Goodday everyone, please what positive impact does having an Msc in public health have on a BSN graduate nurse who wants to live and work in Canada as a registered nurse.I learnt that that having an MSC gives you a better chance to entering Canada, please how true is this. I also want to ask if I can start UK work process as an intern nurse because I'm doing my internship,I want to know if I can start the registration now and also write the CBT exam.thank you as I await your response. 3 Likes |

Amy360:it's not gonna earn you a Canadian RN, even with your Master's degree. I'd suggest you try the Express Entry route. So when you get there as a permanent resident, you would do some bridge courses before sitting for NCLEX-RN, which passing it would confer on you a Canadian RN. And for the UK, you're good to go, they don't ask for work experience, though it is usually an advantage. FOR CANADA, u NEEEEEEED ATLEAST ONE YEAR WORK EXPERIENCE. I hope I answered your question. Happy Quarantine 1 Like |

BlueBeard: @BlueBeard you are missing something..... I don't think she already has an RN license as an intern nurse There is new process now in Nigeria.,,,.. Since she is not through with her internship, what they have issued her now is "licensed intern " until after she completes her one year internship before they will give her the main RN license.... I don't think she will be able to use that "license intern" document to process her nmc uk ...I stand to be corrected on this. |

BEEJAY452: Check up Western Community College, Canada. But you have to have your BscN first, its a two years program. After which, u get your Canadian RN + post graduate diploma in nursing..check below to see the email conversation i had with the school's advisor

Good evening my amiable colleagues. Please I am a JJC, I know nothing concerning this but I wish to migrate to Canada. Can someone give me a guideline on how I can go about it so I can start early to prepare. I'm RN, RNA with 6 years experience. Rounding up BSc this year by God's grace. Thanks in anticipation. |

Yes, thank you. It looks like a competency assessment program. I'll prefer other programs in Nursing that does not require RN registration in Canada first if available. BlueBeard: |

Theyoungmatron: Yeah if you sign in with any of these agents , it becomes much more easier. They will send documents to accompany your applications to the embassy . For visa, paying for the exam fee, hotel reservation and flight....the agency handles all the paper works including getting the ATT from the BON. I advise you review the previous comments. Many of these had been discussed vividly earlier . Best of luck. |

BlueBeard:1....I understand your clarification. 3... being a nurse is not necessarily an edge on EE. What matters is your CRS score. If you read business administration and hold an MBA at 28 or less than 30 with 3 years work experience, you stand a better chance than a BSN graduate who has 10years experience and is 35 years old (with both candidates getting 8777 in ielts LRSW).Check what your CRS score is to guide yourself on this. 4....its sad to see this recent development. I used IQAS and had a favourable report of 2 degrees in 2018. However, just a BSN assessed as 1 degree would not do much for your score on EE except you understand french and are young. Again, let the CRS tool guide you. https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp |
Re: Nigerian Nurses And Midwives With The Dream Of Working Abroad Let's Meet Here. by vickyehi: 10:09am On Apr 18, 2020 |
Amy360:Check what your CRS score is at the link below, the higher your score, the better your chances. You should aim to score 470s above and that is dependent on your age at this point. After 30yrs, you loose 5 points on each birthday and loose all points for age at 35. You can also check the Express entry thread on nairaland for more info. https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp 1 Like |
Re: Nigerian Nurses And Midwives With The Dream Of Working Abroad Let's Meet Here. by vickyehi: 10:12am On Apr 18, 2020 |
BEEJAY452:Yes there are several. You can do a masters in Nursing that is open to international students. Check university of manitoba, uni of Alberta, uni of regina etc. So far, as long ad it isnt the Nurse practitioner option, you can get admitted. |
Re: Nigerian Nurses And Midwives With The Dream Of Working Abroad Let's Meet Here. by vickyehi: 10:20am On Apr 18, 2020 |
BlueBeard:Again I stand to correct an impression. This 2 year program doesn't automatically confer Canadian RN status on you when you graduate. It helps you be in a better position to be successful in the general process that everyother person will undergo (with or without this programs). Just like omni college, they integrate you to the "canadian way of nursing" , which makes the assessment exams somewhat easier for you. This in simple terms means that if you attend University of Alberta or Regina and do a 2 year after degree nursing program, at the end of the program you can sit for the nclex without any paper work from NNAS. Because it is a 4 year basic degree compressed into 2 years, and you get a BN from Canada on graduating. On the flip side, completing WCC alone would not make you eligible to take NCLEX-RN and practice. You need to do NNAS and the college of nursing processes as an internationally trained nurse. The advantage of WCC is the perceptorship program and the integration. 1 Like 1 Share |

vickyehi: I never said after the 2 year program, that it would automatically confer Canadian RN status on you when you graduate. The school only helps with the study gaps and after that, you are eligible to write NCLEX( even those that use the university route will definitely have to write the NCLEX, cos NCLEX is the koko for becoming an RN in Canada). If u truly understood d question, BEEJAY asked, he/she said "post graduate program" , I dont think he/she wanted an undergraduate degree like you stated earlier. Please do enough clarification, before coming here to be standing |
