If you read the history of commercial farming or farming in SA it starts with Jan Van Riebeeck in 1652, by 1653 Jan imported 1st slaves to Cape Town 11 slaves from China, Indonasia and Madagascar by 1658 earlier that year he wrote a letter to Vic in Holland and told that company that the local VOC workers were "lazy to work start of boer laziness" and told them he wanted to import black agriculturalists from Angola as he saw that Portuguese favoured these blacks for agriculture later 174 Angola slaves were imported into the cape the were later joined by Benin republic 228 slaves (most of these died due to cold weather in SA since they came from warm weather and some transhipped to Batavia/Indonesia). By 1660s the slave population shrinked to 26 slaves most of these were Malagasy, Asians and Angolan slaves. The VOC decided to import slaves from East Africa, Madagascar and Asia after that no west coast of Africa came to the cape 1670-1834. In the early years there was a Mauritius born VOC official mixed race(euro/Asian coloured) guy named Simon van der stel he also wrote a letter to VOC complained about boer laziness like Jan and told them he was going to settle black and Asian slaves in what we know today as Stellenbosch and winelands area in Cape town in 1679 the 1st farmers and land owners if that area were Anthony van Angola, Manuel van Angola, Louis van Ceylon/Sri Lanka, Anthony van Bengal (Bangladesh) and other slaves. These groups farmed there long before the arrival of French Huguenots in 1688. The VOC officials like Adam Tax became jealous of these non white farmers and said the slaves were gaining confidence and will one day topple the VOC thru revolution. Then they sacked simon van der step who was seen as some one who empowered slaves. After 1702 the farms were taken away fr slaves and given to New Immigrants from Europe 1st case of land dispossession without compensation in SA. the founders of farming in SA both winery and crop, animal breeding in SA was started by slaves not freeburghers.

This is not a new argument. I have read this issues since 1990. It;s VERY VERY BAD.
