President Idriss Deby's Revenge Against President Buhari by ambu2: 2:56pm On Apr 07, 2020
On 18 April 1983, in a well planned operation, Chadian troops invaded and seized 19 Islands in the Lake Chad axis in Borno State of Nigeria. This deliberate territorial violation happened with the then younger Idriss Deby as the head of Chadian armed forces and Hissene Habre as President.

In reaction, Nigerian armed forces led by then GOC 3rd Division of Nigerian Army, Muhammadu Buhari countered the invading Chadian forces. Determined to make a bold statement to the Chadians and teach them a bitter lesson, General Buhari's troops did not just flush out the invaders. They crossed the border into Chadian territory and continued its pursuit. Orders from Nigeria’s President to halt his advance fell on deaf ears. Nigerian troops continued its advance until they were 50 kilometres from the N’Djamena, the Chadian Capital. Facing possible court marshal General Buhari stoped the advance and withdrew his forces.

Thus, while it was a humiliating defeat for Chad, it was was a sad experience and personal humiliation for Idriss Deby as head of Chadian armed forces. It was a dent on his career as a military commander. He never forgot that event. Eventually, he fought his way to become the President of Chad Republic, unseating Hissene Habre.

Consequently, when Boko Haram insurgency escalated in 2014 necessitating the formation of a Multinational force by Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad and Niger , President Idriss Deby of Chad played hide and seek game with Nigeria under former President Goodluck Jonathan. Chadian forces often fought independently and habitually whine about Nigerian Army being absent on war against Boko haram. He seemingly nursed a complex about Nigerian Army. He obviously had not forgotten the humiliating way Nigeria army repelled the Chadian army under his command back in 1983. Eventually, when President Muhammadu Buhari took over in 2015, President Deby became completely non-committal, deliberately frustrating every attempt to make the multinational force work. Meanwhile, Nigerian forces remained helpless about about terrorists that routinely cross border from Chadian territory to attack Nigerian communities and then ran back. Obviously, for President Deby, it was payback time for the man who once humiliated him and his soldiers.

Fortunately, something happened recently and the Boko haram terrorists attacked and killed Chadian soldiers. This sent a dangerous signal to President Idriss Deby and woke him up from from his pretentious slumber. Working with some Israeli mercenaries who had mapped the Lake Chad area, he simply gathered some of his elite soldiers and attacked the terrorists' camps and bunkers where the terrorists usually run back to and hide as safe haven after attacking Nigeria soldiers. Having decimated the terrorists and in the process putting a big question mark of the attacking efforts of Nigerian Army's Operation Lafia Dole, which he indirectly frustrated, President Deby is prancing around sneeringly with braggadocious attitude to emotionally hurt the man who once humiliated him: General Muhammadu Buhari the Commander-in-Chief once feared Nigerian armed forces.

I hope this new-found sense of pride in him will make him not to relent but to make good his words to continue his offensive and if possible kill the loquacious and blood-thirsty Abubakar Shekau.

I also pray that this recent successes will not get to his head and drive him to attempt another invasion of Nigeria territory as it happened in 1983. Any such attempt will add another humiliation to his military career.

Buhari was stationed in Ikeja and later Jos in 1983.

The only time Nigeria had a conflict in the NE in the 80's was against Maitassine sect and Buhari was never involved in the military clean-up then.

The useless BMC roach is a born liar.

All BMC roaches will be rounded up and tried as collaborators of this Satanic APC govt.

This whole lie began in 2014 with an article published in 2014 by one Dr Aliyu Tilde - a die hard Buharist Zombie.

The OP simply copied and pasted the article referencing a fake war that never happened which to the Fulani author was to paint Buhari as a brilliant war strategist and field commander.
https://saharareporters.com/2014/09/10/nigerian-military-yesterday-and-today-dr-aliyu-u-tilde
The article was meant to sway Nigerians to see Buhari as an effective General who will deal with BH unlike the bloody Civilian Jonathan.

