Hope all the boys in the video are safe

It's is not fair on my part to comment on an event based on a short video clip . I will not be able to do justice unless I get to see the video of the entire event. Possibly fail even then.

And also it is easy to pass judgements on others in dire life threatening situations while I may be no better when caught in the same situation.

So hopefully you understand my corundum.

In a generalized context let me point out something's.

When a convoy comes under a ambush , the drivers are taught to disperse even under fire and only then they are supposed to dismount and take cover. ( In the video the vehicles are all bunched up )

The soldiers are similarly taught not to bunch up together . Only buddy teams in 2/3 nos are meant to be at one location. ( In the video everybody seems to be converging at one point and all bunched up )

This is to divide the enemies firepower and allow the defending teams widely dispersed better opportunities to pinpoint enemy fire and take it down.

Infact some teams are assigned ( rather the contact teams themselves ) to purposefully draw enemy fire on themselves so that other teams can pinpoint the enemy location and take it down.

In a given situation why that is not being done is something those in charge must take note of , since they are the ones who are in direct charge and in the know.

I myself was caught in an ambush which I mentioned long time back .

Personally I believe NA needs to revamp it's CT training and lay more emphasis on drills relating to contact drills , immediate ambush drills, counter ambush drills
this is similar to what this guy said..
Already judging from a 30 sec clip is ignorance at it's best..
It might not even be an ambush for crying out loud

Time will tell about the new contract. I think it is real though, cos the claim was made by a reputable Twitter source. I am however unable to find further proof for it online.
Why I said perhaps Algeria intends to face off against Egypt is that the two are the most heavily armed nations on the continent. The amount of tanks, arty and air support these two countries have could make an alien have a heart attack and sh1t itself!

I honestly don't see NATO attacking Algeria. They have learned their lesson in Libya and the Algerian military is not the hopelessly incompetent buffoons that was Qaddafi's army. But again, time will tell.

When Gaddafi was around he probably started the arms race in that region. Egypt and Algeria had the resources to try and keep up.

Every nation was very weary of Gaddafi's Libya. Now he has gone the competition is between Egypt and Algeria.

Have not confirmed but it seems they both support different factions in the never ending Libyan crisis. With Egypt fighting a proxy war with General Haftar.

Agreed.

They are not acting like trained soldiers what you see is complete chaos, confusion and disorganisation. Even with the very limited clip.

You could easily see these guys running away in fear and terror forgetting many a time your best defence is in attack.

That and more, the soldiers were lying down because lots of bullets were being fired towards their positions, it is normal human nature to avoid danger, it can also be used against the terrorist. If they are given the notion that those soldiers won't stop resisting, they will reconsider their strategy. If enough bullets is fired towards their positions too, many of them would seek cover.
That is exactly the reason why one of the soldiers was asking why they haven't fired RPG. If about 50 RPGs were fired by the troops towards the position of the terrorist, trust me it will have a psychological effect on them and they might retreat.

When you are pinned down, how will you raisr your head to aim and fire a RPG.

You may loose your head.

But if from the start thier formation is wrong, the vehicles soft and armoured aren't in any formation for defence or attack.

Just all vehicles bunched up, as if they decided to stop for lunch and were all of a sudden taken by suprise.

Then confusion and chaotic responses will take over.

In life it's not always what you go through but how you go through it.

If you want to know how well you can drive let armed robbers chase you first.

When you train and train and train it's to change your natural impulsive reaction to a controlled and purpose driven one against the enemy.

That training creates a right responsive attitude to a dangerous situation.

It is bad tactics from the Nigerian army. They are behaving like untrained Chadian soldiers.

You don't fight like that.

Soldiers should first disperse. What this does is it makes it harder for the enemy to target Nigerian troops, and makes it easier to respond to the enemy.

When you stack at a place like that, and the enemy is determined, the body count of the NA soldiers would be so high.

It is because of some of these bad tactics own troops lose life and equipment.

That looks like a twin barreled anti aircraft gun. I don't know the caliber but it can't be over 20mm. It's not stabilized, and has no optics I can see, so accuracy can't be all that good. It's however very powerful at short range and looks like a Soviet piece of hardware.

However, it's these kind of gun trucks that really humbled Gadaffi during the Chadian-Libyan war.

The NA is short on training. They need a reorientation in ConOps and OrBatt. I've emphasised this over and over again. Some times, it's not the absence or presence of equipment that determines engagements but technique vis-a-vis your response. As an e-warrior cheesy, one of the things I noticed from that short clip is that they know the direction where they are being shot at, why are they not responding towards that direction? I would also want to say that this doesn't look like an ambush but possibly a sneak attack. Mehn! It's not easy at all sha.

A video on twitter shows the new hardware from China on their way to the North East on the Kano /Maiduguri Road.

They should please start this operation. The Lake Chad basin is quiet and these guys are still moving massively around through the cattle routes.

I think the Airforce needs to observe our map cattle routes and monitor the movement of these guys with a drone.

One RPG fired by the terrorists on one of the vehicles and most of those men are lost, this is what happens when they send guys with basic infantry skills alone to the frontline. I wonder where the 72 MSF guys are.
Buratai will lunch a derby style offensive for a few weeks and return to Abuja. He is just trying to save face.

Moody set to host Nigerian AF training

23d Wing Public Affairs / Published April 16, 2020

MOODY AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. --

Air Force officials announced April 10 that Moody Air Force Base will host a stateside mission to train Nigerian Air Force pilots and maintenance personnel on the A-29 Super Tucano aircraft.

This temporary program will fall under the 81st Fighter Squadron, an existing A-29 Light Air Support training squadron that currently trains Afghan Air Force personnel. This program will ensure the Nigerian Air Force receives the support and training it needs to safely and effectively employ the A-29 aircraft.

A-29 training has been conducted at Moody for the Afghan Air Force since 2014. Mirroring training for Afghan partners, U.S. Air Force advisors will provide flying, aircraft maintenance, and ground training device instructors and operators to support training of the Nigerian forces.

The new mission is anticipated to bring approximately 100 additional personnel to Moody, including Nigerian military, civilians and contractors required to support training on 12 aircraft. The program will train an initial cadre of Nigerian personnel, to include both maintenance personnel and pilots, who will become instructors.

The additional A-29 aircraft, procured by the Nigerian government, will in turn train additional personnel on this weapons system to conduct offensive and defensive fires operations and reconnaissance and surveillance operations throughout Nigeria to combat terrorism.

Under current plans, the aircraft may begin to arrive at Moody AFB in the summer of 2020 and the unit is planned to become fully operational in the winter of 2021.

Whether he announces it or does not announce it, it's of little signifance.

All reports irrespective of where you stand talk of a complete uprooting of Boko in the Chad axis.

Multiple reports of Boko fighters in multiple locations fleeing to the relative safety of Nigeria for them.

It's a nonsensical approach, what are you announcing warn the enemy before you hit him, that's ludicrous. We know where the enemy is GET THE JOB DONE. For me it's unnecessary.

You don't win wars on TV but the battlefield Nigerian need no more talk but ACTION.

What's your situational awareness ❓ where is the fire coming from❓❓

Look at the terrain around you look at the height of the grass and shrubs. If you kneel down you can't see anything if you stand you have limited vision. Unless you want to fire for the sake of firing in panic and that's very ineffective.

If you climb on that big truck that gives you elevation but that truck is probably drawing the highest amount of fire. You probably get hit.

They have set themselves up to be out flanked by thier own positioning. They are in the "kill zone"
