DropsMic:the people producing test kits are distributing it to their citizens and it's not even enough...how do u expect others to get it?......the problem isn't NCDC...Nigerian government find it difficult to get it u will know he true status of Nigeria by next week Sunday.if hospitals and pharmacy aren't filled with people complaining about flu, they u will know that nigerian have escaped endemic coronavirus anyways, stock house with ginger,lemon/lime,green tea, tumeric, pineapple etc and keep taking them daily to boost your immunity 2 Likes |

saajus:no offence but where did you get data that indicates Nigeria has done over a thousand tests? As at 26th March Nigeria had done only 333 tests which is shameful, they haven't done up to 300 tests since that time considering how they keep feigning people's plea for tests. 3 Likes

JamParkMe: When Eldris Alba got tested, he wasn't feeling any symptoms even when the results came back positive he still wasn't feeling anything. Better get tested and isolate yourself before someone passes it to without showing any symptoms. 2 Likes |

eclectic90: Kevin Durant a rich and famous Basketball player got tested in America meanwhile nurses taking care of COVID-19 positive patients can't get the test unless they are displaying symptoms. Also, how do you know Davido in particular got tested? Have any proof? How do you know Chioma had no symptoms? Don't be too quick in thinking the world is out to get you. 1 Like 1 Share |

Re: Trying To Get Tested For Coronavirus By NCDC In Abuja: An Experience by Geofavor(m): 11:13pm On Mar 29, 2020 |
JamParkMe:There isn't an unlimited supply, but there should be a lot of it. Maybe not available to all, but available to most. The actual number of cases, hopefully, shouldn't have reached 5 figures yet. At this point, we still stand a good chance. If anyone feel they might have it, let them be tested. The government is not giving out incentives to its citizens like the countries you mentioned. Let them use all the money they would have otherwise used for that and the money they're getting to create and equip many testing centers now that it hasn't gotten out of hand ( hopefully). If asymptomatic people are not getting tested, they will keep spreading and even those who were tested before and tested negative will eventually get infected. Let's be wise. |

Tonyfx: I don't know about Edris Alba's case, but you are right if you believe the rich and famous will somehow get their hands on the testing kits. It happens in Nigeria and the rest of the world. However, that's not the protocol, no symptoms, no test. |
Re: Trying To Get Tested For Coronavirus By NCDC In Abuja: An Experience by Cmanforall: 11:15pm On Mar 29, 2020 |
thegloor:I didn't mention waiting for symptoms. But on an outbreak such as this, you create a criteria whereby whosoever that falls into that gets tested. No need to test anyone that comes knocking (not referring to OP). |

This epidemic has exposed all the sins and poor judgement by our leaders, the bad condition of hospitals in Nigeria has been opened like fowl Yash that now everybody knows there are less than 500 ventilators in Nigeria for 200 million people,it is not a surprise to see things like this when the leadership allows merit, hardwork and good judgement to be sacrificed on the altars of mediocrity, many of Nigeria's parastatals today are been managed by people that has zero idea of what they are doing there,it's a twist of an ironical joke by the Gods that every Nigerian is in the frying pan together,no escape to Dubai or uk for treatments,I had first class information from a contact in the UK that is a doctor he told me that our president was secretly flown into the UK yesterday for testing and treatment,if the information proves to be correct then our president is playing an even marcabe joke on us by abandoning his people in this trying times for selfish reasons,if he cannot stay in Nigeria and slug it out in our poorly equipped hospitals and maybe pay the ultimate price,he doesn't have the moral right to order soldiers to die in the Northeast for Nigeria 1 Like |

Geofavor: No it doesn't work like that. There is a limited supply of testing kits right now so therefore, they need to be selective in screening. Now if you have 200 million testing kits laying around, absolutely, you can test everyone, until then, only those with symptoms are priority everyone else should adhere to the stay-at-home order until the curve flattens, or there is a vaccine (highly unlikely this year) or there's a treatment. 1 Like 2 Shares |

yaki84:He said they are doing 'selective screening', and I said that's okay. But I don't support the fact there is no proper designated point for the screening. Turning people up and down is not fair and can even lead to more spread of the virus. #many Nollywood movies loading... |

JamParkMe: When it's your life on the line, you are free to judge as you like. Someone comes into the country without symptoms and decides to take people to go get tested is hailed for having forsight when one of them tests positive even without showing symptoms cos he is well known. Another ordinary citizen tried same but did not succeed and he is selfish but the governor who had the test done 6 times isn't. Hopefully if you find yourself or someone close to you in a similar situation, you will have the opportunity to take your advice or offer your opinion. 5 Likes |

johnmattew: Which brings me back to what i said earlier.... If our government had imposed travel restrictions on passengers from affected countries we wouldn't be in this mess... Instead they acted like they could handle the virus.. Forgetting that our hospitals are in shambles, forgetting that we are lacking in doctors... Forgetting that we don't produce our own medical tool or equipment.... |

JamParkMe: You are yet to understand. We should appreciate citizens coming for test willingly 1. 2. NCDC is not serious, do they have to pass the innocent man around? 3. Is It my problem we don't have enough test kits. 4. And mind you, if the same person turned down enemies has it and infect your relatives too before test is okay? 5. Donation made 2days back get to Lagos State today and await usage in 5more days to come?? Lastly, what your problem Are you part of NCDC? 2 Likes |

betapikin15:The selective screening I refer to in this case means screening those that fall into a set criteria for the disease risk. You need a checklist to enhance screening procedures, because it difficult and expensive to test an entire population. 2 Likes |

gabriel4u: We should encourage only those with symptoms who are seeking tests, everyone else should remain home. You ask if its your problem that we don't have enough test kits? Think for a second, this is a new virus that originated in late 2019. Nobody randomly stocks up test kits to detect an unknown virus unless of course you have a time-travel-machine that allowed you to travel into the future, witness the pandemic then ask your government to stock pile 200 million testing kit for a new virus. Even I got a headache typing that. 1 Like 1 Share |

According to NCDC if you are not symptomatic don't go about trying to get tested. If you have been in contact with anyone who is confirmed positive, self quarantine and contact NCDC if you see any symptom. This is reasonable to me. Imagine what will happen to our fragile health care system if all 200 million of us are trying to get tested! #Stayhome, #Staysafe 2 Likes 1 Share |

shogsman:It is really a sad situation. I am one of those advocating for the number of tests conducted to be made public. I guess you know why. Not because of the possibly limited test kits, but the numbers can give an overview of the situation on ground. For instance, testing 10,000 people and reporting 111 cases says a lot, in comparison with testing 120 people with 111 cases. Both scenarios show 111 cases, but the latter shows no adequate screening etc. If you are popular on twitter or other social networks, please let us demand the number of tests done. 1 Like |

chinene1: It will be considered foresight if you start dating a new partner and you both had unprotected sex and now all of a sudden you are worried you might have an STD. Hooray! Bingo! you are the model citizen for asking to get tested. Why? Because you are taking the initiative to not only get tested and probably have your partner get tested, but ultimately, there is enough testing kit to go around for STD but just not corona virus. I hope that analogy makes sense. 1 Like |
