I am awake. I could not sleep my people, bothering news are come to my information.

I am very concerned about this and I will appreciate it, If we respect human life and begin to conduct full on standard pre-operational assessments before going on these missions. The Alpha of a jets in our possession are very much limited in their targeting capabilities and I believe this is a reality our policy makers are already aware of, to defend this intentional weakness is weakness in itself.

Today the Nigerian Economy and our livelihood is grounded because of a virus that has only killed 10 people in Nigeria while we have a military defense structure that has outdone the virus in causing chaos, pain and tragedy. This is not good.

Lastly for anyone or any institution to think the death of 17 people can be explained as operational hazard then it is becoming clear that such an individual or institution does not know what it means to operate and that's why we are here.

At least 17 people were said to have been killed when a fighter jet belonging to the Nigerian Air Force fired a bomb on Sakotoku village in Damboa local government area of Borno state.

Residents told TheCable that those killed included women, and children who were said to be playing under mango trees.

The air force, military sources said, was informed that Boko Haram insurgents were gathering around the village on Thursday afternoon.

The supposed target, according to a source, was an area in Korongilum, a neighbouring village 12 kilometres away where suspected Boko Haram insurgents had gathered earlier.

“We don’t know if they didn’t communicate well with the land troops as the air force jet fired that bomb on the village,” one of the sources said.

“Seventeen people were killed, mostly women and their children playing under mango trees. Many were also injured and have been taken to the 25 army brigade in Damboa, and those with critical injuries were taken to Maiduguri.”

Some of the villagers whose houses were destroyed have found their way to Damboa.

In February, residents of Garkida, Adamawa state and Korongilum, Borno state, had alleged that NAF fighter jets refused to open fire on suspected Boko Haram insurgents when they attacked their communities.

Ibikunle Daramola, NAF spokesperson, had then told TheCable they could not engage the insurgents because the situation in Garkida was chaotic, and that they took the measure so they would not hit civilians.

In 2017, 126 civilians were killed in Rann, Borno state, in an accidental air strike by the military.

When TheCable contacted about the incident in Sakotoku, Daramola said: “It’s a matter of operation” and the defence headquarters would be in a better position to speak on the matter.”

Both Onyema Nwachukwu and John Enenche, defence headquarters spokespersons, were not reachable for comment as they neither responded to calls nor replied text messages.

If this is true, we can’t reveive the dead we can only pray for there families in pain and pray the government do the needful by compensating those who have lost properties and loved ones.
He said Alpha jet has limited targeting capabilities, which is true. But if he as been following news and event coming from the Middle East how come Almighty America modern air capabilities mistakenly bomb hospitals and residential area. People don’t understand the complexity of COIN operations. You might have valid intel that terrorist are in a particular place at a particular time, your intel can change less than minutes. Not only America, Russians are killing innocent people, am not justifying what happened but who told him that even with modern aircraft with best targeting capability technology has to offer you can’t bomb innocent lives.

One of is funny statement was the NAF refused to open fire at BHT some times ago, only people like him who are keyboard commandos would type such thing.
How many wedding ceremonies that where bombed by the Americans and there allies in the Middle East with F16 and F15, this are modern aircrafts any airforce would which they have !

Bros, Bros!!!

They are Commando Parachutists. French GCP special forces.

I wonder how you came to the conclusion that they are Legionnaires.

Can you walk me through the process of your conclusion?

You seem to be one of those people that just like argument for argument sake. You don't make any sense.

Because l did not make any conclusion WHATSOEVER, l gave possible options Parachute regiments or Legionnaire l even said l don't know.

You need to understand the difference between Specail forces, Specialist forces and a specail missions.

And in a mission you will have quite often mixture of combatants from different regiments all pulled together. It's not particularly important or relevant.

What's your point, are we train spotting here❓

From the YouTube video you can see the 126th Regiment, and a quite a few others. As you should know it's an EU supported operation with the French leading.

For you to educate yourself watch and learn.

I bet if they were white you won't be laughing.

The reporter clearly said they were combing the forest.

