Even if it remains 1month to pay, don’t you have the rent already. Find half payment Give am, for this corona you cannot come and rent my house and be challenging me. I always strive to make sure I pay my house rents at least 3 months before it expires. Accommodation is not something I joke with

His rent expires at the end of the 12th month which is 17/04/2020

17/03/2020 is only the ending of the 11th month and the 13th month begins on 18/04/2020

April to April =13months

Correct but why intimidating the tenant ? Why the threat of locking him out ? The landlord as no such right even if the op dey owe am the landlord still as no such right ,if the op no get money to pay now make he plead with him which I feel he already did but if not he should get a lawyer or he man up. OP is very correct. The tenancy expires on the eve of the anniversary of its commencement date. If the landlord remains aggressive, consult a lawyer to write him. In the future, ensure you get the tenancy period correctly reflected in your receipt.

Many olodos in nairaland. The op is right. Many people are half educated here and will be forming. How can 18/04/2019 to 18/03/2020 be one year? Did u guys write ordinary waec? If he was paying monthly, how many times would he had paid in March 2020?

where is your receipt? FYI the landlords date is correct, plead with him , use lockdown as excuse.

The counting of a full month doesn't start with 17th April, first full month usage is at 16th May midnight.

You cannot stay free in any apartment.

Don't try this with knowledgeable property investors.

The notice period is given so the tenant is able to get a new apartment, not for the tenant to enjoy free housing.

The rent always expires the month before it’s like your passport expiring a day before the day you renewed it or he’s only charging you 11 in rent it’s always 11 they start counting when you move in.

So if you move in January 1st December 31 is a year

Exactly that's what I did to avoid stressing my wife and daughter at home... because am not in the country....I have to call the landlady and explain that my house rent is April 25... But I will pay the money to you due to the work going on in the house..... ...

Very wrong. The cycle of 365 days ends precisely on the day before the anniversary of his payment. That is, 17/04/2020.

Why are you guys counting in months instead of days. If he paid 18/04/19, then it expires 17/04/20. A year is 1st Jan to 31 Dec on a monthly basis, 2nd Jan 2019 to 1st Jan 2020 is a year

January to December makes a year.

And not January to January!
1st of January to 31st of December makes a year(365 days). He paid April 18th so he's rent is due on the 16th(365 days) cos this year is a leap year. Not sure if it matters if it's a leap year, if not then it's on the 17th.

Your landlord is right in his calculations, you're calculating 13 months as one year while he is calculating 12 months . Oga go and pay your rent and stop confusing your self