This war like the useless OP is all fake and full of shitty lies.

I dare the OP to post a link outside NL or SR depicting this fake war.

Basking in past glory grin grin grin grin

You defeated Chadian soldiers but couldn't defeat Bokoharam

You make it sound as if the Chadian attacked Buhari instead of Bokoharam undecided

Alot of loopholes undecided

You (Buhari) knew where the Bokoharams are operating from and you couldn't man the Chadian/Nigerian borders

All these still shows how incompetent Buhari is!!!

See where the useless BMC roach got his cut and paste article from

Nigerian Military, Yesterday And Today By Dr. Aliyu U. Tilde
The comparison between yesterday and today for the Nigerian President and his military is truly odious. Nigerian leaders and indeed its military need to take a long, hard look at themselves. What went wrong and who are responsible for this state of shame?
by Sahara Reporters Sep 10, 2014
In 1983, some Chadian soldiers invaded some communities in Nigeria. Chad had been in a prolonged civil war and its soldiers were known to be ruthless.

Nigerian armed forces were under the simple going but honest President Alhaji Shehu Shagari as its Commander-in-Chief and the COAS or CDS was Wushishi (forgive my memory). The then GOC of the 3rd Division in Jos under whose command the Northeast fall was Maj. General Muhammadu Buhari. Surely, northerners dominated the top command positions in the military then.

Without hesitation, the GOC in Jos was given the signal to flush out the Chadians. But on his own, the stern Buhari was determined to, in addition, teach them a lesson they will never forget.

In a twinkle, Buhari mobilized his soldiers and personally led them in the field. Within few days Nigerian soldiers not only got the Chadians to flee but they chased the latter right into Chad. Buhari couldn't stop. It took quite some effort to get the soldier in him to pull the brakes. Later, he will claim that he didn't know that he was already deep into Chad.

Buhari the GOC had an excellent relationship with his soldiers. He never allowed superiors to oppress their juniors or edit their allowances. He was riding a 504 saloon car and lived in a simple bungalow along Bauchi road adjacent to the Unijos Main Campus. When he was appointed the head of state after the coup, his soldiers in the barracks went wild in happiness. He bade them farewell, not knowing that it will be forever.

Well the Chadians never dared encroaching into Nigeria again. Buhari has permanently imprinted a lesson in them: Nigeria is mighty and no rat should dare step in its foot. The success was possible because the military chiefs and officers then were truly Nigerian. They believed in their hearts, not in their words only, that that the territorial integrity of this nation is not for bargain, its military must be strong and well catered for, and money was not their goal.

Jonathan, a Niger Deltan, became President. He returned Azazi as his National Security adviser and with that a different course was charted for the military.....

......Now, Nigerians have seen what a different calibre of leader Jonathan is. Also, the world has witnessed the mettle of the people - from the former Eastern region - he has chosen to lead the military and fight the insurgency. Their estimation in the eyes of the world is very low. Never in our history has a Nigerian president been so much a subject of ridicule by world leaders and press. Never in the history of our military has it performed so disastrously bad in the protection of the Nigerian citizen and became a subject of international disdain and contempt to the extent that the Americans said they will not share intelligence with it. How could they do so when they knew among our military are sponsors of Boko Haram, as Stephen Davies recently disclosed. (And believe me I have not seen a soldier in Ihejirika because he instantly became rattled by the disclosure, failed to put even a faint defence but resorted to blaming the president and Elrufai for underfunding the military.)

From Ihejirika to Minimah, various international and local media reports have shown our soldiers as neglected, ill-equipped, underpaid and many of them sadistic - taking delight in torturing Nigerians and killing them - as we have seen in the reported massacres of Baga and the latest slaughter video which the authorities said they are still investigating.

This whole Chadian war was created out of thin air by a Fulani ethno religious bigot and Buharist supporter.

It is as fake as the lie that Buhari gave one of his daughter's hand in marriage to an Igbo Christian and that she had since converted to Christianity and living quietly with her family in Enugu.
