BascoVanVeli: Exactly! But he played in an era when Nigerian and African football was at its peak. Those who watched the Nigerian and African league can attest to this. European league became popular in early 90s after some of our players migrated to Europe. 1 Like |

MainJoe: Let us see how it goes. Actually, the minister of health gave reasons why at this time we can't test everybody. That's was during the press conference this week with the presidential task force. Did you watch it? |

MainJoe: The reason is very simple, we simply do not have the capacity to do mass testing not even the testing of high risk groups. In Nigeria we are testing the rich and political leaders. Just like the UK. The UK supposed 5th largest economy in the world. Has been exposed a combination of poor leadership and long term strategic economic planning as well as poor infrastructural capacity. Consider this 550,000 NHS staff only 2000 have been tested. The reality is that you are more likely to get the virus if you go to hospital from the staff. In the UK for 6 weeks there has been no hand sanitiser available in the shops. Forget face mask that's not available either. Why because in the name of globalisation (cheap article) they have outsourced everything. They don't make tooth picks in the UK not cost effective. At least they are manufacturing hand sanitiser in Nigeria even government is giving it out for free with face masks. Maybe l should ny some in Nigeria and get it DHL to me here, absurd but that's the only way I'll get some. With out little resources Nigeria is doing well, yes they could do better but the nation is pulling together and will overcome. I think Nigerians should be commended doing a lot from very little. 2 Likes |

safarigirl: Very informative. Thank you. At the end, it baffles me how our leaders prioritise money over lives from the already down trodden people. The point you raised concerning the patient who had indeed recovered from the disease without knowing highlights the point. Many have it, are even recovering from it without knowing but are spreading the disease. The only immediate solution to curb the virus is by testing massively and isolating them. Just like isolating returnees before exposing to the public would have saved us a lot of headache, we need to start massive testing. In Italy, people are throwing money on the street after learning the hard lesson of how valueless money can be in desperate situations. The money at the disposal of the federal, state, local government and the NCDC must get channelled into testing to keep people alove. |

komekn: I am sorry but I can not commend gross incompetence. Because, the mismanagement of UK health system does not give any credence to gross ineptitude. In Nigeria we have money released and donated to curb this virus. Yet, we are yet to see investment in where it is most needed. We have States, sitting on massive IGR and allocations refusing to open testing labs or set up quality isolation centres. Without private sector donating, lots of State would not even have isolation centres. Until the federal government changes its policy on policing people and not the virus, I can not give them praise in any way. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by komekn(m): 1:14pm On Apr 04, 2020 |
forgiveness: Lack of capacity Nigeria will not be able to carry out comprehensive testing unless we can manufacture the testing kits ourselves. And overnight upgrade our laboratory services across the country. However, we have some things going for us the crazy hot baking sun, will barbecue Corona virus on surfaces and airborne after a few seconds. Add to that "Nobody One Die" that creates an attitudinal behaviour that self regulates with regards to social distancing, hygiene and face masks. And we have only 3 deaths. Yet everyone is aware, responding and we are locking down, at least most people, we go suffer hunger etc but it's the price to pay. The UK attitudinal approach is abysmal even after hundreds of deaths. People going around like "whaaten concern me" see picture below of tube jammed up, no face masks. I stopped entering the tube and going to London in early February. To me the signs were obvious. So Nigeria will OVERTAKE and OVERCOME. And after doing all you can do, Pray and pray. People in the UK are generally Godless. 1 Like

MainJoe: Agreed. But we are doing some things right and there are some people making a difference. With regards to the money, this is a problem once money gets into the equation in Nigeria. It's like a demon takes over and we seek to misappropriate, irrespective of the sector or situation and impact on people. Look at the Armed forces and young men left to die like chickens for lack of equipment . While our generals misappropriate and buy flats for themselves in Dubai. Unfortunately MISAPPROPRIATION is always a factor in Nigeria. And the thing that kills us mostly. Can a Leopard change its spots. 1 Like |

Humility017: NCDC set up eight labs, with more investment in that same time frame, they would have set up more. I am not buying that crap that it takes time to set up labs. If South Africa could improvise to have 67 mobile sites, we have no excuse to still play around with a meagre 8 when one was even donated by StanbicIBTC to the best of my knowledge. 1 Like |

MainJoe: Bro...like what Deji said on facebook this period will create emergency billionaires amongst some crooks in power What baffles me is the speed they claimed to have disbursed billions of niara to 2.6M households up till now I haven't seen anyone that received that money A reasonable government would have used the CBN (BVN) links to disburse such money to Nigerians with less than 50k in their accounts put together by so doing every household will b touched because hardly a Nigerian household without an account owner |

Even presidential briefings can best be handled by Him... I have said it severally many of the minister's like fashola and even amaechi will make a better president than what we have now Nigeria will likely not make progress not until tribal and religious sentiments are set aside You've such an assistant like osibanjo and you choose to keep him in the dark I just don't understand where is the leadership skills and integrity the supporters are boasting off all over 2 Likes |

Humility017: If you followed the President's speech thread, you would have seen my remarks. As soon as the President said they will continue the school feeding program despite children being at home, I knew that portion of the money was already gone. Money which should have been prioritised for urgent and rapid testing for the virus. He talked about waving some loans, do not worry, those are audio loans that are gone. We are paying the price of allowing dumb folks rule us. They are still thinking about what they can grab instead of channelling their thoughts into saving thousands of lives. I honestly hope for a miracle. Lockdown means nothing without testing, isolating and treating infected ones. |
