Meat Pie

DOUGH
1½ cup flour
100g margarine (I didn't have scale..so I used 3 pressed)
Pinch of salt
¼ + ⅛ cup water
⅛ cup egg (about ½ egg)

Mix the flour, salt and margarine with your finger tips till it becomes grainy
Make a well in the middle of the flour mix. Add in the egg and water (1 tbsp at a time) till the mix comes together.
Wrap in a cling film and set aside in a cool place or a refrigerator

FILLING
1 medium sized carrot (diced/cubed)
2 green beans (diced)
1 medium/big Irish potato (diced/cubed)
Vegetable oil
Onions (cross chopped)
Minced beef (I used 100 naira beef. The Aboki helped in chopping it into bits..you could also use already prepped minced beef or corned beef depending on the quantity you need and the availability)
Knorr seasoning (1 cube)
Garlic and ginger powder
Curry
Salt to taste
Black pepper or chilli pepper (it depends on how hot you want it)
Corn flour + H20

Boil your potato and carrot in water (a bit salted) for about 5 mins..(it shouldn't be too soft...Al dente at least). Drain and set aside
Saute your onions in your hot vegetable oil till translucent. Add in your beef and fry till it changes from pink to brown (if using corned beef or minced beef). If using raw beef, season and steam first before using.
Add in your potato, carrot and green beans dice. Add in little water and allow to cook.
Add in your spices and seasoning to taste.
Mix your corn flour (or all purpose flour) with water to form a runny paste (about 1½ or 2 tbsp with little water)
Add to the tasty veggies on heat. Stir immediately so the mix will be thick evenly.
Remove from heat and set aside to cool

Roll out, shape and cut your dough with anything you have at your disposal. Put in your filling, seal and coat with egg wash. Also, poke the surface with a fork so heat can escape and cook the dough top properly.
Bake in a preheated oven..not too high or low temp for about......I didn't really time mine. I kept checking with my eyes.

Thanks!!!

It is quick oat baked with either honey or maple syrup. One of the best things ever. Nice to take it with dried nuts, dried fruits, and milk.
Wow..... thanks. Can you help me with the price? Is it more expensive than quick oat?

There are pages on IG that sell off such, the problem is, majority are in Lagos. The cost of delivery might eat deep.

Thanks Brother...Since is your first time, i advice you also check it on YouTube before cooking.. Because the Isokohs, Urhobos, Itsekiris and Bini have different method of cooking this soup...

OWOH SOUP.. Africa kitchen

INGREDIENTS
~ Any meat of your choice
~Smoked Fish
~Seasoning
~Palm Oil
~Tomatoes
~Native salts (Potash or Kanwa)
~Pepper
~Crayfish
~Yellow garri (sieved)/ optional
~salt

PREPARATION

●Boil your meat with just salt and season cube. Once they have cooked, add your blended tomatoes and pepper....Add your smoked fish and crayfish.

●Dissolve your potash in water and add to the pot and bring to boil. Add your garri and stir (I don't use garri )

●Allow it to cook.. In a few minutes you will notice that the addition of the potash has caused the watery stock to thicken a little....Take it off the heat and let it cool down a little, like 10 to15 minutes.

This last stage is like magic.. I prefer you also check it on YouTube to see how it form while stirring in your palm oil to get it right.

●Stir in Palm oil into the pot. The soup will thicken and the colour will change to yellow.

Serve with Starch, boiled ripe plantain, boiled yam or Garri.

NOTE:

* please don't add curry, thyme or onions etc while cooking your meat.. just salt and seasoning cube.

*Taste for salt before adding extra, because the Potash is salty.

* Dont add too much crayfish, because it darkens the soup.

* Don't cover your pot after adding the Potash(native salt)

* It looks creamy

* Use the thick part at the bottom of your palm oil gallon

It is more expensive because of the process of making it. It is usually about 6 to 12 times higher than regular oats per gram depending on the mix you buy. Some have it mixed with sunflower and flax seeds, some with pumpkin seeds, some with hemp seeds so it makes the price vary. The easiest if them can be made yourself at a much cheaper cost.
