I would want to ask if UK would be favourable after this POst corona and the likes.

The last time a pandemic happened was 1918 which is over a hundred years ago...…………...meaning at this point , nobody can predict what will happen tomorrow in the economy in UK . It is unprecedent time and it would just be one day at a time post Covid

Not only for PSW, working more than 20 hours even affects your studies. Most students come out with 2:2 or merit or pass because they’re working more hours to pay tuition and bills. I regret doing business during my uni days because to say I read more, I would have come out with better grades. Earning money is good but certificate first
The fact still remain having merit for post graduate studies isn’t bad at all! If it was to be undergraduate studies you need aim far above

I read about 5000 pounds grant to students that study medical allied courses
Does this apply to international students

Nice one. But ensure you concentrate on your studies. Ensure you are not working more than 20 hrs per week. The consequences could be devastating later when applying for PSW or post brexit immigration.

Good luck.

i am currently studying psychology in Teesside University. It a one year program and psychology is among the shortage skills. I will urge you to go for Psychology because it is a course that’s diverse and doesn’t limit you to any field.

OK. I thought as much as those who do Msc Psychology are likely from other disciplines. I specialized right from my bachelors (counseling psychology) though I can go straight to do Doctorate in counseling psychology without a masters (many universities just require a 2.1 to be admitted) but needed the skills play therapy offers since I intend to further studies in Child and Adolescent Psychology.

I would have prefered a field like health or nursing, seems opportunities abound
But is psychology part of the NHS or healthcare scheme

Yes! Mental health.

Check MSc mental health nursing.

You can even train as a consultant psychologist working with NHS hospitals

Like Tobexin affirmed earlier, psychology is among the shortage skills. Personally, my aim is not the NHS but accreditation by the British Association of Play Therapist (BAPT) and opportunity for private practice/work with other organizations that offers services to children with neurodevelopmental issues such as ADHD, Autism etc while studying for my Doctorate.

I am currently in the UK and I am studying a Computer Science related course as well. What your friends said is the absolute truth! However I do not think the course is difficult, it is just the mode of study that is utterly different from what we are used to in Africa.

1. Graduate studies in the UK entail lots of INDEPENDENT SELF-STUDY, irrespective of the field (engineering, business, health, etc). Start developing the habit of reading lots of other textbooks after lectures, going out of your way to get more information on a certain topic, etc.
2. You absolutely cannot use part-time jobs (20 hours/week) to pay your tuition fees. It has been repeated several times on this platform.
3.Do not take this information as a means of discouragement. INSTEAD, let it help you to know what awaits you once you land here and start preparing yourself mentally.
4.AI is in great demand, do not let anyone tell you otherwise. And even if you do not necessarily get a job in AI, you will at least get one in software development.
5. From your typing, it sounds like you have already given up without even trying. Your mates told you to study programming now till September, that's roughly 5 months' time.

Me? Give up? Hahaha...

Thank you Franklyn4, my first choice is Business Analytics, second is Data Science and they are both one year courses. I have decided to learn python and hopefully be grounded to a good extent by September.

Come let's put hands together, use same textbook, share codes and wriggle it out together.

Will we be able to spend 7,038,036,578 minutes on it before September?

Though you didn't call me out, I can boldly say that you're in order based on past counsel (which I ignored), my recent personal research and my admission interview experience.

Social workers are in low numbers in the UK compared to the workload of a welfare state, hence the reason the profession - Social worker is able to make it to the occupation shortage list.

BTW, what other options are you considering?

This is what i've done recently. I got an offer for a course but later had interest in a differrent program. I chatted with the school that i need to review my program options and i was directed on how to make my request.
So, in your case, there is nothing wrong in contacting the school. Tell them you're self funded and expected to get a tuition discount included in your offer letter. If not granted consider your options.

Okay then, I will do just that. Thanks much.
