GabrielYulaw: No offense you don't understand because u can't understand . As simple as that . Isn't it ? ( And that is equally applicable to me and anybody else here , u r definitely not alone bro ) When I read these 7 words
I stopped reading the rest because u definitely don't have a clue as to what actually happened. Let me give a analogy When a person shits his pants every 15 minutes or so. Any general person will say the man is suffering from dysentery. A doctor will possibly come to the same conclusion but not always. But does that make us doctors ? We the general population make our judgements based on generalized perceptions / narrative with which we r familiar or which is fed to us or to with which we r receptive. But the doctor makes his judgements based on his knowledge and training. He can identify even the exceptions. Clueless / biased / ill motivated / etc people pen narratives in media which we the people due to our own clueless / biased / ill motivated / etc self , knowingly or unknowingly further it, untill it becomes widespread and then the norm . It's a vicious cycle. I hope u get what I am trying to say. Anyways to u r credit that's the best question I had put to me in a long time in nairaland. I was hoping somebody would ask about Afghanistan situation in the context of what I wrote , but u did better by mentioning LTTE. I will later tell u what actually happened 1 Like |

Re: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by Nobody: 11:09pm On Apr 03, 2020 |
GabrielYulaw: Yeah that's definitely another way to conclude the discussion . I don't mind . But nevertheless I will post my reply for others , they will judge for themselves Just a appetizer During the late 80s the Sri lankan government and army was busy supplying arms and money to LTTE , the same LTTE against whom they were fighting . Ironical isn't it ? 4 Likes |

ecomog1990: Its not only the hardware, the AFVs,gunships and cannons lacking but the software, the mentality that guides formational tactical doctrine and everything else, the training and warfighting must change radically. Fyi,2010 platoon commanders should now be coy and battalion commanders. I said it once and I reiterate: come to terms with BH for at least 2 to 3 years. In the interim bring back Eeben Barlow with a blank cheque to retrain the entire Inf. corps to a purpose built combat effective motorised formation anti BH formation with constant combat momentum. Anything else from what I've read not just here but in other forums would be a temporary band aid for arterial leg wounds. This top down reassessment allowed Sri Lanka to finally defeat the LTTE. A Colonel, who began the war as a 2nd Lt. has a fascinating read. In the final operation to defeat the Tigers, our professional military leadership and guidance, clear military aims, political leadership, and national will came together, shaping our military strength to meet our need. All three components of the Sri Lankan military's fighting power—conceptual, moral, and physical—had gone through rapid changes to prepare the forces to fight decisively against the LTTEhttps://globalecco.org/the-sri-lankan-civil-war-a-personal-reminiscence-col-sylvester-perera-sri-lankan-army A long read but worthwhile! |

nemesis8u: I'm sorry but there's not much in the world that's still ironic. As of the present, Syrian Arab Army personnel regularly sell arms and other supplies to the insurgents they are supposed to be fighting. That too happens in Afghanistan, but probably on a smaller scale. Also in Syria, Kurds allied with Turkey to defeat Daesh, before the two sides turned on each other like petulant school girls. |

komekn: The cost incl. entire life cycle maintenance, spares, a simulator and ordnance which really isn't bad, tbh. However the 4 year wait isn't the best use of scant resources . Frogfoot FAC, flyaway cost is 25 mn USD, annual flight cost 3.3 mn USD . [/http://nationsdawnofanera.weebly.com/-light-attack--training-aircraft.html] A squadron of 12, with 2 for training presumably to be found within 6 months would allow for a proper ops/maintainance and training cycle. Fyi, rebuilds are available.Allowing for an 80% flight availability that 600mn USD would last 3 years. Frogfoots are tailor made for CAS, heavily armoured and faster than gunships they carry max load of 6 T twice as much as L59s or Alphas. A pair with proper on ground target ID could devastate beseiging BH technicals in one pass. Edit: this Su 25 was hit by an Igla during the Georgian arse whipping. It flew again and ISN'T the only one to be rebuilt. How many jets can take a hit like that and still fly? Here's why: Thus, the pilot of the Su-25 benefited from an “armored bathtub”—ten to twenty-five millimeters of armor plating that wrapped around the cockpit and even padded the pilot’s headrest. It also had armored fuel tanks and redundant control schemes to increase the likelihood of surviving a hit[/https://nationalinterest.org/feature/russias-10-warthog-why-the-su-25-frogfoot-flying-tank-17499] WHO HERE THINKS AN L59/39,ALPHA OR EVEN A WARTHOG CAN SURVIVE SUCH A HIT!? 1 Like 1 Share

