Following allegations of a scam in the National Social Investment Programme (NSIP), a Federal lawmaker, Ben Kalu, has further questioned the Special Adviser to the President on NSIP, Mrs Maryam Uwais on the credibility of the implementation of the programme.

The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development had earlier in April commenced the payment of conditional cash transfer to poor households in Abuja to assuage the effects of COVID-19 lockdown.

Kalu, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Media in an interview on Channels Television breakfast programme, Sunrise Daily on Thursday said the Federal Government should be more transparent about how the money is disbursed by making public the names of the beneficiaries of the programme.

“We are faced with a crisis. This is an intervention programme. We are supposed to feel the impact now. The poor should feel the impact of this programme.

“You said you shared money recently and I represent a constituency. And there are 360 of us (Federal Lawmakers) and all of them are saying we are not feeling the impact.

“Who are you paying this money to?. Where is the register you are using? How did you compute that register? Where are you publishing it? ,” Kalu questioned.

He added that, “You said you paid 100 people from my constituency, we cant see them. Are they ghosts? Are you paying ghosts? Publish their names let us see the beneficiaries.”

In response, Uwais also during the interview on Channels Television said the Ministry worked with traditional rulers in identifying the poor households that benefit from the programme.

She added that the law (FoI Act) forbids making public the names of beneficiaries of grants without their consent.

“Section 14 of the FoI Act says people who receive social grants should not be published or made disclosed without pre-consent,” Uwais said.

The Senate President, Ahmad Lawan and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila had earlier on Tuesday faulted the implementation of the programmed after a meeting with the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Farouq in Abuja.

They called for the immediate suspension of the register used for the scheme when they were informed by officials that accompanied the Minister to the gathering that some N12billion was being paid monthly for school feeding programme without verification.

The claims of this government are only felt on paper. They have incurred #27.4 trillion Naira debt. Just know that most of our leaders aren't thinking positive about u and I.

Case closed! They thought they have perfected the sleaze!
If the leadership of the NASS fail to institute a powerful probe into this glaring fraud in the SIP, then they are truly rubber stamp as alleged.

I've seen videos of a handful of them receiving the fund on T.V, isn't that contrary to the same Act they're quoting?

APC is the biggest scam in the history of this country. As well, the current legislature is the most useless in the land. No check and balance at all cos they are just the appendage of the executive. If Nigerians are serious and ready for change, this is the time cos Buhari and his goons think we are all fools.

It shall not be well with whoever is in charge of this type of looting. The habit of over inflating cost in this country is becoming unbearable. Did I just hear 12 Billion naira monthly for school feeding. Mathematically, it means we are spending 144 Billion Naira annually. And this one is just for the school feeding that takes place once in a blue moon. How about other audio social investment programme like the NPower, TraderMoni etc. The mass looting in this country has been happening since the 1970’s till date.

It’s no longer hidden anymore. Every Nigerian knows that this country is stupendously rich. Rich to fund the budget of all African countries put together. But years of massive looting, corruption, tribalism and nepotism have push us further as a poverty infested nation. Many of us pretend as if all is well, yet we remain one of the worst places in the world to survive.

The cost of living in this country is scary - when prices of goods go up they never come down, unemployment and joblessness is another hydra-headed problem, security is by the grace of God; I don’t even want to talk about health care, that one is worst than COVIK 19. And the worst among all is that we’re highly divided along ethnic/religious lines to agree on a common ground. Evil thrives in this god forsaken country. Well established evil thrives here!

We boast to be the Giant of Africa. Oh yes, the audio biggest economy in Africa. But when you look deeper, that feat is not because of how we utilized the oil proceeds, it is solely because the bulk of the fake growth is purely by the sweat of Nigerians home and abroad. From foreign remittance from law abiding diasporans, to 419 Scams, Yahoo Yahoo, Drugs, International prostitution, Substandard importation from India and China etc. All these shady deals where what empowered the local industries - Nollywood, Music, Entrepreneurship, Hospitality and the rest. The Government have never done anything righ. All they do is launder our monies in foreign banks accounts for their generations unborn.

A country where even war thorn countries as Iraq and Afghanistan can get foodstuffs way cheaper than in Nigeria. This tell you how deep we’ve sunk.

I think it’s high time the fate of this country is decided for good. Yes! If we cannot carry out a violent revolution and factory reset this country for good, then we need to sit down together and divide the bottomless pit.
Our taki taki and mumu don do. It’s time to act!

Left to them, you should allow APC to loot in peace. Don't expose them in order for the false image of integrity to remain. Sorry fellows
