Given the great alliance between America and Britain,do you think what you just said nullifies the fact that Americans don't let outsiders play in American true story-based films?

Most of those British actors are casted in fictions anyway,so that doesn't count.Charlize Theron & Arnold Vosloo are South Africans who made it big in Hollywood but the question is doing you think they will be considered if a movie about Abraham Lincoln or Benjamin Franklin was to be made? HELL NO!!

Charlize played American psycho, Aileen Wuornos though tongue She played the part well, down to the accent.

The problem South Africans have with American actors telling South African stories, in particular, is their arrogance by not putting enough effort when portraying "African" characters, real or fiction. The accents are always irritatingly OFF. It ruins the moment. Leonardo DiCaprio put on a stellar performance portraying a South African in Blood Diamond & so did Ryan Phillippe in The Bang Bang Club. Their accents were spot on. The rest were wack. That's what we want to see, EFFORT or leave it to the Real Mccoys to tell their own stories with the dignity they deserve.

Last I checked they are in 2 different continents. There is no alliance just a similar language. Maybe it is the lasting image James Bond has left on the country.

David Oyelowo played an African American in red tails and he is British. If an actor from another country wants to act in America they will move to Hollywood and audition for roles like everyone else. This isn't rocket science, u can't get a role that you never auditioned for.

I wonder at the Nigerians that watch SA movies.

I mistakenly watched one last week. What a borefest!

South Africans are some of the biggest self-hating negroes, they are only concerned with the approval of their white masters, that is why they brag with Oscars and grammy awards. I don't know why any African will want the approval of people that spit on them, if it is not some form of mental problem.

The entire African continent approves of Nollywood, that is the only approval black people need; the approval of their fellow blacks. That is why nobody rates SA in Africa, all they know how to do is kiss caucasian butts.
You can say the same about Niggerians.

Lazy thinkers!!! Pls reread all i read before you leap. Lol

You have comprehension issues i guess.

I stated facts and that makes me a lazy thinker.

If Madiba is that revered, why did it no occur to the black directors to adapt his life into a movie? Why wait for the white man to come and then when he wants to do it his way, SA was all ranting up and down asif its an entitlement.

Be like church sister wey brothers in tha lord dey overlook for marriage until ine brother from another church kon toast am ask her out. All of dem kon sit up, open eye say sister wey fine dey dia church.

You need work on your thinking.

And oh, i enjoyed Rhythm City very much until David Gennaro part began to bore me. But fact remain facts!!! Think harder pls.

Your an unrepentant blockhead lol

so just because we didn't decide to turn his life into a movie it means we must let an outsider tell the story? We didn't wait for anyone
We would prefer if the story remains untold if they could not find a South African that would make it authentic.

Yes you can move there but what are the chances of being chosen over someone who grew up in the vicinity of Hollywood if you are an outsider?

Oh I only know The American Psycho 2

That's the main problem. They can't hit the right inflections so these movies come of as quick money-making schemes for Americans.I remember watching Winnie and being irritated by Jennifer Hudson not knowing how to pronounce "amandla", she would say "amandza" instead...like how hard can that be? Lol

And yeah.Morgan Freeman also gave a decent performance in Invictus.

No, the name of the movie she starred in is Monster. She portrayed female serial killer, Aileen Wournos...hence I used the term, "American psycho".

Yeah, I watched it & every single one of them got on my nerves with their BS accents lol.

Morgan tried, but his own was tolerable mainly because he had a bit of resemblance to Madiba, plus it appeared as if he'd done his part in studying the mannerisms of his subject etc. Overall, he did a better job.

LMAO. There's something called umkhitha or ukucikizwa, but I don't think there's a name for it English. It can only described as, "It's like God took a fine brush to create the person". Having finely-chiseled features. So ja, theirs always look like doodling or a hurriedly done chicken scratch grin

Bros whites came from all over Europe, not just Britain. People that you see all Hollywood stars mostly had to wait tables and do other menial jobs while going from audition to audition. There is no such thing as outsider. If u move to Hollywood right now u would have the same opportunity.

I'm not sure you understand exchange rates, if yes, you won't be making your arguments on that. Rand is much better and valued currency than the Naira so what exactly are you saying? cry

I enjoy watching S.A dramas, I miss those days I had time to watch "Rythm City" and "Scandal" on DsTv.
