Its unsafe to eat this meat as it has a poisonous effects.

It resemble that animal with some kind of odour and they move in group too. We call it asingbo, meaning Asin inu Igbo, but other species z that that rat we do see in our compound that has long mouth, Asin

you're right, we call it ikpukpa in my Ohuhu dialect. If one crosses, more are bound to follow, making it an easy hunt.

This looks like Capybara.
Grasscutters have very long insisors. Most large cane rats have similar.

I used to kill the animal in ondo state at our farm we have 2 types of the animal the only difference between the two is that the other one has white color at the middle of its back and living in the forest but this one is known as AWUTA in yoruba language which is (ROCK RAT) and the other one is known as OFAFA in yoruba language which the English name is withheld..

Asin'ko in Yoruba, and bush shrew can be the description in English.
