Without a national program of nationwide testing and tracing, there is no point in a lockdown. This is what I raised in my thread: https://www.nairaland.com/5760631/what-nigerias-covid-19-strategy-rationale If you are only testing a handful of people, primarily the political elite, there is not much to gain from asking every Tom, Dick, and Harry to stay indoors. 2 Likes |

What do you think Nigeria can do for you, we won't have it easy expect private companies come into the picture. It's a failed country. |

What do you mean by limited number of testing kits? Why must our own be always limited? Where are the Billions donated? Have snakes swallowed them as usual? We Nigerians are too stupid to a fault. Our neighborhood countries like Ghana have enough testing kits while we are still on garbage in garbage out. Thank God the virus paid a courtsey visit to aso rock when it landed if not our useless and hopeless leaders won't even give a damn.. JamParkMe: 3 Likes |

JamParkMe:Didn't you hear that most cases are asymptomatic and they spread it the most? There isn't an unlimited supply, but there should be a lot of it. Maybe not available to all, but available to most. The actual number of cases, hopefully, shouldn't have reached 5 figures yet. At this point, we still stand a good chance. If anyone feel they might have it, let them be tested. The government is not giving out incentives to its citizens like the countries you mentioned. Let them use all the money they would have otherwise used for that and the money they're getting to create and equip many testing centers now that it hasn't gotten out of hand ( hopefully). If asymptomatic people are not getting tested, they will keep spreading and even those who were tested before and tested negative will eventually get infected. Let's be wise. 1 Like 1 Share |

chinene1: Most young people are carriers. So what would testing do in his case? How will it prevent him from spreading it? If you have no symptoms, no test for you, there's just not enough test in the world to test healthy unexposed people. Now if you have symptoms and test positive, they can give you some vitamin C and chloroquine, monitor you a bit and discharge you home to self isolate. 1 Like 1 Share |

USA just approved a 5 minutes test kit, Germany has tons... Please with all due respect i think u need follow the trend of the virus before condeming the fellow that went for the test, because by all standard ur must know ur status before isolation which he actually deed. quote author=JamParkMe post=87904332]That person seeking a test right now is an unserious fellow. They are only testing those with symptoms such as fever, cough and body aches who may have been exposed to an infected person. There are very limited number of testing kits to go around, so yes of course screening is selective. Even in America and Europe, they are only testing people with symptoms, so why did your friend think he can just get tested like that?[/quote] 1 Like |

The countries you mentioned have more than100k active cases, We haven't gotten upto 200 cases and things are already falling apart.... johnmattew: It is an African issue... Deadratgrill: Exactly my point.. They noticed the increase in the number of people infected with the virus, but did nothing until jack ma donates to the country testing kit.. This country immediately started evacuating their citizens.. Ask me why... Why? Because they do not trust Chinese to be good enough not to send the kits to Italy but Africa, u don't know we are simply black lab rats to them may God protect us, |

Geofavor: And what difference will a positive test do for an individual who's asymptomatic? Will it stop the spread to those they have already come in contact with? Didn't the government ask everyone to remain indoors for this same reason, to maybe flatten the curve? Tell me how testing an asymptomatic person right now with limited supplies will improve the situation. |

JamParkMe: Calling the person unserious because he decided to seek out testing and be proactive in protecting himself and those around him is shocking. Its simple for you to list what you think he should do but you've not been exposed or had to live with that fear. I see nothing wrong in what he has done and I appreciate his effort at unmasking just how f**ked up the whole system it. At the end, to each his own. P.S, you don't really know what goes on when one is admitted. If it was that easy, most of the earlier cases would have been discharged by now. 3 Likes |
