Hi Bidexii, is the helmet as good as the one in the JSF? If so, it's combat value just decreased.

Its a travesty if one Nigeria soldier is lost to these 'terrorists' let alone a high number of them but let's put things in perspective when we start talking of Nigerian soldiers trembling with fear, and we are inundate with accusatory talk of how we don't know how it feels to loose men and face bokoharam/ ISAWP terrorist comming at you etc. We are talking of Nigeria military facing Bokoharam not Nigeria facing the military might of America as the Vietnamese did. Forgive me if I don't cower in awe of Bokoharam/ISAWP or believe Nigeria shouldent be struggling with those bunch of retards backed by whomsoever. It's embarrassing reading some statements that seem to expect us to cry and fear the apeish terrorists instead of to be angry at Nigeria for making heavywether of this. Boko deserve no respect however many Chadian soldiers they kill. Large Nigeria and Chadian losses amount to the same thing - incompetence.

I would go so far to say if we loose to the terrorists, it's only because we want to. I believe in the capacity of the Nigerian fighting man and woman, there are none in Africa better, let alone those things' calling themslves jihadist, but running around lake Chad incoherently.

PERSONNEL WELFARE IN NAF RECEIVES BOOST AS CAS COMMISSIONS ADDITIONAL SNCOs’ ACCOMMODATION IN KADUNA

In furtherance of efforts at ensuring decent and comfortable accommodation for its personnel towards enhancing service delivery and professional performance, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) today, 30 March 2020, commissioned 2 newly renovated blocks of 30 x 2-bedroom flats for Senior Non-Commissioned Officers (SNCOs) at the NAF Base Kaduna. The commissioning, which was performed by the Air Officer Commanding Air Training Command (AOC ATC), Air Vice Marshal Musa Mukhtar, on behalf of the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, lends credence to the efforts of the current NAF leadership in bridging the accommodation gap in the NAF since 2015. Indeed, the level of infrastructural development in the Service in the last 4 and a half years, which include residential accommodation, messes, recreational facilities, schools and hospitals, amongst others, has been unprecedented.

Aside the construction of new residential buildings to accommodate the large number of newly recruited personnel into the Service, the NAF has also taken steps to ensure that existing structures and dilapidated buildings in units across the Country were either remodeled or renovated for both aesthetic quality and enhanced functionality. The infrastructural renewal is aimed at boosting the morale of NAF personnel, who continually devote their lives to safeguarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Nation and sometimes pay the supreme price. With today’s commissioning, the NAF is steadily moving further towards total accommodation sufficiency.

This Is because both ISWAP / Boko Haram and the MJTF has both lost the momentum as well as the initiative.

When you get to that situation, then it's called a stalemate.

And in a Stalemated situation, one prominent feature is 'War of attrition.

If you have an eye for these things, you'll know that West African war of Attrition actually started since 2015.

I'm sorry but I don't see any stalemate. What I do see is that in the majority of cases, ISWAP or Boko Haram initiate action and the army then responds if it can.
A stalemate is not the kind of thing to convince the army into initiating the Super Camp strategy. The army appears set on a defensive war, while its opponents are slowly advancing and using their newly found freedom to grow and flourish.
That's not how things should be done.

NIGERIAN MILTARY ELIMINATES ANOTHER TOP BOKO HARAM COMMANDER

1. It would be recalled that on 22 March 2020, troops of Operation LAFIYA DOLE, while conducting a Special clearance operation in a subsidiary Operation called Operation AYISO TAMONUMA, decimated some key Boko Haram elements in an encounter at Gorgi in Damboa LGA of Borno State. In our earlier Press Briefing, we reported over 100 Boko Haram insurgents neutralized while scores of them escaped with gunshot wounds. This was in addition to several equipment casualty suffered by the Boko Haram insurgents.

2. As an update to that report, it is gratifying to note that, own communication intercept confirmed by accurate intelligence revealed that a top Boko Haram Commander, *ABU USAMAH* was among those Boko Haram insurgents killed during that encounter. He had earlier sustained fatal gunshot wounds in the fire fight that ensued during the encounter before his foot soldiers hurriedly evacuated him and withdrew. Nevertheless, Abu Usamah died in the process. His death has no doubt created a consequential vacuum in the Boko Haram leadership particularly as the gallant troops remain resilient and continue to rout the criminal elements from their last enclaves in the North East.

3. In another development, troops of 159 Task Force Battalion, Operation LAFIYA DOLE deployed in Forward Operating Base Kanama, Yunusari LGA of Yobe State, neutralized scores of the Boko Haram Terrorists/Islamic State's West Africa Province insurgents who attempted to infiltrate their location on 27 March 2020.
The terrorists were severely decimated by our gallant Ground troops supported by the Air Component of Operation LAFIYA DOLE. They withdrew in disarray under superior fire power and were subsequently crushed by own troops.

4. Furthermore, during the encounter several terrorists were neutralised while one Gun Truck and various arms and ammunition were captured by the troops. These include; one DSHK Gun, 2 AK 47 Rifles, 2 AK 47 Rifle magazines, one Rocket Propelled Grenade bomb, 273 rounds of Anti-Aircraft Gun ammunition, 101 rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunition, 15 jerricans of Premium Motor Spirit and a Boko Haram Terrorists flag.

