Hy Nairalanders,

I graduated last year and presently a Corp Member. I'm hoping to have my Masters degree in either Australia or Canada. Please for those that are there or perhaps have people studying in those countries, what would you advise or which of the countries would you recommend? And also the costs too, if possible.

By the way, planning to have my Masters in chemistry. I read chemistry and education.

Canada is best because of their way of life and proximity to the United States but however, I will advise you to go for Australia if you have the funds because an Australian visa is easier to get as compared to a Canadian visa.

Nevertheless, both countries offer the same package after graduation so it's a win win.

He will need 10500 euro for block account in Germany,then about 850 euro will be given to him monthly when he lands.
That's about 4.5 million naira .
Minus money for admission process
Certification of certificates
Visa fee
Ticket

With the 3m you can land yourself to any of the above mentioned countries but not Germany.

what you need to do is look for a sponsor with up to 10m in his bank statement for the visa application.

apply for admission and pay half fees but be ready to with hard and smart when you get to your desired country so as to enable you pay to the remaining fees left.

However, if you were to opt-in for Lithuania or Estonia then that 3m will cover your full tuition fee + flight and accommodation.

You need 15m proof of fund for Australia admission, abt 4m is paid b4 the school gives you letter to apply to the embassy. Visa application fees is also huge, but if you meet their requirements, they will approve your visa. After studies you can apply for 190 or 189 visa. Infact, you should consider this first b4 knowing the state to apply for admission. You can check the discussions on Australia student visa in the travel thread for more info

For Canada, you need abt 10m or 10 to 15m . calculate your school fees and living expense plus books, semester fees, etc. This money must be in the account for minimum of 3 months ( not sure if it is 3 or 6 months) . Canada can deny you visa with stupid reasons as tie , but with their new online applications via my bank, I believe they should be better now with more success rates. I have not seen anybody that studied in Canada that came back.

Housing is more expensive in Australia. Their rent is paid weekly, but as a single, you try and get shared apartment. You can move out as soon as you gain your ground.
Australia is very far ( almost the end of the world ) so flight fare is more expensive,almost double that of Canada.

Overall, if money is not an issue, I prefer Australia over Canada for a young man like you, or simply put- upwardly mobile. The minimum wage of Aussie is abt 20aud per hour while lots of ppl in canny earn 10cad.
Ppl say Canada is open to USA job MKT, Australia is also open to new Zealand ( which I hear pays well) .

Canada offers Post Graduate Work Visa, most likely you will get a job within this period, work for 1 or 2 years and file for permanent residence.

Netherlands only offers 1 year post graduate work permit to find a job and an employer will have to apply for your permanent residence, compared to 3 year post graduate work permit you will receive in Canada when you are done your Masters. Once you gain 1 year full-time work experience in a National Occupational Classification(NOC) that ranges from skill type 0-B after you graduate, you can apply for permanent residence.

I know a few Nigerians who went to Netherlands and were not able to find a job within a year and are now back in Nigeria.

The job market is Canada is not best right now. I know a girl who was not able to obtain the 1 year work experience despite having three years to achieve the requirement, which is an extremely rare occurrence and is now back in Nigeria.

Australia and Canada offer the same duration for post graduate work permit. Australia has the edge weather wise,in that the climate is similar to Nigeria. Canada on the other hand has snow for 6-7 months out of the year. The edge it has over Australia is it's close proximity to USA,Mexico and the Caribbean if you plan on doing some travelling.

It is not all work and hustling all the time. You need to still find them to enjoy and see the world and have faith and belief things will always work out.

Please am not understanding you mean for Masters degree program in Canada i will have to pay 10-15m for tuition fees or it covers everything plus flight over there. I'm not understanding so 15m is what I'll arrange for payment before i can study over there or you mean it will be what I'll have in my account or what

If you want to do Masters in the top universities and it will around that range for two years Masters program to cover tuition,accomodation and other expenses. However, if your able to obtain a scholarship due to academic performance or grant from your university you can lesson the cost by up to a million naira.
