Guy Ikokwu is a pure Awoist. This was a man who was at loggerhead with his father Alvan Ikokwu, was a thorn to even Azikiwe himself and was even sentenced with Awolowo to prison for treason. Today the Yoruba’s don’t even mention his sacrifices for their tribalistic struggle. The same way they cornered the NADECO struggle and made it a post Yoruba nationalism. Guy Ikokwu must be reeling in pains now for fighting a foolish agenda with the Yoruba’s. Any non-Yoruba fighting for the SW political struggle ends up being forgotten and disgraced. Ask the late Nwankwo and Enahoro the NADECO leaders. 1 Like |

raumdeuter: That was why I concluded that Akintola was right. People like Enahoro, J.S. Tarka, S.L. Ikoku that instigated the AG crisis all betrayed Awo when it mattered most in 1979. Awo had the right ideas about governance but his politics was something else. He should have listened to Akintola’s advice and forged a good relationship with the Hausa/Fulani political elites. The Igbos he was trying to win over never gave a shiit about him. 5 Likes |

seunmsg:Lies! Zik’s NPP was alone. And Igbos didn’t vote for Shagari’s NPN. NPN was dominant in the SS states and north, while NPP won Imo, Anambra and Plateau states. The SS didn’t even vote Zik. The SW are the only tribalistic tribe who always vote theirs while push the buck on others. 1 Like |

LivingSage:Yes a Biafran General who stood for his people, he was forced to go by his subordinates in order to keep Biafra alive in the heart of Biafrans unborn, and Biafra is still alive till today. @ struck words, which evidence do you really need that he drank otapiapia or that he was betrayed? Very soon the remaining yoruba states will have emir just like kwara and kogi because it has already been sold before you were born. 1 Like |

seunmsg:Nonsense, yet the same Enahoro and SL Ikokwu we’re sentenced to prison with Awolowo for treason, while the so called Akintola and his Yoruba betrayers supported the north into incarcerating their own. |

Bonessaw: Stop revising history. Awolowo supported SL Ikoku with everything he had. He defeated his father to emerge as the only AG member in the eastern house of assembly because of Awolowo’s support. After that, Awolowo sacked Ayo Rosiji as the party’s Secretary General and replaced him with Ikoku. That decision was why Akintola left the Jos convention of 1962 angrily and everything broke down between him and Awo. Your assertion that Ikoku went to prison with Awo is false. When Awo was arrested, Ikoku ran away to Ghana. He was in Ghana till the military took over. He never went to prison. In 1979, did he join Awo’s UPN? Did he support Awolowo’s presidential campaign? Did he betray Awo or not? 6 Likes 1 Share |

Bonessaw: Stop lying. SL Ikoku was not imprisoned with AWO. He ran away to Ghana. Enahoro did not support Awo’s presidential bid in 1979. He didn’t even join UPN. If he had joined UPN, he would have been elected the governor of Bendel state instead of Ambrose Alli. 6 Likes 1 Share |

seunmsg:He did not betray Awolowo. SL Ikoku was sentence to prison with Awo but as you said fled to Ghana. And for your information, AG didn’t win the Arochukwu federal election because of an unknown Awo in the east, it was solely by the political Mavericks of a young SL Ikokwu who emerged a strong opposition to the NCNC in the eastern house. Awo saw in SL Ikokwu a trusted ally! He saw similar traits in Enahoro and had to make these guys his eyes and ears. And these men repaid the faith by sticking their necks for him. |

seunmsg:How would you expect SL Ikoku and Enahoro to stand with UPN when it was a gathering of tribalistic Yoruba’s. What did they gain supporting Awo? If not for the military coup Enahoro would have ended his youthful years in prison. The notable thing SL Ikoku gained from supporting the Yoruba’s was a street named after him in GRA Ikeja. How would you feel if you were in the shoes of SL Ikoku and Enahoro. |

LivingSage:Don't blame me blame your people they had the opportunity to stand and control their resources, but instead they prefer to be second citizen in their own country. Nigeria would have been great. But instead they prefer Fulani outsiders to dictate what happens in our country. |