5. Meanwhile, the Military High Command, has congratulated the gallant troops for their resilience, courage and dedication to the noble cause of defending our fatherland against the criminal elements. They were equally enjoined to continue to be steadfast and relentless against the enemies of our nation.

6. You are kindly requested to disseminate the above information to the general public for awareness. Thank you for your usual cooperation.

Doesn't make sense. The Chadians are some of the fiercest and experienced warriors in Africa. I don't think they are stupid enough to have a base so near an ISWAP camp without pulverizing it.
Let's stop downgrading ISWAP and boko haram any how, even though I and some other people see them as a rag tag group, they have also shown they can fight and am sure some of their fighters too are experience.

They faced the Chadians in a battle and gave them a bloody nose.

As for me, I think we need some of Armed drones, unarmed drones(the ones that can stay long in air to monitor Borneo,Adamawa and yobe. But more zones should be deployed to northern Borno and the lake Chad area. Any boko haram group, camp, houses, cars, supply lines or any other thing that has to do with boko haram is sighted, they should send in the armed drones to bomb the hell out of them.

More APC and IFV should also be purchased, for military personnel to move around with. We also need more attack helicopters and helicopters for moving around special forces and troops.

I know we don't have that kind of money to spend on weapons, so we can make a deal with either SA, Sweden, China, Russia, or any NATO country for them to give us the weapons while we pay back little by little, it will be in form of a loan. It will be done the way China loan money to some African countries. Chinese build the infrastructures while the African country pay back the loan on the basis they agree on.

If we can get this done, the war won't end immediately, but our troops no go dey die anyhow and we will have more advantages against boko haram. Nah just my opinion.

If is this easy as you're saying it, The Americans won't be signing a peace deal with the Taliban.

With the way things dey go for West Africa now, it will be so hard to conquer all this Islamic terrorist in the Western part of Africa. Even NATO and some other militaries in Mali are not having it easy.

The way i see things, this war is not ending this year or next year or anytime soon. It will take time, what the government can do for now is to let our military always be on the offensive and make sure we don't have troops dying in large numbers.

Your idea makes lots of sense and I advocated for precisely that a few pages back. ISWAP are good, but the Chadians are on another level.

That's a fact. I highly respect them and so do most foreign intelligence services. If there was a way to pay them to battle ISWAP and Boko Haram on our behalf we should explore it, cos they are serious about what they are doing.

As for us lacking money to buy arms you must be mistaken. There's plenty money in Nigeria, but the political class is focused on chopping this alone and allowing the barest minimum scraps to others.

Check the allowances a Nigerian senator earns. They get 26 million a month and that's not even counting the bribes and kickbacks they receive on the regular.
They also drive armored cars, as if Abuja is a war front. They have garages full of exotic cars and private jets, but no actual business other than being senators and house of reps members.

There are seemingly no funds to buy arms, yet most senior army officers have mansions in Dubai. I still remember the case last year where a general asked some troops to carry around a billion naira to somewhere and they just shared it among themselves and ran. How does a general get access to a billion naira?

So, there's plenty money. What we lack is the will to see this war end.

The US are signing a deal with the Taliban due mainly to lack of support for the war in America. Americans are tired and want the war to end.
Like the Vietnamese, the Taliban don't need to physically defeat the Americans. All they need to do is drag on the war, harry the enemy and make him bleed large with a thousand tiny pinpricks.
The situation in Afghanistan and that in Africa are widely different. That's why I think this war can still be won.

Hmm... I don't think the FG budget for this year is up to $45b. in fact, the FG don't just rely on is revenue to fund that budget, the FG will also borrow some money to fund that budget. Even if nigerian politicians don't steal, it will still change nothing.

Check the budget of countries like SA, Brazil, Malaysia and Indonesia ,then compare it to that of Nigeria

OVER 200 BOKO HARAM KILLED BY MILITARY BOMBARDMENT IN SAMBISA FOREST

Military Bombardments kills over 200 Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists in Sambisa Forest, 37 Soldiers die as Army Logistics Truck carrying bombs, Artillery weapons explodes.

Air strikes and Land bombardments by Air and Land components of Operation Lafiya Dole on Buk, a Boko Haram and ISWAP Command Center inside Sambisa Forest between Saturday 21st and Monday 23rd March 2020 has led to the killing of over 200 terrorists and some of their commanders, with many of their logistics equipment and arms destroyed.

This is just as an explosion of one of the military trucks carrying bombs and other artillery weapons of the fighting troops meant for consolidation and protection of cleared strongholds captured from the terrorists, exploded unexpectedly, killing more than 30 Nigerian troops inside the forest.

Fifteen (15) of the soldiers who sustained various degree of injuries as a result of the explosion, have been evacuated to Maiduguri for medical intervention.

Sources however disclosed that the explosion of the logistics truck carrying back up bombs and ammunition for artillery fire meant to level remaining strongholds of Boko Haram/ISWAP marauders inside the forest may have been the [b]handiwork of informants (5th Columnists) within the military who must have revealed movement of troops.

