The worst thing that can happen to you is for you to have late parents at a tender age and your only option is to go and leave with family members.

Yes family members !! And the family members are my late father and mother's sisters. First I must be grateful for all the years they have accommodated, feed me and kicked me around like a football. I have been thrown out their houses on several occasions without any relief package.

But the one I will never forgive and forget is my late mother's sister. This woman is very stingy. Her husband can marry for Africa. The man sabi marry different type of women and you all know what happens with a man with different wives? It means family problems.

(((Fast forward))) I couldn't stay no more, so I had to leave to fend for myself without any kobo. Ever since I left she have never called to ask how I am coping with life.

Currently I just suffered from stroke. I can hardly use half of my body and When my late mothers sister was alerted to my condition. She did not even show care. All I expected of her was Just a little phone call.

I am removing all of them from my family tree.
I have vowed to come out of my condition. I must not die, I must succeed in life.

It was my birthday so I had a few friends around.

So I used the opportunity to introduce my best friend (she was my padi to the bone marrow) to my fiancé (now ex). She was so happy to meet him and I felt good because she had always wanted to meet with him. The party ended well and we all went home.

But after few days, kept getting calls and messages from this friend asking if I really want to settle down with this man. I wondered why she was really concerned and asking. So I asked her what is it that she isn’t telling me.

She said to me “Nothing was wrong”, I said, "are you sure?" She replied yes, she wants the best for me and she was just looking out for me. I didn’t bother asking again.

One very hot afternoon, my man(now ex) were together and he decided to tell and show me everything my supposed "best friend” said/wrote to him.

Firstly I was surprised how she got his number and I was so devastated. She told him I was no good for him because my family had issues and he would want that for him self.

Well I was flabbergasted to say the least now though

The worst kind of hurt is betrayal, because it means that someone will willing to hurt you just to make themselves feel better.

Ever been betrayed? Tell us what happened and let's learn.

Ladies never introduce your friends to your man either ex, present or future.
You just copied someone (Aunty Ada) post from Twitter and posted here. I fear who no fear you people.

Dear Fellow Nigerians

Come 2023 politicians will come begging for our votes. Pls ask them

During Covid-19 lockdown did you do vigilante with me?

Did you give me food or money?

Did Nepa bring 24hrs electricity?

If the answer is yes then vote for them. #LagosUrest

Betrayals

Hmm, maybe one day, I will write a story and title it betrayal.
So many but I've forgotten them however these two stands out.

A cousin of mine was getting married. I thought I was a close friend to his lil bro, I mean, we attended same primary and secondary school, sat together, same gang.

The night of the party, wanted to sleep, so, it's genial for me to sleep on his Bed. I entered his room, two children were already sleeping there with him, however, I could manage a little space, it's just for a night as I intended to leave that place the next day.

My fried said I can't sleep on his bed that it's too crowded, offered a wrapper and spread it close towards the bathroom for me to sleep.

Jeez! This is someone I can break my back for, someone I could borrow to help.
We were both in different institution, he is someone that can come to my school and I will host comfortably, even provide babes for him and go sleep elsewhere.

The betrayal was the audacity in telling me he couldn't shift for me to sleep.

Till now, it still caused a strain in our relationship. Never went there to spend the night again, families are like WTF!
Also, I made sure that anywhere I go to spend the night, be it family or not, I have my own bed.
Having my bed doesn't necessary mean taking bed to everyplace I wanna sleep... It means having enough worth that people would be willing to give me theirs.
I love you brother... We move

Second betrayal
Hmm, there is this girl in my class that's quite pretty. Schooled in the south so speaking Yoruba is quite uncommon.
Found out she has a boyfriend who is one of my friend.

Well, the girl and I do speak sometimes and rounds were going that I was dating her since whenever we meet, we just speak Yoruba uncontrollably, those that didn't understand the language read meanings and told her boyfriend which is my friend.