Fellow Africans I've come with some unsurprising yet puzzling news. As many of us know a day or two ago French docters went live on tv and debated using Africa as a Guinea Pig for disease experimentation and vaccine testing. The Democratic Republic of Congo has become the first African nation to officially announce that they will be taking part in these experiments. yoged: Sincerely Chadians Soldiers got so much morale. I have met some of them in Monguno and Naganzai. Lemme me don't praise them much in order not to look patriotic. The Last time ISWAP came to Monguno in January around 5pm dancing at our popular round about screaming that the Army should Come out. Sincerely if it was last year when the Chadians were around ISWAP will not come out so openly in that manner. Tho the Chadians too are quite careless from my little observation. Here in Monguno you will see a Chadian Land cruiser with a mounted gun and no Gunner controlling it, while the driver drives around. I have never see a Nigeria Hilux mounted with an AA With no Nigerian Soldier behind 8 Likes |

lebuhsi:The ops was joint ops The Air Task Force of Operation Lafiya Dole (OPLD) and Artillery Batteries of Sector 3 of the Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF) have destroyed an Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) camp at Tumbun Fulani on the fringes of Lake Chad in Northern Borno. The Acting Director, Defence Media Operations, Brig.-Gen. Bernard Onyeuko, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday in Abuja. Onyeuko said the feat was achieved in combined air and artillery bombardments conducted on April 3. He said it was in furtherance of the coordinated joint offensive by the MNJTF to dislodge and completely rid the Tumbuns Islands of terrorists’ presence and activities. According to him, the operation was executed on the heels of credible intelligence reports indicating that the ISWAP elements, with their structures concealed under the dense vegetation of the area, used the settlement as a base from where they plan and launch attacks. “Accordingly, the joint interdiction mission was launched with a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft coordinating the barrage of artillery and air fire towards designated targets in the settlement, destroying them and neutralising some of the ISWAP fighters in the process,” he said. Onyeuko also disclosed that the Air Task Force has continued to provide airlift support to troops of participating MNJTF national contingents, along with their logistics. He added that NAF ISR platforms and helicopters were also providing aerial command posts for enhanced coordination of close air support missions as well as fire control support for independent ground artillery bombardment of terrorists’ positions. The spokesperson reassured that the armed forces would sustain the offensive against the enemies of Nigeria in furtherance of the objective of restoring peace and security in the North East region. 3 Likes |

SamuelAnyawu:how shameful, so while Chad was conducting this offensive the military was still waiting for BH to strike? Is there anyone of you here that still enjoy talking about the Nigerian Armed forces cus I sincerely don't. They were waiting for BH to strike? When they were supposed to be cutting down terrorist escaping from the Islands. And then we have harrowing images of our soldiers promising harm on civilians. And we see Generals complaining about equipments which we have been doing here for years, it today that we started clamouring against depending on soft skinned vehicle for this war. Too many excuses have been given to explain incompetence in the Nigerian armed forces but Idris just made it clear that the war against BH is not necessary an expensive war, it is basically a war that can be won with determination, resolution and this clearly isn't the aim of the Nigerian side, the aim of the Nigerian side is to milk as much as possible from the war. Dumb online generals giving excuses for incompetence and comparing BH to the larger global terror network really don't know what they are doing. BH is locally funded, locally supplied and locally sustained. We are not fighting a war against BH we are just defending ourselves and looting ourselves that is why BH is winning. 9 Likes |

Toju200: Lure? They came into the main town and the Barracks is right inside the main town. ISWAP came in 13 gun trucks to attack a Nigeria military location with over 100 gun trucks. Let me don't mention MRAPs and others. My Brother that place was around 800 meters from the round about. to the barracks with over 2000 soldiers. The Killed some soldiers at the checkpoint called "Charlie1" That is the major Gate into Monguno manned by over 50 soldiers. The Soldiers had to abandon and flee. The Army fired Artillery, which instead were dropping inside the community. Well let me don't go deep into this misfiring. That was the day I almost lost hope in our Military. Our Military sincerely ain't motivated. 10 Likes |

Toju200:you know why yo military got low morale? Cus as you ride to the face of darkness you know a fat guy is looting funds meant for you somewhere and that your family might just lost you to a war you are poorly equipped for because of the greedy intent of someone else, isn't that depressing enough. 8 Likes |