It was gathered that after surveillance and intelligence reports showed that more than 500 terrorists and their Commanders, (size of a Brigade) were operating a camp in Buk, inside Sambisa Forest and it was from there many of their attacks either suicide or ambush attacks were being organized and launched, the authorities decided to embark on a clearance operation of the Camp.

In the first wave of artillery and fighter aircraft strikes, hundreds of the terrorists were annihilated and their equipment and weaponry destroyed even as troops continued to march forward with high morale.

However, when the second wave of gallant troops began the back-up movement with a view to securing the already cleared areas in Buk, fifth columnists within the allegedly tipped Boko Haram that the back-up fighting force was coming with trucks loaded with more bombs and artillery ammunition to finish any remnant of the terrorists group hence the truck was targeted and its impact killed many of the soldiers.

Confirming the development on Tuesday, Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Major General John Enenche said, “As you know, we are in a fluid conflict situation and our gallant troops are out there at the frontlines. Between 21 and 23 March 2020, troops of Operation Lafiya Dole, were on clearance and fighting patrol operation to Gorgi in Borno State which successfully done.

“However during consolidation they were ambushed by elements of Boko Haram Terrorists (BHT). Sadly, we suffered some casualties in the unfortunate attack.

“However the Air Component of Operation Lafiya Dole scrambled immediately and provided Close Air Support to the ground troops.

“While the Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) platform as well as the fighter jets engaged the Boko Haram Terrorists immobilizing, killing some of the terrorists and immobilizing a gun truck.

“Some others, who attempted to withdraw, were also mopped up by the jets in follow-on attacks.

“The Defence Headquarters commiserate with the families of our fallen gallant heroes who paid the supreme price in the course of defending our fatherland.

“We assure Nigerians that the Armed forces and other security agencies in furtherance of the objective of restoring peace and security in the North East and other parts of the country will continue to sustain the offensive against the enemies of our nation.”

Some of these assumptions you make leave me bewildered sometimes. You have been here for a very long time so l just don't get it.

You make claims of 5th columnists as being the primary reason for this ambush. I am sorry it just doesn't cut it for me.

Here you are in the middle of a " kill zone" with two huge bright yellow and quite noisy dumpster trucks.

Do you think that Boko don't have look outs? ❓ hidden observation posts and even some very basic drones. They know your coming and prepare a welcome.

The terrain is off road and very hard, those big dumpster will have limited mobility including the heavy MRAP's probably operating at less than 5mph. How long does it take to set up an attack❓

Those huge dump yellow trucks will be easy targets for any Boko combatant trained or untrained. They are sitting yellow ducks.

You can not really call it an ambush because nobody should be suprised.

You go into Sambisa it's a fire fight you will not be welcomed with flowers. You already know you are going to get hit just a matter of when.

In that regard you should be expectant and therefore prepared. Your response should be devastatingly offensive and not defensive, but that's if you've got the right weaponry.

But we go into a firefight with soft skinned pick up trucks. And very heavy immobile for the terrain MRAP's with no run flat tyres. Boko simply blow out your tyres and stall your advance.

My opinion is that NA have literally been working miracles with the limited equipment they have.

Agreed without ❓

From my observations the top brass seem to be seeking the best deal particularly in the NA that puts the most money on thier pockets.

As a consequence best value is fed to the dogs.

How much does a brand new Toyota gun truck cost and how much does a used APC cost.

Which would you rather be in when you are in a fire fight and which gives you the best initial protection.

The army has no business using Toyota vehicles in the northeast, it's an embarrassment, rather than buy Toyota we should use that money and buy second hand Humvees from US used during the Iraq war, though it has its own flaws, it's far better than Light skin vehicles.
The Humvees can even be given to us free because the US has decommissioned it and are dashing some of their allies in West Africa..
Again, we're not serious tomorrow they'll sign another multi million dollar deal to purchase another set of Toyota light skin. We can even meet proforce/ Innoson to replicate the Humvees with better ballistic characteristics, but guymen must cashout.
The army knows what they want believe you me there are very smart guys both at the officer cadre and NCO cadre but corruption no dey let us to the right thing.

The Land cruiser Toyota is better mobility wise than a humvee in a hot arid region like the North east.

Except the Humvee is armored, it has nothing on the Toyota

A humvee is also light skinned. Expect you're referring to armoured humvess.

The Land cruiser Toyota is better mobility wise than a humvee in a hot arid region like the North east.
Sure it's the armoured variant, moreover a humvee is covered all round unlike a Toyota that is exposed at the sides where troops are sitted

We make armoured vehicles in Nigeria, why should we import second hand humvees?

A humvee will only protect against small arms fire, it would get decimated by large caliber weapons.

What Nigeria really needs are heavy infantry weapons and Tanks. Supported by UAVs and self towed artilleries.

We badly, very badly need weapons in the 30mm range.

We need Tanks, T-72 or T-90 Tanks. Frontal core of our attack, supported by 30mm or 57mm cannons.

We need ATGMs mounted on pick-up trucks, then more MRAP APCs.

We have no use for Humvees.