My friend called me and try to confirm his suspicions, I allayed his fears. The moment I know both were together, there is that camaraderie that came to be, I took both as friends. Nothing more, even stopped to speak Yoruba with her.

I withdrew myself from the said girl. Later, this babe went to tell her boyfriend that I'm trying to meet her eyes and ***** Gosh, loads of what never transpired.
So, came to class hearing the boyfriend want to involve cultist into the matter.

Hmmm, innocent me. The guy was like whenever I see him, I'm always pricked by conscience that I rarely speak to him too.

I thought he trusted me... Anyway, we move.

Remembered when I had face-off with some bad boys, they threatened to beat me black and blue.
The news went viral and almost all my friends start running from me.
Anytime they're with me, there's that urgency.
Hmmm

When I'm a friend with someone, I maintain my loyalty to the letter, I don't switch sides even if it's insidious for me. I just can't stand myself betraying someone.

Sincerely, I've seen wonderful inputs so far and I must learn from them. I'm the kind of person that can go all out to help persons(especially sincere strangers cos I've been helped too) even beyond my convenience and that has cost me much. I've decided not to help people again no matter what unless God touches my heart to help. I had a recent (this past Saturday) experience which I'd love to share.

I had some of my dad's money in my account and he requested that I go withdraw a part of it so we could use from it during this period. I agreed to go. But before I went, I helped my mum take some things to the farm and on my way back (heading to the bank), the devourer came.
A black car stopped in front of me and the man inside called my attention. The way I looked at him(my mind went to the usual scammers) he acted (I know now that he pretended) scared. He told me that I shouldn't be afraid that he was a doctor (showing me an ash stethoscope and an I.D card) but that he needed help.
So, I laid down my 'scam shield' thinking that he needed directions or something. But then he told me that he needed to buy fuel as his car was about to go off but he forgot his atm at the office. He said he needed some money but he'd do a transfer in return. I usually don't agree to help people with cash and then they'd do a transfer because I don't know if the money they're about sending is 'clean' but I resolved to help him as he said he was a doctor (my own way of appreciating their efforts even in this period). I wasn't with cash as I was yet to withdraw and we were close to some banks along that road so I told him no problem but I'd have to withdraw. He thanked me and I entered his vehicle. I asked him how much he needed and he replied 10K (I can't remember but I think he said he needed to get other things too). I had no idea of any close-by fuel station and so I asked him where he wanted to buy fuel from and he said he'd turn and go somewhere(he called the name of a place I can't remember). We headed for Access bank. On our way, he began to thank me and even promised to show appreciation(he said he'd send extra 3K). While in the vehicle, I was still analyzing the matter in my head (I guess my 'scam detector' came alive) but against all odds, I decided (I saw small risk though) to help him.
We got to the bank and I felt like calling my dad secretly to explain the situation to him before going on with the decision but I had no airtime. As I was about stepping out he told me to just make it 20K(that he'd send extra 5K and that it was my luck). Sincerely, I wondered how he'd just show appreciation with 5K just like that for my help and I left. I was glad though but it wasn't my source of motivation to help him.

I withdrew, entered into the self-acclaimed doctor's car, gave him the money (my first mistake due to trust) and waited for the transfer. He began to drive and while going he asked for my account details which I gave him. He attempted the transfer and he called my attention that the number wasn't correct. We discovered he mixed up the numbers or something like that and he tried again and it was correct. He showed me my details on his Polaris Bank's mobile app for confirmation which I confirmed. (The 25K was part of it too). He removed the phone from before me and that was it(I didn't see if the transfer was successful or not). He told me he had sent it, requested my phone number and was busy thanking me. Saying plenty plenty things.
I looked at my phone, no alert yet and I told him but he said he had sent it that it would come. I immediately checked my mobile app and it wasn't there too and I also told him again and he began to complain that why would I think that he'd cheat me as he was a doctor and all the other talks. He said that while I'm delaying him that the car may go off or something. So, I stepped down from his car (another mistake) believing him. And you know the rest.

