That is one of the reasons Nollywood is regressing. We went from telling great, relatable African stories like Igodo, Living In Bondage and Egg of Life, to trying to tell European stories using African actors. You can't sell the white man's story to the white man.

The sooner Nollywood starts telling African stories again, the better it will be. The only problem Nollywood ever had was with money. There isn't enough capital to secure the effects that you guys love, but every other thing was good.

Script writing was top notch, acting was impeccable. Go back and watch all those old movies, and you will gain a newer sense of respect for them. Over 15 years after movies like Osuofia in London, Issakaba and Aki & Pawpaw, people still enjoy them, they are all over the Internet, being used by millions around the world.

But Nollywood of today, will rather throw a bunch of light-skinned ladies with poor acting skills and a mediocre script, then try to blind us with flashy cars, while telling European stories.

Abeg, make I no too go down this path here, because my grouse with Nollywood and Nigerians is strong.

Safari, This has nothing to do with asslicking.. Its what gives most female roles larger bank checks these days. We need to catch up from this usuals if we wantu gross movies. Many foolish movies take home close to billion dollars like some of those SA films you mentioned. If we want Nollywood to become lucrative, then it needs to adapt to the trend asap.


Martial arts is one big criteria for any action movie involving female characters. You know that already.

Story is one, making it a script is another and heck we are trying in that aspect of recent, but never top notch. Never.

Its all about smartness.... That has never been our forte.

The. Biafran War alone, can Nollywood act it in CGI standard as at now and give correct pictures, details and the likes? Can we?

Lets be real here.

Once crux that pains me is that many movies with no content are there making it bit cos of what? Catchy scenes and people watch and boom, cash inflow. Can we do same for a couple of years so we can get enough cash to real show the whole world what we made of? Nobody wana hear we have topnotch script writers even in an oscar hallway. YouTube always recommend videos for me but I have a functioning brain that allows me to sift through the nonsensical ones and pick the ones I want to watch.I can't believe you had to watch for 1hr+ before you realised you were watching a boring movie.But then again your neurons don't fire that quick.

See us all here. If we have a hostel of 35rooms and 20 peeps are with laptops, at least 18 of them will have 4 Bollywood movies. Can same be said for Nollywood in India? That's my point here. We should aim for the best and get it.

We just need rake im that money.
