But it isn't over.

I don't know what use my visa will be of if it is eventually approved, its been since January and no invitation for interview yet.

Ideas are welcome.

Thank you all.

Sorry about the loss of pregnancy... I pray you never experience any loss again.

When your Visa is granted you will use it to born your next baby. Amen

Take good care of yourself and your family.

Congrats Afelouz. I celebrate with you.

I also have an update.
So a scan today confirmed I had lost my 12 weeks, 3 days old pregnancy.
So, I guess this is where this present birthing journey ends for me for now.
But it isn't over.

I don't know what use my visa will be of if it is eventually approved, its been since January and no invitation for interview yet.

Thank you all.
Your journey has not ended... In fact it's the beginning of smt great... I do think this Corona virus is also a reason why they're not responding to tourist visas for now...hold on. Take the time off and get pregnant again it'll end in praises

Hello everyone,

About three weeks ago, we welcomed our son and I immediately kick start the PR process.

I had to wait and do all this stuff so I can write a comprehensive post and I hope someone will find it helpful..

We had our baby in Sao Paulo, I don’t know if the process is different in another state.

Immediately after the birth of the baby, we were given a document that I took to the Cartorio to register my baby and get the original birth certificate of the new born.

A few days later, I proceeded with the baby’s RG registration at Paupa Tempo, (RG is the citizenship card of the Brazilian child and you need to make an appointment before going to Paupa Tempo), baby’s picture was captured and we were given a date to come and pick up the RG card.

With those two documents, I can now process the PR for my family and also apply for the baby’s International passport.

Below is a list of documents needed to process the PR.

Online application form confirmation page
Photocopy of all passport pages
Child birth certificate
Child RG
Birth cert translation ( embassy)
Police report translation ( embassy)
Original Police report cert in English
applicant CPF
Payment of 168.13 reais, 204.77 reais each or the PR application
A lot of declaracao (declaration) such as:-
Declaraco de endereco electrónico e demais meios de contato
Certidao estadual de criminais
Certidao de distribuição
Declaracao de residencia
Declaracao de manutenção
Prove or address in Brazil ( bill)
2 passport photo

As for the baby’s international passport, documents needed are:-

The Brazilian child birth certificate.
The Brazilian child RG
Parents international passport,
5x7 passport photograph of the Brazilian child
Online application form
Some declaração (declaration)
Payment of 257.25 reais
(Both parents must be present)

After getting all the documents in order, we went to police federal and submitted the PR application. We now have our protocols while waiting for the actual CRNM card...
We applied for the baby’s passport also and still waiting to pick it up.

Now, the process is not so easy as stated here, in fact, I got frustrated and misplaced my phone in the process. Despite reading the requirements here on this thread and having someone who has gone through the PR process here in Sao Paulo who helped me with the list of documents needed, yet, they didn’t collect our application. We went to Policia federal about 4 times before getting the complete documents. If you meet Mr ‘A’ today and he says you only need one documents and everything is good and you go with the requested documents and meet another person, that person will ask for another thing.

The language is a big barrier so Its better to get a sworn translator or anyone who can speak Portuguese to make things easy… they won’t read whatever you translated with your phone at Policia federal and most of all these places

NOTE - The PR application now takes less than two months In Sao Paulo, in fact, my friends who applied around ending of January got the CRMN card first week in March, that’s about a month.

As for the Nigerian visa for the baby, I'm still waiting for the baby’s passport and making enquiries. As soon as I am done with that, I will revert.

We didn’t get to extend our visas as the timing was right and we applied before our 3 months entry stamp expires.

I'm still gathering information on the provisional citizenship. hopefully, I can apply for my daughter before leaving Brazil If I get her CRNM card on time.

Also, If I remember any additional information regarding the PR process, I will come back and share….

Thank you all and good luck to those waiting to get their visas.

No need to book an appointment, just go the embassy with your document between the hours 10am and 1pm from monday to thursday.

Don't you think submitting visa application during this period of the covid-19 epidemic should wait.

Good morning all, please I’d appreciate a response because I’ve emailed the Brazilian embassy and no response yet.

