Your mother is responsible for the handwriting you have, not your dad. Mothers pass that info to offspring not fathers.
See your theory... cheesy. My hand writing is far better than that of my Dad and Mum. It looks nothing like theirs sef.

I have been wanting to ask this question for a long time.

Personally, from my parents to the last kid of my family who is only 8 yrs old have a good handwriting.

So I always wonder if it is anywhere related to genetics.

Yes I think so, and sometimes similar between siblings. In my family, all children have good handwriting, including our parents. Mine and my brother's and sister's look similar yet different still.

No. It is just that they like having good handwriting in the family.

Well, my parents where bankers before they retired in the 90s, so their handwriting is extremely beautiful, but mine is as worst as they come. I later found out that I was ambidextrous, because I was forced to always use my right hand, while I was actually born a lefty. So I'm not sure I am an autority in this area.

for me I don't have same pattern of writing, different ball pens, different writing pattern's, my writing using a pen is always different from my writing using a pencil. I can't really say look at the way my writings look like, because different scenarios can inference my writing looks.

By the time a lecturer dictates fast, that when you know if you have a fine hand writing

As for me,I have this gift, when I sees someone with a fine writing, I go home, and coy same way the person write, also my writing comes depending on the tip of the pen,if I have 10 different tip of a pen, I produce ten different handwriting

2013/2014 sets of CAC, Kaduna,Sabin Tasha. Ss3 sci D ,they will know who is typing this

I agree with you... Though I do not consider my handwriting as beautiful, but the kind of pen I use in writing also plays a part.. Reason why I do not like to use a pen anymore once I have used about 2/3 of the ink.. the ink flow becomes heavy and makes my handwriting more ugly.

I write heavy too when I use pens. Lol.

It doesn't matter how I try, the penmanship must always come out in heavy ink. I suspect I developed this innate behaviour from when I was little and got too tired of sharpening pencils. And even though my penmanship isn't bad, it hardly varies as per mood.

Thing is if you're someone who admires the beauty of art, which is to a large extent genetic, chances are that you'd appreciate good handwritings, and dedicate time to achieve dexterity.

I remember as a teenager, I stumbled on a letter my uncle had written to my dad. I fell so much in love with those sublime strokes that I stole the letter and rehearsed the intricate weaves until I achieved perfection.

Whilst almost everybody admires calligraphic masterpieces, not everyone is diligent enough to learn it. So I think it's a potpourri of genetics and training.

Man!! You nailed it!!

Just when I thought of writing a comment like this...

Depends largely on the surface and or texture of the sheet I'm writing on, I particularly don't like writing on plain sheets, it's way too whitish and plain, the lack of lines to write on doesn't make it any easier. But then I fancy papers with somewhat darker, thicker texture like those from a diary. You know from my primary school days my teachers talk of milk paper and I can't recall the other kind, but it's milk paper I don't like. And there's talk of how brilliant people don't have good handwriting.
P.s it's watercolor paper

i think to a large extent it is,because of your physical features e.g your fingers the way you write depends on how you grip your pen, finger gaps, length, breath span and join flexibility all these are inherited traits passed on from parents,i write 85% like my mum.we have similar hand features.

Seeing your handwriting now just reminds me of my classmate in secondary school. Emmanuel Ajagbo by name, this dude has the best handwriting in da whole wide world.

When he writes, it looks like machine printed italics. Even teachers in the whole school borrows his notebooks to use as example. You guys makes me ashame of mine cos I've got doctor's handwriting.

I can write a prescription and give to you now, then you come back later and ask me to help you read the damn note, my answer will be... Wtf.. Who da hell drew this chicken dance here? That's how bad mine is.

I don't think it's genetic/hereditary cos my late Mom and Dad got nice ones, even my siblings too. I'm even scared of my handwriting, mine is baaaaaaaaad hahahaha
