I have been wanting to ask this question for a long time.

Personally, from my parents to the last kid of my family who is only 8 yrs old have a good handwriting.

So I always wonder if it is anywhere related to genetics.

I am very sure it is because 2 of my siblings and I have exactly the same handwriting as my dad... To the extent that if one person writes something, you'll find it very difficult to know who exactly wrote it.

nope it's not, I think it depends on whoever assisted you to write during ur tender days, I have thesame handwriting as my dad, but I believe it's as a result of my dad holding my hands during my tender years when I was learning to write
Re: Is Handwriting Genetic? by ecclize: 5:45pm On Apr 11, 2020
i can refute this for sure...
but going by my family experience no will be my answer because we all hqve different handwriting while some are cool some are not too cool...
i might be wrong anyway

Not necessarily, but in some cases our temperament does affect our handwriting.

I don't believe it is.

Used to have very bad handwriting until I started imitating my primary school teacher. I now have the only good handwriting in my family.
i improved my handwriting after imitating my pry school teacher too! man writes like a computer!
on the other hand, i can easily write like my mom and dad also...
i think its got to do with whosoever one gets used to and developing of the interest.

My handwriting is a nightmare, a shadow of it self but my dad's and mom's bold and fine... I have tweaked it several times just for it to look bold and fine at the end bold Yes fine No... During exams my hand writing scares me but I can't disown it I have learnt to love it omo life goes on my brother.

I don't think it is.
Writing is a skillful art you learn to do.
Your parents probably paid attention to details of writing during their time when education was still of standard.

Your sibling may also have a good writing lessons in his school as most private schools have made it a compulsory subject for pupils and a criteria for teachers to have the knowledge or certificate in that regard. So pupils are taught the art of writing skilfully using cursive and Nelson writing.
Some schools even employ the services partime teachers like us who major only in writing or have a knowledge of the Nelson's and Cursive writing courses to take the pupils specially.

So its not genetics. It is learned.
I have taken some on writing and today their writing is top notch. its best to start when they are just beginning to write immediately after their pixa grip firms up for flexibility.

Though anyone can learn to write better again at any age.

Well, everyone in my family has a good hand writing. I'm the only exception. The only thing I dislike about my academic life through out uni was my handwriting but I did my best to graduate well (among the top 15) in my set without extension in a very demanding course (chemical engineering). Our practical report is something else, you can ask people that studied or presently studying CHE. My handwriting failed me in a lot of way during uni but that's past now. In real life (not academia) no one cares about your handwriting just provide solutions to problems and pursue continuous knowledge you're good to go.

P. S. My long epistle above is to encourage people like me out there with bad handwriting that there's hope cause i know it can be depressing. Just make your hand writing readable/ legible even if it's ugly like mine.

So there are teachers who base in teaching writing? Didn't know this.
I remember that my handwriting teacher don't give a damn, the man will just write one stupid sentence on the board like "i love my parents" and will ask us to bring our handwriting notebook to start writing.
