Lately, I have been seeing a lot of new monikers on the forum. My candid advice:

1. Learn to enter a stock at the right time and Learn to take profits from the market when the opportunity presents itself. Don’t be carried away by any unhealthy bull that may not last, if not, you will watch and see your stock come down again to the original price you bought it, if not lower. People will tell you to buy, but NOBODY will tell you when to exit. Some people bought WAPCO at N9, the price moved to N12.50 and they are still waiting probably to sell at N16, in this market that is full of uncertainties, especially due to COVID and fall in oil price (anyways, I wish them good luck). Yours truly entered UBA on 3 April 2020 at average purchase price of 4.95 and exit at 6.20 on 11 April 2020. For me, that’s a good bargain considering the state of the market.

2. Another one is for you to always try to study the event that moves the market. I bought Zenith about a month ago at 19.10 but when I see the turn of events (majorly COVID, Fuel price), I quickly sold at 18.50 (moderate Hair cut). Alas, the same zenith went as low as N10+ in a twinkle of an eye. I then bought at N11+ and sold at N13.20, that means I recovered the money I lost earlier and go with little gain.

3. Lastly, I am not a perfect person and I believe nobody is, you gain and loose in the market, but the most important is for your gains to outweigh your lost. we have a lot of resource persons on the forum that you may not even see on seminars that are paid for. Try and learn a lot from them, people like:
RabbiDoracle, Current Price (Currently on market quarantine), onegentleguy, DeRuggedProf, emmanuelewumi
Agbalowomeri, Coolcash1, OBAGADAFFI, BAMOFIN1, Valueinvestor, Jejebabaa, Mpeace, yom2, maishai, locodemy, Mcy56 (landlady of the forum), even @meships is good (the only problem he has is that he wants to use the forum for selfish gain - forgive me If I am wrong) and so many others that time will not permit me. Meanwhile, do not discountenance contributions from Chibuking and peterichy because they will also guide and caution you when necessary.

Wishing everyone good luck

Less I forget, @onegentlyguy, when are you going to release the Q4 result of caverton grin
Caverton to me is a good buy because the result will be good, yours truly have been trying to buy it at 2.30 but the volume and offer has not been there for me.

Oga, the message is what I am debating.

I just checked the messenger and can conclude that he is not an authority in finance. That is someone with a disjointed career financial services. No one will pay him a dime for investment advice.

If you call that one an authority in finance, what will you call the MIT alum that is a regular on this thread? I know many other guys here that Kalu does not compare to professionally and otherwise. So, how did he become an authority?

So we have MIT finance alumnus/alumna here. Wow, that's good to hear. Who is that pls though Sir Loco comes to mind.

Ehuatamuigunisi:
Hello investors,

I am still learning in stock investment.
I have in my mind medium and long term investment..

I bought Zenith and MTN already and still have money to buy more coys tomorrow.
My target is GTB, Dangcem and more Zenith.

With the upward trend now, is safe to buy at the current price or wait for downward movement.?

Gurus please respond
Firsly, I'm not a guru just want to contribute from my non-guru knowledge cheesy. Since you're still in your learning phase and with the current market volatility, I'll only be buying in tranches. Buy a certain percentage of the units of DangCem and GTB you intend to hold, there is no need to buy more Zenith now(please note, this really depends on the number of units you currently own). But remember, whatever you decide to do, make sure you have cash in your trading account and look out for opportunities. Don't buy all at once!

Brilliant and well put together, sir! I also feel we should let newcomers understand that stock investment is different from stock trading, and everyone does not necessarily have to be a trader/short-termer. Emmanuelewumi is a long term investor and he has achieved a lot doing so.

Sir Loco and Oga Peter are traders and they do this with so much excellence. Messrs RabbiDoracle, OGG, Agba etc practice the combination of short/mid/long term.

The bottom line is, there are various routes to make money in the stock market, one just needs to choose what works for them and have a plan!
