I'm married with one kid. My husband lost his job when I was seven months pregnant. We are no longer living together. I'm back to my dad's house with my step mom and 4 siblings.

Things are not easy for us here because my step mom hated us from day one. She only cooks for herself, my dad and her children. She don’t give me and my baby and my brother from the same mom food. I have been managing with the little money I get from my husband. I do cook for us to eat that’s a story from another day.

Last week I went to meet with my husband to get money he promised to give me to stock up foods for us during this lock down. I left my baby with my brother only for me to come and meet my brother carrying my baby. She was screaming in pain and when I looked she had burn in her body from her right chest to her right hand. I almost collapsed because I left my baby very fine in good healt.

My brother said my step mom was preparing tea for her kids so she had left the hot water in the pot and my baby fell on the hot water. I got angry at my brother how could he be careless not to watch my baby when he knew our step mom don’t like us. I almost hit him and my step mom didn’t care. She acted like nothing, not even a sorry to me. My dad says I should be quiet accidents do happen and it’s nothing to be angry about. His words really shocked me but what can I do.

What pained me is my little sister of 5 years opened up to me that it was my step mom who poured water on the baby because she caught my baby eating her bread she left and she told her to keep quiet if she tells she will beat her and she pleaded with me not to tell her mum.

I knew she did it because she is very wicked but because I had no proof, I had to be quiet but now her daughter has confirmed she did, I want to deal with her because am so angry seeing my baby in so much pain.

Why pour hot water on a baby just because of bread? I hate her and I want to pour hot water on her too while she sleeps so she can feel the same pain she put my innocent baby.

Should I pour hot water on her too or what is the best way to deal with this witch?

Babe I think it's better u go home to ur hubby. Ur hubby Loosing his job isn't enof reason for u to keep jeopardizing ur peace of mind n safety. U are married n competing for relevance in ur father's home with ur stepmom wow.I think she is yet to do her worse n I pray ur baby isn't the one to still be at the receiving end of ur beef with her. Please go n manage ur home with ur hubby.

Madam let me be honest with you.

First, your step mother and father doesn't owe you a meal, you are not their responsibility, whatever they do is a privilege not a right. Its your lil brothers right though. Anytime they do is for kindness. Just pray things turn out well for your husband. I understand that you can't work now just start mentally getting yourself out of that house look for how to make money on your own.

Secondly, since you didn't report initially and have no prove, assume that you accidentally poured water on your baby, the baby will heal fast and most likely won't leave a trace. You father saying you should forget it is not wrong. Stop living like there is a conspiracy, even if there is ignore and take it one day at a time.

You will leave this stage, just make the best out of it. Take care

Please report this matter to the police. We can't keep letting people abuse our children and keep quiet because of "harmony".

I am very curious about your Dad though. Why is he allowing this to happen? I've never understood how a man can tolerate any woman mistreating his children, whether stepmother, second wife, or whatever. You mistreat my kids, your ass is out.

I will never understand how people get married and have kids in certain conditions

OP, why are you waiting for your husband to give you money for everything? Didn't you have a means of making money before marriage?

I'm so sorry if I sound harsh, but do you people think marriage can run on vibes and Inshallah? At the end, the only victim here is an innocent baby.

Why will you birth kids you can't sufficiently care for?

At first, I was wondering why you wouldn't be with your husband, but even he, is living at the mercy of his sister, why won't your stepmother do anyhow, when she knows neither you nor your husband are capable of bringing hail and brimstone upon her?

This is the worst time to be stuck in the same house with an evil witch.

I pray your daughter heals, and I pray God protects her, from whatever harm that witch will want to further inflict on her, but you cannot protect your child, when you live at the mercy of the tormentor

They do it so that they can be classified as wife materials..They hope to testify tomorrow with "When we got married, things were so rough that my wife went back to her father's house while I was squatting with my sister..But today,we have 5 mansions and 10 cars".

Rubbish!

On this platform, you will see people advising that a man who earns 20K can marry and have kids.

I'm very sure her husband was earning very low..so that he couldn't even save.

As a man , I would say you should arrest her but as a child of God , I will tell you to leave the fight for God.Trust me , She will bang on your door for help then you will remind her. Just hold your peace & watch God in action. He will fight your battle , heal your daughter & promote you.

Why did you get married when you knew you on your own aren't financially stable? You have to wait till next week so that you can collect money from your husband to take your child to the hospital? Everything you have to collect from your husband? It's quite sad. I always advice ladies to have savings when venturing into marriage. Too bad

You don't have proof. It's not her even if you think so. Calling the police will bring more trouble and possible eviction. Treat your baby. Go out with her at ALL times! You are in a battle and it will remain so. Your only victory is to become successful. When this is over, get to work.. Work so hard that your creator will be happy HE created you.. Then HE will bless you if pleased.

Forget about revenge, don't listen to people telling you that. The woman will still do more because she is trying to fraustrate you to leave her house. Keep quiet and pray in silence.

Treat your baby, there are ppl here who have dropped their emails to see how they can help your husband. Please reply them, you too find something doing so you can leave that house asap. A safe con should be perfect for your family. If you do contribution, as little as a teaching job can help you maintain the rent for the main time while your husband sort other bills. It will never be permanent.