He claimed to be Dr. Iyke; a doctor of UPTH when I asked(which I now know is false)

I just went straight to meet my mum and from there went home. Honestly, I looked like and was tagged a fool for helping this man but no wahala, I've learnt. I pray he repents too. I've resolved not to help anybody again Lai Lai especially when it comes to money.
My parents were disappointed. They were like, " you just entered a stranger's vehicle, what if you were kidnapped?"

It's still not real to me as I still check my phone from time to time hoping for a miracle from Dr Iyke.
.

You are very greedy.. you want 5k free

While I was working for a company. I got diagnosed of a kidney infection and was admitted in the hospital for two weeks. I was staying with my father’s elder sister at the time because my parents were here in Abuja

Two weeks of constant drugs, drips and injections on my *you know* and guess what, my aunt and her family never came to visit for one day. My friends(even tho I didn’t have a lot of them) were to busy to come see me. No company representative to pay me a visit.

Everyday I would walk to the little store close to the hospital to buy biscuits and yoghurt because no one would bring them to me.

Betrayal hurts so bad because it never comes from strangers but those of your household.

This is why I recommend people live like they are alone on this planet. Have zero expectations. Any human can become anything at anytime. When u expect so much from people, betrayal is inevitable. Live ur life without expectations.
Thank God for your life you are living witness. This will prepare you on how deal with all kind of people around because human being will always tend to turn you down at the verge of death when you need them the most.

I could remember going through something and people said a lot of bad things about me, not knowing I was very highly depressed. I almost committed suicide then.
Also I worked with one very useless pastor, who pretends alot. He will use and use you but will never give you a dime. Very manipulative selfish man. It will never be well with you wherever you are Mr fake pastor. You will continually beg to feed in this land of the living. This man will sell you for just 10000 naira. Because of this useless man, i honestly have a natural hatred for pastors. Fool.

Also be weary of close friends in the work place. I have learnt a lot from keep close friends in the work place, especially females. They are not worth it. I was best friends with one useless hoe in my former work place. I didn't know the idiot was sleeping wiith the MD. Anything I tell her, she goes and tells him. I have never seen someone that placed little value on herself like this woman (she's not even a girl again ooh). Agbalagba somebody

List of people never to be trusted in Nigeria are as follows:

1) Pastors and Imam...very greedy set of people how many of them can u see during this Corona crisis, when they are supposed to be helping the needy, the poor and destitutes but u will never them give, but the ones that gave were busy giving to already rich Nigerian govt just to please them.

2) Broke ladies...they can date anything that has penis for money.

3) Mechanic...most mechanics in Nigeria are half baked. Can destroy ur car and make u sell it at a give away price for their inexperience.

4) APC...believe them at ur peril.

5) Presidents, Governors and senators...fear everyman, woman occupying these seats. They are full of arrogance and dishonest.

6) Nigerian Police...the worst on this list.

7) Site Engineers....these very people will always scam u whether u open ur eyes or not. In fact,to avoid them, make use of an experienced Meson and u are good to go.

cool Plumbers...

9) Betnaija guys...these set of people can never tell the truth even at gun point. They are ready to sell every valuable thing they see to gamble including that of their neighbours. And they are not honest with women. And finally.

10) Fuel stations...they can be very mischievous with metres.

But really why are Nigerians/Nairalanders always unserious? Someone asks a legit question, instead of people contributing significantly they start joking about it. Sometimes, I honestly prefer browsing Reddit because there, people will share their heartfelt experiences and you will learn a lot. Personally, I cannot remember when last I opened a meaningful thread on nairaland and learnt something without some f00ls derailing it and ultimately sabotaging the thread.

Back to your question, last night, someone special to me sold me out. Like I don't even have a problem with that but at least the person should have told me what they did instead of leaving me to my faith and hanging. It was a souring feeling I tell you.

So this is your heartfelt story? Like seriously?

