If only these agricultural companies had the interest for humanity what they should have done was to make contacts with international humanitarian organisation to help ship and transport those produce to other poor country instead of wasting it like that, But because they are after profit and price stabilization they preferred to destroy and waste them.HUMAN GOVERNMENT HAS FAILED. 7 Likes |

This is one area that governments globally have failed woefully. Food security has always been the exclusive of private companies and individuals. It exposed the incompetents of government to coordinate proper food distribution along the entire food value chain. And you have knuckleheads chairing boards of that useless UNFPA. Sometimes, I ponder if humanity actually need government to survive. Aside from taxing individual to death and making Draconian laws that put hindrance to human development, engaging in senseless wars, printing and controlling where and how money flows, what better use is government? 12 Likes |

Bros, even the country throwing the food away is hungry....they just got no choice. You must milk the cows, the layers must lay eggs, the vegetables must be either harvested or destroyed! The storage facilities are filled and the produce were made for large scale immediate consumption. But the restaurant chains are closed and the final consumers are under lock-down Freeeanijor: 9 Likes 1 Share |

Chineduokeanwu: The food was destroyed because nowhere to store it. Take for example, you have a deep freezer in your house, you stock the freezer with food and it gets filled up, then tomorrow all your neighbors bring food to you as Easter rice etc, where will you store the new food given to you by all your neighbors? You will end up throwing some away. 7 Likes 1 Share |

Well said. Food needs to be available (especially to people who are out of jobs from staying at home) to avoid a new breed of food bandits as is already being reported. Something such as food distribution centers need to be set up strategically to cater for the poorest Nigerians, some of who depended on a living wage to survive daily. Medical supplies are critical to healthcare, however food is even more critical to the public to prevent anarchy. Amotolongbo: 1 Like |

Amotolongbo: You just think "africa" should be a dumping ground. The milk has to be processed within 48 hours. There are no extra trucks to carry the milk. "Africa" produces enough food however most of it is lost because we dont have good preservation and distribution. You keep wondering why things are not gettibg better in "africa' but want to import rubbish. This is how the clothing industry was destroyed. East african countries trief to outlaw used clothing but american and other countries with intesrests in selling used clothing would not free their govts to act accordingly. Kokoro ti ounje efo... finish it. 5 Likes 1 Share |

A lot of people with gross inability to read and understand are making contributions driven by their hunger and innate desire to always rubbish Nigeria and indeed the African continent. Granted the African continent is beleaguered by a litany of problems but that should not cause us to lose our self respect enough to feel comfortable with asking for food from dustbins. Hunger is real but the solution is not begging! 7 Likes 2 Shares |

Most of the people to drive shipments are likely under lockdown. Also, the farm output and logistics may be mostly local and may not have factored interstate shipment especially with perishable goods that do not use preservatives (based on customer requirements and local regulations). So the farm needs to purge itself of wastes in the short term to survive. This is similar to the close of Nigeria’s borders where trucks of goods got stranded. All perishable goods become a problem for the driver (and owner of the goods) in a matter of days. Force majeure! todugo: 3 Likes |
