My first initial thinking is that it might have been an asteroid. But since no large rock has been located nearby, I'll go with the Police explanation even though they are doing a terrible job of explaining how it actually happened.

It was explosion. So, how would you see a large rock from an explosion. Most meteors burn out in earth atmosphere. Very few survive to land on earth surface. And when they do they create a crater, and the size of the crater depend on the size of the meteor and speed of the meteor.

when an asteroid or meteorite approach the earth from space (space have no air) in high velocity and heat air compression in the atmosphere(nitrogen, hydrogen and oxygen + asteroid heat) forces itself into openings in the meteorite or asteroid causing it to explode like a bomb.

Your explanation is a bit confusing. But I guess I know what you meant. The meteor burns out once it hit earth atmosphere as a result of friction with components in earth atmosphere. A lot of heat is generation from the friction. So, that's it burn out but few survive to hit earth surface.

It’s not a meteor or asteroid, looking at the aerial view, meteor or asteroids don’t drop vertically, they slid Horizontally due to the earth’s rotation and gravitation pulls. That’s definitely a bomb explosion.[/b]

Sorry Mister, where do you get this info from. They always hit an angle. And that will determine the shape of the crater or whatever shape is caused by the impact. Sometime, they come at very low angle that is near horizontal direction but never parallel.

Hi everyone, I am from Canada and have been doing some research on these crater type formations. I believe its caused by an electrical explosion from natural bacteria in the ground called geobacter.
There are many kinds of geobacters. Some eat sulfur, some eat metal. They are being used in fuel cells to produce electricity and grow without air. I think when an area floods the bacteria is deposited and grows in the soil if conditions are right. A big charge can build up if it connects with water in the soil and explosion occurs. You can see there was some kind of energy escaping at the edge where the groove was.
I don't believe meteorite. If there is metal bits found it may be metal ore in the soil that fused from pulse. The governments do not want you to know about this material because any person who uses it can produce electricity if they make a fuel cell.
I was wondering if there is a stream or pond in the direction the groove was heading?
Throw more light on this please..

Oga that's that signature truck bomb crater ,please stop all this ...oya tell me what you think it is ?

I don't think it's a truck bomb.

My suspicion was a truck carrying industrial chemicals exploded.

There was a factory that exploded in a rural area in Nevada state, USA about 30 years ago. The blast could be heard tens of miles away and even caused damage afar.

The government might not want the factory using such a chemical or gas shut down, hence decides to deceive the public.

You can't be serious. Are you seriously telling me that it's not dynamite sticks they use in blasting stones? I know that they used to mix things inside.

Let me tell you something. I am from Akamkpa LGA in Cross River State..(Netim to be precise) we are the headquarters of granite and limestone in this area. We have up to 30 quarries here producing chippings, we have UNICEM (now Lafarge) cement factory at Mfamosin. I cannot remember the year I first saw how they blast stone here.

I don't think you have ever entered where there is stone before yet you are arguing.

You from netim?

Guy if truly you are from old netim and have truly worked in a quarry then you will know that that blast was not done by the kind of dynamite used in quarry.

I have worked in Crushed Rock ( old netim), prodeco (old netim) Rcc ( Akampka) and Ground Resources ( ekondo) old netim and I can tell you that explotion is not from quarry
dynamite

You Really chop netim be that na ,that community is blessed tho..

Unfortunately the community is now a shadow of its former self.

Almost all the companies in Akamkpa as a whole have closed if not for some Chinese companies in awi, Orbon, old netim and some other communities I can't remember there name's for now
Akampka with all its Resources is gradually losing it.

I really Miss Okomita and my 25 girlfriends ooo

The issue of tax have driven lot of companies out of cross river especially quarries companies in akamkpa local government, due to large amount of TAx and community Levy's.
The Chinese companies that are operating at awi have really exploited the companies of it resources and lands and worst of all the ill treatment of their indigenes.companies like crushed rock and prodeco where the best companies in old netim..

You really catch cruise with em okomita baes menh....i believe.

You're right my brother.

The absence of indigenous companies in Akampka has really reduce competitions thereby making the Chinese companies arrogant and proud at the same time.
For Akampka to regain its lost glory, the indigenous companies need to reopen.

Those college of Education girls in Awi, Akampka town girls and old netim girls are something else. Just mention quarry site supervisor and boom they're all urs
