Coronavirus: The World Will Wish It Intervened If Nigeria Falls - Fareed Zakaria by TA4TA4: 4:43pm On Apr 06, 2020 |
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQXGuMHnW4Q CNN host, Fareed Zakaria has stated that the world will wish it intervened if Nigeria and Iraq falls to the Coronavirus pandemic ravaging some countries around the world. According to the TV host, we are still in the early stages of what is going to become a series of cascading crises. Fareed added that the people may not be able to get back to anything resembling normal life, unless the major powers in the world are able to find a way to cooperate and manage these problems together. The CNN host who admitted that some developing countries like Nigeria have recorded relatively lesser cases so far, added that there is a tendency they could fall to the disease. Fareed stated that if this happens, the cost in refugees, disease and terrorism will lead to regrets. He said; We're in the early stages of what is going to become a series of cascading crises, and we will not be able to get back to anything resembling normal life unless the major powers in the world can find some way to cooperate. “Even as we are just beginning to confront the magnitude of the shock caused by this pandemic, we need to wrap our minds around the painful truth. We are in the early stages of what is going to be a series of cascading crises reinvigorating throughout the world and we would not be able to get back to anything resembling normal life unless the major powers in the world are able to find a way to cooperate and manage these problems together. “The first phase has been the health care crisis in the world’s major economies. The next phase is the economic paralysis, the magnitude we are only just beginning to comprehend. Next comes the explosions in the developing world. So far, the number of infected have been low in countries like India, Indonesia, Brazil, Nigeria, probably because they are less linked in trade and travel than the advanced world. In addition, these countries have tested very few people which is key to keeping their numbers deficiently low. But unless we get lucky and it turns out that heat does temper the virus, these countries will all get hit and hard. “And then, there are the oil states. Even if the quarrel between Saudi Arabia and Russia gets resolved, at this point, the demand for oil has collapsed and will not soon recover. Consider what that means for countries like Libya, Nigeria, Iran, Iraq and Venezuela, where oil revenue makes up the vast majority of government revenue. “The vast majority be …the economy…. expect political turmoil, refugees, revolutions, crackdowns, maybe terrorism. All of these might happen on a scale we haven’t seen for decades. “If countries like Iraq and Nigeria explode, the cost in refugees, disease and terrorism would all make us wish we had tried harder to manage their fall." 6 Likes 1 Share

Nigeria's massive population has been more curse than a blessing. Sure, I know that Fareed is laying emphasis on Nigeria because of her population. However, I don't see this pandemic going out of control because Nigerian government is already taking steps that her overseas counterparts are taking, such as lockdowns and fumigation of public places. Lastly, I think the weather is to our advantage because viruses, no matter the source, do not survive in hot conditions. One of the reasons why it has hit the US badly is that the virus attacks better in cold conditions. Yes, the winter has refused to go away in the United States. 2 Likes |

Nigeria will not fall. We are a very strong country and we can withstand any situation. Fareed should be more concerned about US where thousands are dying daily and over 10m people have lost their jobs in just a month. 1 Like 1 Share |

ZombiePUNISHER:Even that isn't safe. The thieving elites could still hijack those and sell to the highest bidders. Best they can do is distribute directly to NGOs and traditional rulers (if they can). At least these aren't as corrupt as government officials. |

SoNature: People should stop playing this weather card. Is Spain, Italy and Florida cold ? Why is the vrus doing so well there. While countries that are really cold like Russia, Canada and most of the scandanavian and Eastern European countries are not even having much problem with the virus. As far as WHO is concerned they have said it that no evidence shows that the virus will not do well in warm countries. |

AndroBlaze: No living organism survives in intense heat, including human beings. https://www.healthline.com/health/how-long-does-hiv-live-outside-the-body#how-it-spreads This is common sense Yes, I have gone through the WHO Covid-19 Q&A, and what they said was that the evidence isn't available yet not that it's FALSE. The reason is that researchers are still trying to learn more about the virus even as they race to develop a vaccine for it. I mentioned weather as a contributory factor... 1 Like |

“The first phase has been the health care crisis in the world’s major economies. The next phase is the economic paralysis, the magnitude we are only just beginning to comprehend. Next comes the explosions in the developing world. This is a very troubling prognosis. In Nigeria, if we're lucky (for whatever reason), we may not get a major health crisis. The major crisis will be economic...first on a government level, then on the individual level. Even at an optimistic $57 oil price, our budget was already dismal. Things will go bunkers with oil price staying below $30. Fareed is not worried about Nigeria & Co from the health angle. It's the economic angle that he is most worried about, so some of the negative comments directed to him are not necessary. The federal allocations (FAAC) to states will drop significantly. Very soon, expect many state governments to start complaining about their inability to pay the new minimum wage. If this happens, expect industrial action from the labor unions. At the level of individuals and private enterprise, if the lockdown continues, there will be more economic hardship leading to protests & crime. If things degenerate quickly, expect the government to rollout the police and military to defend their battered political interests. At this point, things could get really messy as citizens defy the odds because they must survive. Things are about to get really messy on the economic side if things don't improve immediately and the economy is back to running. People need to go back to their private hustle else all hell will break lose. ....expect political turmoil, refugees, revolutions, crackdowns, maybe terrorism. All of these might happen on a scale we haven’t seen for decades. 2 Likes |

The so called developed nation this CNN idiot is calling on are in hot soup with thousands of the racist white pigs dying daily. So far, we have recorded five deaths and treated many while these white pigs have continued to die in thousands. That means whatever we are doing about the COVID-19, we are doing it well. So, USA, Italy, Spain, France and other white pigs should get book and biro, get classroom desks and chairs and sit down in a class while Major General Muhammadu Buhari and our Starboy Babajide Sanwo-Olu teach them CRS 101: Introduction to Crisis Management. If they continue in their stubbornness and racist ideology, Corona will wipe them all off the world map and we shall occupy their lands. |