Right now she is on her lane, you are the one disturbing. And it could have been an accident so leave it to God. Step mother's are unapologetic you should know that by now.

Leave that house as soon as you can, you are married, you shouldn't be there.

But that my comment was not directed to the Op, it was to the guy I quoted that said his wife was packing his excreta when he pooed in a potty, what kind of disgust is that? Come to think of it self, is the man handicap that he can't pack his own excreta? Must a woman suffer to show a man that she loves him? Can't a woman show that she loves a man in riches? I hate when people dignify poverty as if its an achievement, it is a sick mentality.

The only plausible explanation for this insipid foaming in the mouth, is either you've got dyslexia or have cognitive deficiency, cos I can't understand a post as unequivocal as the Op stating that he was lamewhen his wife helped him out, can be misconstrued to earn this level of blind vituperation.

Is it the witch who poured hot water on a baby, or a grown-up you who feels entitled to getting fed in a house you're squatting in.

It simply means he was actually working before.

U pple jst want to comment to sound relevant

Did I insult anyone? Why will you insult me unprovoked?

I am a very wise person, that is why I have my own means of making money, and my husband losing his job will not make me so broke and homeless, I have to return to my father's house and live at the mercy of an evil stepmother with my baby

The only fools, are people who have kids without stable, certain income from BOTH parties. If you had any sense, you would agree with me, but foolishness and an idiotic need to have children you are incapable of caring for, will drag you into impoverishment and endanger your own kids.

You see why it's great for women to be gainfully employed before getting into marriage or while in the marriage?
Seriously, things won't get to this extent if you are.

Whenever I tell women close to me to be gainfully employed, most of them see it as me attacking them, not knowing that I am saving their lives.

It's so risky to depend only on a husband these days.

Babies can get really hurt from having seemingly small areas of burn/scald injuries though. An example is immediate kidney shutdown (I will not use medical terms) with can lead to death.
So while you are pondering what to do, you have to take her to the children emergency of the teaching hospital near you. They will rate the degree of injury and treat accordingly. She will likely need fluid therapy, ointment, maybe antibiotics and or other supportive therapy.
This is very very important dear poster.

After ensuring the baby is okay (or after starting therapy if it’s not), you can come back and negotiate how you have to go back to your husband. How you can help your situation. How to fight your stepmom, etc
The immediate need is to ensure your child is all right .
She doesn't have a house to stay. Pathetic

Hmmm, leave revenge for God, in this circumstances, you are too poor and weak to fight a battle with a devil's advocate

Now the main advice

How come you allowed your husband to stay alone and deceived you to pack to your fathers house because he lost his job ❓

This is the height of your mistake and you will loose your husband to a woman before you know what is happening

He has no job, where did he get the money he sends to you ❓

Don't you know that you are supposed to stay with him and face the challenges together because of the followings

He may get a woman, who is working and ready to accomodative him and before you know it, voom his attention is gone

Your father's house is a no go area because your step mum doesn't want any of you and your dad is a weakly over her because he doesn't have a firm grip on your step mum

If you are staying with your husband, he will be forced to get something doing, even you too, because it seems that you don't have any income

You are supposed to be leaving with your sister of five years so that she will be far from that wicked step mother

What happened to your child is a sign that the worst thing will still happen to her

Just pack your things and take your little sister along to baby seat for you, whatever you and your husband sees you eat and you too start thinking of something

I just want to believe that you married early just to leave your father's house

Your husband can aswell tell a woman that he is single and the woman will allow him to be passing night with her

Dont ever trust a man especially when they are in a tight corner

A man can tell lies to get himself attached to a woman who is capable of herself

Think over it pls because you are still young to experience emotional pains

As for your step mum, just leave her, go back to your home and don't tell hubby you are coming, just pack and go there for your little child is no longer safe

If he deceives you again to go and meet his parents and leave with them, tell him that you will stay with him and suffer together

He will not like it because you are spoiling his plans, yes let it be so, stand on your feet but don't use force rather cry out your life for him

Tiarababy pls this is the msg up here, hearken to him immediately.

I was two months into my marriage when I lost my job and my wife was 1month pregnant. Life change immediately and I decided to move on, face my challenges, i had some money in my account, i was using it to take care of my family and hospital bills. When the money turns zero, I couldn't arranged for the family, I started sourcing for income,it wasn't easy, I had so many interviews, I trekked to submits CV and all that.
Note , if my wife was not with me and I called some of my ex who're working, anything can happened..
But she stood by me , encouraged me to have hopes, she made a call to asked of money and that.
God so kind, three months before her delivery, I got first and second more paying job, then I took care of her..
Anyway, we're Igbo, and I don't want to believe only Igbo women stand with their husband without going to their parental home.. If you're Igbo, I'm disappointed.
If you're other tribes, pls go back to your husband and fight the challenges together.
Leave your father house immediately, your stepmother feels this is my husband house, you should go back.
Concerning retaliation, forget it, don't take laws into your hands, and if you have a clear evidence, crucify her by going to the police station.
Let her know, you're aware of her evil deeds against your own daughter.

God blessed you