You agree that it is not in the teachings of Jesus, our Lord and Savior, that we should avenge ourselves, especially in this kind of situation.

I trust God to help you heal all the wounds that Temitope caused in your life.

God bless you, beloved and dear friend.

When my dad retired from his regional managerial position in an oil company in 2007, things were super rosy for a bit and everyone (family & friends) were swarming around like bees to honey.

Fast forward 3 years later when Dad was duped in tens of millions, things started to wane and then we saw the harsh reality of life roared it's ugly head. Friends turned foes, family turned it's back.

My dad went for a major hip replacement surgery and was stranded in the hospital. Several calls to ex colleagues of his, friends etc seemed mission impossible and it was really surprising seeing these same people that flocked around and requested numerous favors from my dad act like they couldn't even recognize his name. My mum cried, my dad was bitter and there was this huge cloud of disappointment, disbelief and betrayal hanging over my family.

We felt Betrayed but better enough to use that as the fuel/energy for our comeback

Wow...don't be surprised... there's nothing new under the sun afterall Judas betrayed our Lord Jesus Christ .

it was my own Brother who betrayed me, immediate elder brother at that.

I have nursed this ambition of traveling abroad for hustle, so last year, I saved 700k and contacted my immediate elder bro, I told him I would auction my bet9ja shop and he objected and asked me to give him 500k from the money to support his luggage business, that after some months he would give me 1m, that's additional 500k.

I told mom and other siblings and they all agreed, dude has been a talk and do since day one.

I gave him the money February 8 2019 and went to Lagos.

I was betrayed at work by my superior and it cost me my job, there's a document called P.T.W. " Permit to work document ". It's a written legal document that grant permission and authorization to commence a task. Usually high risk task, my immediate boss and i are both signatories to that document, i.e. I have to sign and my immediate boss as well. I did my part. Inspect work areas, got authorized by the PM and only needed my direct boss to sign to commence operation. I called him on radio as I was on the site. I.e an high rise tower of 34 floors and we were on the 34th level, My boss gave me a verbal permission to tell the guys to commence work even without him signing the permit. I was adamant and reluctant saying it's was against ethical practice, but he insisted that there isn't any problem. So I gave the go ahead only to be called that the companies "HSE Manger" is on site and on her way to supervise our activity, I was worried but not bothered as I was only following instructions from senior supervisor beside he is to take the blame. How wrong was I, to my uttermost surprise my boss denied me and claim he wasn't even aware of the designated task. I was shocked, I couldn't even say a word other workers came to my aid and said he was lying but all fell on deaf ears. This is a man I trusted so much as I have never in my life thought that this man can do such, my appointment was terminated for incompetency. It's painful but I have forgiven him. My only mistake was TRUST.
Damn. That bastard will never go unpunished.

The same thing happened to me...800k is in the limbo since 2017. Not minding the fact that my dearest wife was in the mortuary, I needed money for the burial. We were running a successful business until this ungrateful friend of mine diverted 1.3m to buy keke for hire purchase without my permission, of course the 2 keke packed up, our business closed down and the idiot ran away to his village... I've vowed never to do business with anyone again .

During my 300 level I Gave my ATM card to my best friend in sec. school who have been my roommate since my 2nd year..We did everything 2geda:studying,dodging classes, toasting babes, playing video games, playing soccer, clubbing and even wear the same clothes. Some peeps even thought we were brothers.I was paying the rent and all the expenses cos i knew his family was struggling to pay his sch.fees.I Was in bankFin 300 while he was in ECONS 200.on that fateful day,he asked me for #200 to photocopy some handouts and since i had only my t~fare,i gave him my ATM card and then told him to withdraw 15k for refilling our gas cylinder and subscribing for our gotv and buy essentials with the rest. This was like the millionth time i was giving him the card.this guy emptied my account worth #96,680 and left #680 probably because he cant empty it totally. i remember calling him after the alert came and he refused to pick.Even remembering this now is making me tear up cos the aftermath was the end of our friendship...

