Saudi Arabia is a lake of Oil. Continue dreaming. If not for US cajoling and pleading - they can crash everyone. Gawar oil field alone has 70B proven oil reserves. And if Oil is going to go out - don't think Saudis will wait for you to break even - they will flood the market with it.
what is a lake of oil when oil brings them very little money such that they have to deplete their reserves in 2 years?

Saudi flooding the market is just a foolish idea of them, they did it in 2014 to 2016 and lost 250 billion in reserves and Doug a 100 billion hole in their budget. Monies they've still not recovered.

There will be a palace coup in Saudi before the other Princes allow Mbs to ruin the wealth of the kingdom.
This is why Mbs is so paranoia and rounding up his cousins in hotels.

Let me teach your economics 101. Our source of forex is diversified. The demand for forex diversified. So if flowers don't get sold for 1yr - we are talking 1B dollars - out. That flower sector alone also requires forex.

Now Nigeria. Oil is the main source of forex and gov revenues. If oil drops to 10 dollars..your forex will evaporate into the THIN AIR...and entire economy will come crushing in months if not days.

Get the difference btw diversified economy and resource dependant economy.

It's like Nigeria has a one-grade cow and Kenya has many chickens, ducks and fowls.

When your only grade cow get sick - the owner also get sick - but the guy with some many fowls - will not lose sleep over one or two chicken.

God help you if the cow DIES.

Bottom line: Don't rush to buy or depend on a cow - like the rich or developed neigbour - diversify into chicken, rabbits, rodents (if you're ghanian), ducks, sheep, goats -- before you spend the last dime on a grade cow.

As you become rich - buy many calves - learn about cow business - and eventually you'll have many grade cows - in addition to chicken, ducks, turkey, etcs.

whatever you earn in any sector, from agriculture to tourism Nigeria earns much more, just so you know.

Saudis and UAES - are working on diversify from Oil - they know it's unsustainable - so don't confuse FISCAL break point from real production break point. They can sell oil at 1 dollar and still make profit. But they are aggressively expanding their economy , saving and the works.

Don't confuse a rich country who has set a target to hit the moon - with Ghana whose target is in Nairobi.

Their diversification has not yielded much result.

Saudi selling oil at 1 dollar will mean no development for them
They wont be able to keep their currency peg to the dollar.
There will be a revolution
They wont be able to give all the free things that they give to their citizens.

All this noise you are making, The Saudis knows best and that is why they been running to Russia begging that Russia agrees to a cut in production

Here is Kenya Vision 2030 popular version. See we have used realistic images of Kenya - because we know the country need minor fixes. But Ghana - you cannot even imagine Accra - being anything - you had to lift the whole of Nairobi as your north star.

Our vision has 3 pillars - the economy is one of the pillars. Our vision 2030 is to be like South Africa - a proper middle class. Not a cooked one like Nigeria or Ghana.

Once we get there - we will plan for 2050 - to be a developed country like UK or etc.

Vision 2020 document that was put together by the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) as Ghana's blue print for sustainable socio-economic development.

This is why Ghana outmatch Kenya on all the socio-economics

grin grin grin

Ghana vision 2020 has mostly been achieved

The Ghana economy is an emerging digital-based mixed economy with an increasing primary manufacturing sector and exportation of digital technology goods along with assembling and exporting automobiles and ships, agricultural products primarily cocoa, petroleum and natural gas and information and communications technology sectors.

Ghana’s blue print for sustainable socio-economic development is the Vision 2020 document put together by the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC). With the economic program “Ghana: Vision 2020“, Ghana intends to achieve its goals of accelerated economic growth and improved quality of life for all its citizens.

The document recognizes the fact that the only means by which the country’s resources can be used efficiently to achieve rapid economic growth while maintaining the integrity of the environment hinges is on the integration of Science and Technology in the various programmes.

The NDPC which is the highest planning authority is responsible for coordinating the development programmes of all sectors in a manner as to ensure that sector policies and legislation concerning international cooperation for sustainable development are well coordinated and integrated to achieve the national goal.

The utilization of Science and Technology to quickly deliver Ghana’s advancement to enhance the personal satisfaction for all while keeping up the honesty of nature is this nation’s present need being developed. In this way, all divisions are being urged to utilize science and innovation to address their project in a supportable way.

Ghana’s public administration system has been decentralized to the district level thus making it possible for Districts to take responsibilities for their development programmes and resources in line with Ghana’s Vision 2020 programme. Cities, towns and communities have established bilateral informal relationship with their counterparts in the developed countries for purposes of development.

Government is creating an enabling environment for the private sector to acquire and use environmentally sound technologies through international cooperation.

Ghana Vision 2020 has led to the establishment of
1.Modern health facilities
2. Telemedicine is now possible
3. E-government is now possible with the laying of the country fibre optic backbone
4. Expansion of transport facilities all around the country (Airport, Harbours, Rail, roads)
5. E-education ( as the school are locked down, students are still receiving education)
6. Increased water provision to 84%
7. Increased electricity access 90%( New Nuclear Reactors will soon go into construction)
8. Reduced poverty to 18% currently
9. Eliminated hunger and starvation
10.Diversified our economy to a broad base productive economy that has led to a drop in import.
11. Made Education free and accessible to all.