My boyfriend (not legally married) want us to have our child in Brazil. He’s the sponsor. Will that affect any form of documentation needed for the Citizenship of the child? Same goes for us the parent, can we be granted PR and on the long run citizenship since we’re not legally married yet? Will this be an obstacle? And what are the possibilities around it? Please I’d deeply appreciate answers and ideas, on how to go about it.

Thanks.

Please do not complicate issues for others.. if you're serious use this time to gather all necessary documents and apply later after the covid 19 break there's enough info on the thread I don't see why you should mail the embassy... Thank you

I also want to know the minimum amount one need to have in the account bfor applying!

I would be grateful for prompt response!

Many thanks

All the information you need to apply for the Visa is on this thread. I just finished reading the thread from Page 1 cos my Baby girl arrived so I needed to refresh on the necessary documentation information here. It took me a day+ to do that, I advice you do too.

Let me give you a breakdown of living cost/ "getting yourselves to Brazil" cost cos that seems to be the only part of your question the thread does not seem to contain:

Visa Application cost: = 36,000NGN
Cheapest Flight to GRU, Sao Paulo: = 385,000NGN, about 450,000NGN to GIG, RJ.
Modest apartment in Sao Paulo with Bills (water, gas, electricity, cable/wifi): = 120,000NGN / month
Feeding: 50,000NGN per person per month.
Transportation Bus/Metro/Uber 50,000NGN/month

*NGN (Nigerian Naira)

The breakdown is just to give you an idea of what it cost to get to Brazil and to keep yourself sane. So make sure you have a good bank balance to show you can actually get to Brazil, survive the number of days you applied for comfortably, return home and your 'short' vacation wont dent your bank balance.

Ok. You don’t need the Carteira de identidade for the baby. You can apply for the passport without it. My child never had and does not have it and has a passport. The identity Card is something only used within Brazil as a form of identity if you don’t want to carry your passport all the time. Your baby’s birth certificate has every single information you need to fill the passport application form. In fact, the ID card info is not required during filling the passport application form. Your baby’s birth certificate is her ID, proof of citizenship and citizenship certificate. (That is why it is called citizenship by birth).

If you have time then do it but to the best of my knowledge it has nothing to do with the baby’s passport application nor your PR application. Please however cross check with your Policia Federal. Cheers

Thanks for the reply but I saw on the site requirement that identification document is required.

Hey TechSpot. I understand and the link is right and an official source. However keep in that the link is talking about family resident permit in general which can be a Brazilian inviting a spouse, spouse’s parents etc etc. Some things don’t apply to you.

Secondly, the place you highlighted states “identification document” and not ID card. The 2 are different. Your baby’s passport or birth certificate is an identification document. In fact the 2 i just stated hold more value than the National ID card.

That brings me to my earlier comment... in short, you don’t need the id card but if you are not comfortable just go for it. It is better to have more documents.

Try downloading the passport application form or the PR application form. It will give an idea of the documents you need or just walk into a Polícia Federal and ask for the list of documents.

Cheers

Hey Techspot, just like Adjo10 have mentioned, you can still go ahead without the Carteira de identidade and make use of the Certidao de Nascimento (Birth certificate) . However, it sometimes depends on the discretion of the officer that is attending to you at Policia Federal, some officers may ask for it and you might be lucky to meet the ones that would not ask for it. In my case, I collected the Carteira de identidade for my son before proceeding to apply for the passport and when i got to the point of application, the officer attending to me asked for it and I have also seen some persons too that did not collect the IDcard before proceeding to apply for their child's passport and they were granted with just the birth certificate. So that is why I said it sometimes depends on the officer that attends to you, they just use their discretion.
But you can try and proceed and apply for the passport with the birth certificate that you have, hopefully it should be granted.

Moreover, I will still suggest that even after you have gotten the passport, you can still apply for the IDcard, cos with just the IDcard, Brazilians can enter the Mercosur countries without having to present their passports at the point of entry. So that saves you the stress of carrying your Brazilian passport around.

Big congratulations on the birth of your baby, its a win-win for you and your family. Cheers bro