Your thoughts though.
Remember, I never requested it as a criterion for help.
You're entitled to your opinion though so it's well.

Me and my childhood frnds grow together and people always refer to us as brother. I don't hide secret from him thinking he was my best frnd but never knew he was my worst enemy. I notice that things started going down for me in my life. My life became so hard and frustrating that all my good luck ran out. Also notice that I was having nightmare frequently. After much prayer with tears and fasting to God. I later knew this guy belong to a marine kingdom and has sold me out to his kingdom that I will be useless. Later when I saw him he was not able to look at me to my face he even form that he did not see me. I have to call him and u need to see the shame in this guy and he was so uncomfortable talking to me. Later he appear to me in my dream telling me even though he belongs to the marine world we can still become frnds. I just sharply block this dude from my life sharp sharp

Reading the stories on the trend, I learnt the following:
The people who can hurt us the most are those we call friends because they have every detailed information about us.
In a relationship, whatever that's going on is between you and your partner. There should be no third parties involved. Do not get your friends too close to your partner.
Curtail information you feed to friends and some family members too because people are not what we think they are.
Learn to give your trust to those who have earned it.

2012 was a learning seasons for me. I housed a friend in UAE not knowing he does drugs until the day he was caught. He dribbled the police to call and send signal to my very good friend and next door neighbor to ask him to dispose of the stuffs in the house & ask me and everyone there to leave as well. But reason best known to him, he came and took some bags away, informed the people in the other room of the situation and left me and my boyfriend as we were watching a movie

For all we know, he went down to buy some groceries. Angry that he had wasted time and that he sent someone to carry his bag without telling me. Angry to myself too for even letting him carry the bag out. Weird as it was but I kept quiet.

After some time this friend and next door neighbor called me to his room where he sat with his wife both scooping beans into their mouths, told me that I should stay calm as my friend has been arrested & will be coming with police for questioning but I shouldn’t fret but answer them, not seeing anything wrong in answering police questions, I went back to my crib.

Some minutes later, we got a bang and it was hefty CID personnels with my friend in chains. He almost ran back on seeing us (he did not expect to see us after his warnings) but they pushed him in asked if we knew him & I said yes. Asked for his bag and I showed them his portion of the wardrobe but as they flipped his cloths what they found gave me shivers. My friend called them to whisper what I later knew he asked them to take him & leave every other person

Truth is, I have seen many drug movies. Men brought packages out and the stupid me was asking them what it was. They said calmly that it’s ashish. All the calmness left when they opened his bag under the bed and found the main thing, different kinds and packages. We were bundled, for the first time in my life I was handcuffed but also chained with the drug cocaine lord in my house.

Shooooo shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked

But does it mean that people cannot control their attractions or what? That's preposterous. I mean... I can never be attracted to somebody I know is dating a friend or to my guys friend. That's greed of the highest order.

It happened to me. Like my blood line today is married to a guy that chyked me for years.
This my blood line knows that this guy tried to date me. As in he kept coming to our house look for me for months. My mum and all my siblings knew him very well. It got to a point he threatened to harm me if he sees me with any other guy but luckily, we relocated to another place. Only for my blood sister to bring this same guy as a suitor. shocked dang!
I just keep wondering, so she had been attracted to him all this while? Someone I dislike to the core? Hm! Fear human beings.

Till today, if I go visiting this guy will be telling me him and I have an unfinished business and some annoying silly talks. So most times when I visit, I'll hide away until I go back. Mehn... It sucks!
this is not betrayal, you said u dislike him to the core. so where is the betrayal

And you still visit

Well, when it eventually happens tomorrow that he spikes your drink and drills you or he sets you up for rape, don't sha come and disturb us on Nairaland.

if I were you, I'll keep away completely from him and if I have to meet the sister, we'll meet somewhere safe away from their house if it's necessary. and if they are complaining about that, I'll give my reasons and tell them what the husband is saying.
