when I felt normal...thankfully there was no complications with the child ...he was just so small.

please take her to a very good hospital o..although it can be nothing ...but is better to be safe ...there is something called preeclamsia that occurs during the second semester for some pregnant woman.

Thanks ma'am. Honestly I've read a few about that. That's why I'm quite scared. But just thought to monitor it for a while and she isn't so keen with going to the hospital right now with all the covid-19 stuff happening. But the consolation I have now is that the headaches happen when she wakes in the morning till like midday and that's all (don't know if that's any consolation tho'). She's feeling quite alright and up and about as I write this now. From what I read, preempclapsia headache isn't limited to just mornings. What d'you think ma?
