How I wish this pandemic is contained. Let normalcy be restored. But, from the look of event, the lockdown may be extended. |

May God save us from these our leaders. Something sinister is going on and only God can save us. The Nigerian government could care less about its citizens. Trying to save themselves at all cost, forgetting the ones they were meant to protect. |

FX2BROWN: Good morning indeed. For two weeks all I have been asking of this goverment and asking the citizens of Nigeria to pressure their goverment on is a strategy to contain this pandemic, simple. The question may seem strange noting all the activity going on around the PTF and NCDC but I haven't seen anything like a combative strategy to tackle it. The situation in Nigeria is like a man who opens a shop and waits for customers to 'develop symptoms'. Is Nigeria going to be locked down till we wait for the last Nigerian to develop symptoms... A few days ago in two states search parties have been sent out to find those who may be infected. That is a positive step like a shop owner employing marketers to canvass for sales... However can goverment fashion out a proper plan to reach and effect the entire population of Nigerians to identify safe, vulnerable and affected communities, protect those without the virus and treat those affected. Where are the extension workers who handle our annual immunization programs that cover the entire country witin a few short weeks. Why can't they for example be mobliised to provide logistic support knowing they have serious enumeration data and capabilities. There are so many things that can be done but it appears the whole Covid thing is being handled in a bubble that is exclusive of all other capabilities. Like someone said yesterday. If you are going to exclude all other medical institutions, all other medical professionals and all other medical supplies how are you going to beat the pandemic. All over the world ALL hospitals, ALL doctors, nurses, medical professionals and all manufacturers and logistics companies are in the battle and in most cases are being over stretched while here the battle in being conducted almost in a clandestine manner despite the fact that the goverment is struggling. I just donot understand. Where is the strategy? This was not how the ebola crises was handled. Then the goverment had the sole responsibility for treatment but the wider medical community had far greater input in isolation, recording and reporting than it does now. |
