However, ur description with the part in bold fits a different kind of mandate called; GOOD TILL CANCELLED(GTC) order or where the timeframe is definite, a GOOD TILL DAY(GTD) order.
...the former runs indefinitely but can be called-off in between, while the latter runs within a one day timeframe but can not be called off.
The term FILL OR KILL(FOK) defines an order that must execute the moment it was made or it automatically cancels.
In retrospect, u are instructing the system to either execute the order NOW(the fill part) or LEAVE IT(the kill part
Thanks Sir OGG for the compliment and the detailed analysis as well as the correction.
You're right. Think my description fits more into "Good till filled".
We however have another option which is "immediate or cancel", I assume there's slight difference btw this and "fill or kill".

Good morning to all the Ogas/madams here,

Please help a brother out. I am finding it difficult to process my e-devidend mandate for Datamax Registrars. They no longer have annex office in Abuja where I work. I was in GT branch where they used to be and was given a phone no to contact them.

I called the number and their representative told me that I can only do that through my broker. I contacted my broker and they told me that I am supposed to do that on my own either through my bank or directly with the registrar and that if I want them to do it on my behalf I would be charged for it. The charge though I haven't asked for but would say it will not be a problem if it is not much.

However, what seem to be a problem is a form sent to me as signature specimen form. It has transfer of shares clearly written on it and that is not my intention. I called the CCare rep attention to it and she is still insisting that it is a signature specimen form.

I would have tried it through my bank again but I don't want to waste more time and passports. The ones I tried with them for GTL and cornerstone did work out well, I only got acknowledgement text from NIBSS, birthday text and festivities greetings from the concerned registrars. Glaxosmith is still owing me some tasere dividend even after my efforts with GTL through my bank..

I leave in Niger State right now and work in Abuja. Is there an easy way I can do this?
Did anyone fill this with his or her broker here?

You will soon find out you cherry-picked the best (in both capital appreciation and dividend culture) this season offered.
By the way, make room for your interim dividend from both of them in a few months.

Am impressed!

I had the same experience processing my GTB dividend with Datamax,

You will have to do it through your broker and they will charge for it, mine was around N200.

The from they gave you is the okay, just fill it and return it to them.

Cheers

The transfer form given to you to sign is a signature specimen form, just like the lady told you.
I got to know this when I was processing my e-dividend form with Africa Prudential and they requested for my signature specimen.
I contacted my broker and that was the form sent to me to sign only the "transferor's side' only. They are to fill the remaining section for you by themselves cos they know what and what to fill. This will be attached to your CSCS statement and forwarded to the registrar by your broker.
Pay the token fee and spare yourself unnecessary stress cos there's no way you can by-pass your broker where signature specimen is involved.

Normally for every stock you want to do e-dividend for, you must fill two forms: the share transfer form and e-mandate form. The share transfer form is from your stockbroker and is usually hand-delivered to them while the e-mandate is from the registrar and can be delivered through your bank, stockbroker or directly to the registrars.

The share transfer form looks like it is from ARM and they charge about N300 for each.

However, they sent a mail recently for investors to update their form in order to comply with SEC's efforts at reducing unclaimed dividend. I think by that mail they want to automate the e-mandate process and stop all these signing of forms for every stock you purchase. I assume you got the mail so you can call them to clarify that before signing the share transfer form so as not to waste efforts.

Thanks for your explanation, but still it confuses. My first attempt to the app, I thought I could use the buy mandate to place an order when Zenith went low, only to discover that it did not go through.
Now how I do it is to go to the particular company and click it and select buy, that is the only one that has worked so far, but this FOK de confuse me small small.
onegentleguy:

1st let me commend ur effort in always trying to lend a helping hand to the newbies in our midst.
...Ur doing a nice job. Pls keep it up !!

The term FILL OR KILL(FOK) defines an order that must execute the moment it was made or it automatically cancels.
...put differently, a FOK mandate signals an order to instantly execute a trade(whether buy or sell) immediately or otherwise, cancel it.
In retrospect, u are instructing the system to either execute the order NOW(the fill part) or LEAVE IT(the kill part)
It can also be referred to as a FILL OR CANCEL order(they are one and same)
By convention, a FOK mandate is usually a limit order.

...a brief;

Assuming the trade book of DANGOTE SUGAR is; highest bid price @ N9, and lowest offer price @ N9.30 in a given market day.
Now let's say that u hold 10,000 unit of DS and after estimating ur BEP, u intend to sell for no less than N9.15.
But since N9 is the best/highest bid at the time, u can either use a normal limit order @ N9.15 or utilize the fill or kill order.
Where u use a FOK order, the mandate will only execute if there was a price equivalent waiting order(a buy, in this case) to match it up, otherwise the order will automatically cancel.
...the same principle also applies when u are buying.

One of the hurdle with using a FOK order is that the order volume must be filled completely at the instance of trade.
...there are NO partial executions.
The interpretation of this is that even where there is an equivalent price match-up, the volume of the existing or waiting order must be greater than or equal to the volume of a fill or kill order, otherwise the order will NOT execute.
With the illustration above; where there is a match-up, the vol must be >/= that ur 10,000 unit at the point of execution(the mement u click; fill or kill), otherwise the order will NOT pull through.

One of the key advantage of using a FOK order though is that its a handy/useful tool for what I call "investigative trading" and "sniper trading"(the 2 parts in intalics is a clue to both) cool cool
Those who employ the thing about inquisition and tactics to trading and investing will know what am talking about.
There are also 2 other key tools though. wink cheesy grin

Hope its clearer now.