They are driving heavily armed light skin vehicles, armed with 12.7mm heavy machine guns with 3 soldiers per truck just like the French commandos in the previous video.

They are carrying out search and destroy operations in the forest, but since they are not white people, you find it funny.

That's quite disgusting.

You have become fixated with my posts but with vitriolic and condescending rhetoric. But why

We are in lock LOCKDOWN so l have some time to indulge you.

You are comparing a search and destroy mission in a completely isolated hostile territory, that is taking place over several weeks.

They are sleeping in the harsh open Sahara over several weeks maybe over a month
. They are blowing up potential IED's. Tracking phone calls seeking out Jihadists. An area bigger than the whole of Nigeria.

The journalist was embedded with them for a week + not a day.

They did not drive on any tarmac and avoided pre existing tracks. They were going to very isolated hostile villages. Not a big city like Maiduguri.

Thier formation was attack based not single file and clearly in danger of attack at any time. The visited the place were Us soldiers were ambushed. So they covered at least 500 km or more on that period.

The purpose and intent was not cheap publicity but a concerted specific search and destroy mission.

The entire operation with the COAS with multiple soldiers and journalists in tow, had one purpose publicity. That's a true PR exercise.

There is no comparison.

It seems you are just here to cause discord and unnecessary contention. No genuine intent for constructive criticism.

I do have a lot of time on my hands.

I usually sense a pattern of misinformation in your posts, whether you do that knowingly or out of ignorance it remains to be seen.

There are two armies with similar operations. In the Nigerian video, the war correspondent @Brenda ngusul clearly stated the "Chief of army staff is combing the forest alongside his troops".

Your response was a laughter, a clear form of mockery towards our brave Nigerian soldiers.

In the French Special Forces video, they soldiers are clearly combing the desert, after that they went into Tongo Tongo village.

The exact same thing the Nigerian army did in it's own video, yet you decided to laugh at our troops and glow tributes at the French.

The French special forces did not drive on Tarmac because there are virtually no tarred rounds in the Northern region of Mali. It is mostly desert.

The Nigerian Chief of army staff like the video clearly states visited Nigerian army Super Camps in various sectors, after that he combed the forest with his soldiers.

You are the person telling us he is chilling in Maiduguri. This is why I accused you of misinformation.

The entire thing with the journalist filming French special forces driving on the desert and driving in villages attempts to achieve only one thing, Propaganda and PR.

There is enough evidence to compare the Nigerian army video and French army video.

I find it sad and utterly distasteful that your intent is to disparage the efforts of our brave Nigerian soldiers.

I am all for truth.

Where there are failings in the Nigerian army, we should all discuss it and proffer solutions.

I just can't stand people making disparaging comments about the Nigerian army. Especially when they compare the Nigerian army to other failing armies.

......and claim these other failed armies operating in the region are miles ahead of the Nigerian army and we should learn from them.

The Nigerian army has many failings in many areas. The Nigerian army is also doing a lot.

Our army pushed Boko-Haram from as far south as Kogi state back to Lake Chad area in Northern Borno.

South-Africa spent 28 years fighting terrorists in Angola, terrorism is not easy.

Please don't come here and tell us to emulate Chad, a country that lost 100 soldiers in one day. It is insulting.

What is the difference between a Paratroop and Commando Parachute group. It's like saying what's the difference between Commandos and a Commando Regiment.

In the UK you have Commando brigades with multiple groups within the brigade with different designations as you would have in France and most EU countries.

Again what's your point

You are in your confusing yourself.

Residents told TheCable that those killed included women, and children who were said to be playing under mango trees.

It's like you and I read very different history books. South Africa did not fight any terrorists because it was the only terrorist in that region at that time. What it was doing was willfully ignoring UN resolutions, invading independent countries at will, and making war on all that sought the establishment of independent states in the southern part of Africa, cos this would lead to the end of its genocidal apartheid regime.
Talking of terrorists, South Africa was the main supporter of UNITA, a group of undisciplined rapists who delighted in bloodshed and massacres.
