Hi. I've been following this thread from the beginning
1. Any news about the travel ban to USA?
2. Please going by the UK route, what would it take to bring in one's spouse & children?
Sadly Travel Ban is still intact

Goodday everyone, please what positive impact does having an Msc in public health have on a BSN graduate nurse who wants to live and work in Canada as a registered nurse.I learnt that that having an MSC gives you a better chance to entering Canada, please how true is this.
I also want to ask if I can start UK work process
as an intern nurse because I'm doing my internship,I want to know if I can start the registration now and also write the CBT exam.thank you as I await your response.

it's not gonna earn you a Canadian RN, even with your Master's degree. I'd suggest you try the Express Entry route. So when you get there as a permanent resident, you would do some bridge courses before sitting for NCLEX-RN, which passing it would confer on you a Canadian RN. And for the UK, you're good to go, they don't ask for work experience, though it is usually an advantage. FOR CANADA, u NEEEEEEED ATLEAST ONE YEAR WORK EXPERIENCE.
I hope I answered your question.

@BlueBeard you are missing something..... I don't think she already has an RN license as an intern nurse There is new process now in Nigeria.,,,.. Since she is not through with her internship, what they have issued her now is "licensed intern " until after she completes her one year internship before they will give her the main RN license.... I don't think she will be able to use that "license intern" document to process her nmc uk ...I stand to be corrected on this.

She can't use her intern license for verification at NMCN,
She will have to wait to get the original license

@vickyehi and other well-informed in the house,

pls is there any post graduate Nursing program that one can do in Canada that doesn't require one to register as RN in any Canadian province before one can run such program(s)?

pls help, I couldn't get any with Google search.

vickyehi:

Correcting some miscommunication
1.......Omni college is only to integrate you to the nursing environment in Canada. It is not the school where you fo the "bridging" program. The program offered by omni is NOT a substitute for the bridging the college of nursing may request for. However, the program at Omni may help prepare you for the assessment test and generally improve your chances because you would have started getting used to the basic gadgets. Note that people have completed their credential process without Omni, so it is not a part of the process. Also I know people who have completed Omni's program and are currently in the actual bridging programs for their licensure.

2......BScn graduates are not necessarily "good to go". You still have to do the OSCE and your performance at the OSCe is what determines how many courses would be required to bridge the educational gap. You only skip the OSCE assessment if your report from NNAS says "comparable to canadian education". I am yet to see a Nigerian graduate with such an assessment report from NNAS.

3.....For express entry, "the mind of them dey rush us" DOES NOT APPLY. express entry is not focused on you practicing as a nurse but it is STRICTLY AN IMMIGRATION PROCESS. Having a BSN as opposed to a Diploma is ENTIRELY IRRELEVANT to the process. A RN/RM Diploma holder may stand a better chance than a straight BScN. Except the BN holder can find a way to assess each component of their degrees separately (some people in the thread have been successful).
4........"remember Rn can't work as Rn there, u work as lpn there(until u upgrade yaa academics)"
The above statement is NOT TRUE. Although Canada's RN are Bachelor degree holders, there have also been cases of diploma nurses who scaled through the RN licensure process.

In conclusion, the Canadian licensure process is not a "one size fits all" kind of process. Until you start the process, you can not tell how long it would take you or whether or not your degree would scale through. It does help to have a BSN but having a BSN doesnt also mean that you would have it easy and fast. If you really want to practice in Canada, all you can do is to start the process and give your assessment OSCE your best shot (ie if NNAS gives you a report stating "noncomparable or somewhat comparable"wink.

Canadian licensure is in 2 steps.
1.....getting to canada as a landed immigrant (study or permanent resident)
2......the licensure process.
Ensure you have a plan to be successful at both before you commit to it. Else just go to the States or uk or some other place.

Good evening my amiable colleagues.
Please I am a JJC, I know nothing concerning this but I wish to migrate to Canada. Can someone give me a guideline on how I can go about it so I can start early to prepare.
I'm RN, RNA with 6 years experience. Rounding up BSc this year by God's grace.

Thanks in anticipation.

I'll prefer other programs in Nursing that does not require RN registration in Canada first if available.

Yeah if you sign in with any of these agents , it becomes much more easier.
They will send documents to accompany your applications to the embassy .

For visa, paying for the exam fee, hotel reservation and flight....the agency handles all the paper works including getting the ATT from the BON.

I advise you review the previous comments. Many of these had been discussed vividly earlier .

Best of luck.

1. Omni college only helps you in getting your Canadian RN, i never said anything about it bn a bridging program.(at least I never meant it in that context)I belong to their WhatsApp group, so I'm telling you this without atom of doubt

2. U may be right.

3. Trust me, Na Dem dey rush us o grin reason bn that, they invite nurses&health practitioners to apply for EE(as far as u have the required CRS)faster than any other profession. And the one u said about RN&RM holder standing a better chance than BNsc, bros, that's not true ooo.lolz. E shock u shey I'd send a screenshot so u can see for yourself

4. You're also wrong too. The student advisor in Omni college, we chat on WhatsApp and I can give u his contact so u can ask him to confirm this... I downloaded the pdf handbook From national nursing assessment services, canada. Please google this up. In fact pm me lemme send your number to him so u can contact him. Also I can send u d pdf so u can read it up for yourself...
1....I understand your clarification.
3... being a nurse is not necessarily an edge on EE. What matters is your CRS score. If you read business administration and hold an MBA at 28 or less than 30 with 3 years work experience, you stand a better chance than a BSN graduate who has 10years experience and is 35 years old (with both candidates getting 8777 in ielts LRSW).Check what your CRS score is to guide yourself on this.
4....its sad to see this recent development. I used IQAS and had a favourable report of 2 degrees in 2018. However, just a BSN assessed as 1 degree would not do much for your score on EE except you understand french and are young. Again, let the CRS tool guide you.

Check what your CRS score is at the link below, the higher your score, the better your chances. You should aim to score 470s above and that is dependent on your age at this point. After 30yrs, you loose 5 points on each birthday and loose all points for age at 35. You can also check the Express entry thread on nairaland for more info.

Yes there are several. You can do a masters in Nursing that is open to international students. Check university of manitoba, uni of Alberta, uni of regina etc. So far, as long ad it isnt the Nurse practitioner option, you can get admitted.

Again I stand to correct an impression.
This 2 year program doesn't automatically confer Canadian RN status on you when you graduate. It helps you be in a better position to be successful in the general process that everyother person will undergo (with or without this programs). Just like omni college, they integrate you to the "canadian way of nursing" , which makes the assessment exams somewhat easier for you.

This in simple terms means that if you attend University of Alberta or Regina and do a 2 year after degree nursing program, at the end of the program you can sit for the nclex without any paper work from NNAS. Because it is a 4 year basic degree compressed into 2 years, and you get a BN from Canada on graduating.

On the flip side, completing WCC alone would not make you eligible to take NCLEX-RN and practice. You need to do NNAS and the college of nursing processes as an internationally trained nurse. The advantage of WCC is the perceptorship program and the integration.

I never said after the 2 year program, that it would automatically confer Canadian RN status
on you when you graduate. The school only helps with the study gaps and after that, you are eligible to write NCLEX( even those that use the university route will definitely have to write the NCLEX, cos NCLEX is the koko for becoming an RN in Canada). If u truly understood d question, BEEJAY asked, he/she said "post graduate program" , I dont think he/she wanted an undergraduate degree like you stated earlier. Please do enough clarification, before coming here to be standing cry
