Anyone who believes the Bollocks reports from the NCDC is a plain dummy... Now I'm getting Scared for real angry

We were shouting lockdown the borders or force quarantine returnees or return them back as far back as January someone said i was paranoid.

If you have ever been under curfew due to any crisis in Nigeria you would understand why most of us were shouting ourselves hoarse.

There is not a single care about what happens to the citizens. Forget all those isolation centers , you are more likely to even contact much more diseases there than leave feeling better. We have zero medical records , zero database , non functional health care systems.

A country where pregnant women and accident victims are carried in Ubers or Okada to ER is what you want to tackle a ravaging virus that hugs resources?

In Lagos there is like a ration of like 500,000 to one Ambulance. Just wrap your head around that fact.

Hello nairalanders, This is news is not accurate and a bit stale.

1.They got the name wrong. 2. It is not his daughter that is sick. 3. This was on Sunday afternoon. 4. The person has been moved to a better ward and is getting good treatment. Always verify news before you share on social media.

Thank you.

Let her die in my house - Nigerian dad threatens to take his daughter out of isolation due to poor treatment

A video of a Nigerian dad complaining bitterly over the poor condition his daughter is allegedly being subjected to at an isolation center, has surfaced online.

The man who introduced himself as Mr Olanutu, told reporters during an interview that his daughter who is diagnosed with the novel Coronavirus, has been left unattended to by the medical staff at one of the isolation centers.

Although he did not mention which of the Isolation centers, the aggrieved dad also said his daughter had not been fed since she was moved into the isolation center.

''Let the Minister come and see what is happening. If I am telling lies, my name is Mr Olanutu.

What the hell are they doing here? She hasn't seen a doctor since morning, she hasn't seen a nurse, she hasn't been fed and you are telling me that I should not take her out. Let her go and die in my house, simple. I don't care anymore. For the fact that you have Coronavirus does not mean you should be left around'' he said

Thousands have this virus in Nigeria already. Many do not know yet, spreading it unknowingly. The ones that know that they have it, have no solution, thus jumping from hospital to hospital seeking solutions, and at the same time spreading it.

I pity the young girl and the man in question. I also saw Sydneytalker video where a teaching hospital rejected him , no test kits, no equipment to tackle such cases.

Yet, government keeps telling people to stay at home but they won’t listen, government knew that naija doesn’t have what it takes to combat this virus. And their best option is to contain it and stop the spread. Which is to stay home. But Nigerians and their stubbornness no go ever listen.

The other day, an ambulance came to carry someone with the virus, whose is already deteriorating, only God knows how many people that must have been infected through the patient. That was in amuwo odofin.

#stayhome.

Gbabiski oro. The disease is self limiting. Except in symptomatic patients rigorous intervention may not be required. In that type of isolation centre, physical abandonment, depression, anxiety and fear may kill even before the virus.

Fast one? It is the citizens that would enforce self isolation requirements or rules on returnees from high risk countries? The citizens have less than 10% to do in this.

Countries like Singapore enforced stringent rules and even went digital. You get a wrist band fixed after landing and you mark a space as self isolation square. You move metres out of the perimeter and you are fined heavily.

But here we were given a blank cheque to roam around
without punitive measures. Even public officials returning were seen roaming the country.

We should be scaling up tests and isolation and contact tracing but till today we don't even know how many tests has been carried out. That's how you contain this and none is in the hands of citizens

Yes...
SELF-isolation by its very definition requires SELF-enforcement!

Meanwhile, where did you get the notion that Nigeria is not "scaling up tests and isolation and contact tracing"? New molecular labs are being opened, the existing labs have themselves scaled up through process engineering (ie, going from their regular 1 8-hour shift to 3 8-hour shifts, and thus are now operational for 24 hours daily), more test kits and equipment are being imported, new isolation centers (as well as ICUs) are being opened up in all of the states, and the very essence of the lockdown (as stated in the Quarantine Order) is to enhance contact tracing.

Nonetheless, the notion that coercive policing is the only way to get ADULTS to protect not only their own health but also their own families and communities is a sad commentary on the lawlessness and irresponsibility of the citizenry. #TakeResponsibility

You should take time to tune into an international TV station and see how world over people would always be irresponsible except their is a catch. Maybe you go learn a bit of human psychology. The concept of needs, wants and motivation. No human would do what is necessary except there is an higher motivation/reward/punitive measure to do what is right. Every single action is weighed between what is in the best interest of the individual. It is human nature. You would expect a government with their head screwed right in to understand this basic thing and understand how volatile Corona is and how highly contagious it is. If i were to follow your logic we should remove traffic lights on roads as humans should be able to "self behave" and citizens should naturally be "responsible".

Lawlessness of Citizens you say? when the government hasn't been responsible to the citizens from the start.?The average Ajegunle vulcanizer shouldn't be suffering the effects of government ineffectiveness when he doesn't even have a bank account let alone passport to travel outside the shores of the country.

The question you should be asking the government is....95% of cases were returning travellers , why are you just forcing isolation now? From the start the major challenge was to avoid local transmission and we failed in that. Shows you they failed in their assessment and risked the lives of millions of Nigerians with their ineptitude. How do you contact trace thousands? With the way country is packed?

As for testing, information out there speaks to the contrary.I hope these measures turn out effective and we come out successful at the end but deep down I honestly feel we already passed that bus stop and only a Vaccine can stop this. Which points back to my stance the government dropped the ball on this.
