What's the name?

It's called Tree Bear. It barks at nite on top of trees at nite. The Benin calls it Akuaghagha. This is the the baby though.

It is called Owawa in Yoruba and called Bush Dog in pigeon.

This animal mostly leaves on Palm Trees or Big Tall tress with ropes to enable it climb.

The animal barks mostly at night when coming down from the trees and does same when ascending in the early hours to scare other animals. The animal has sharp teeth like that of a Dog.

I have on several occasions hunted and killed this animal when I was much younger in the village.

The meat is safe to eat. I have eaten uncountable. Though the meat is a bit hard and not that sweet though when compared to Grass cutter, Squirrel and Antelope.

Guy, God bless you. You know this animal very well, we call it awhawha in my place. I have been looking forward to knowing the English name before now. The day we caught it, it almost attack me like dog

It's not everything you kill. God gave us dominion over the earth, doesn't mean we should be unnecessarily cruel. Because I doubt you'll use the dead animal for anything meaningful.

OP, you should be asking, "what potential viruses does this wild animal harbor, and how can I prevent them from mutating for human hosts such as myself?"

You saw something else. Gophers stay in burrows all their life...making an extensive underground network feeding on roots. They only surface during dispersal and perhaps mating. They are only found in southern US and northern Mexico

on that perspective I think Nigerians are better than the Chinese in what they eat and how they prepare it,I don't think any Nigerian will eat raw meat or fish but the same cannot be said for the Chinese,I gave up on those guys when I saw a cusine of 14 days old duck eggs with the partially formed embrayo been enjoyed as a delicacy by the Chinese, if a people can enjoy eating partially formed duckling with the tender feathers,Beck's,feet's ,etc, nothing again will be strange on their menu
