The Chinese are an amazing people. If you interest is towards exploits and business engagements which is even the main reason to learn language Chinese is good...

French French French- This is still okay because it will be very helpful to me n some African countries and more okay if you have intention of going to France. Aside that it us not a language of business and should be discarded if Intentions are for wider scope but limited...is okay....

Spanish: For what exactly...to learn this there must be a reason

Portguese: Same as above.

You can see clearly that Chinese beats all.....Mandarin...

Hausa is also a language of communication and business likewise the other but on Nigeria context English goes anywhere anyday.

That been said some with interest will likely go for chinese.

Finally@bolded I ran a quick check on your past post and authoritatively gathered you aren't Igbo and doesn't speak Igbo?

Why then will you open a thread and claim to speak Igbo just to create unnecessary tension on this yeye forum.... Moreover it is Igbo and rarely ibo

You are from Osun state...

Meanwhile Mandarin ( Chinese) is okay... learn it..

Chinese today is a great language for business.... Seriously emerging aside English...

Why won't it be difficult. You do watch Chinese movies right?

How do that sound to your hearing?

I think you should learn Spanish, right now it is along with Chinese that has the most potential for growth, with the difference that it is easier than Chinese. Is there a Spanish school near you?

Well it will be difficult if you are not within the environment of such language.

If you are in France learning french won't be hard because not only will they teach but you will hear nearly everyone around you discussing with that..

That's how it is..

Are you sure about what you are saying?
Let us strike a bet then. I am from Delta state.
Ubulu uku precisely, Aniocha south local government area. We call it IBO most often, thank God you said rarely.

Why pick Chinese?

I don't have intention of leaving my state, in fact my company is here, this is my headquarters, and even if I grow tomorrow, I will still remain here at the headquarters. Only travel for visit and come back, I don't have intention of living somewhere else apart from my state.

I just want to learn it for the fun of it, and probably use it to communicate on the internet, it could also be helpful for my business negotiations on the internet as well. This is where I think Chinese will be preferable. I also see so many Chinese channels on my cable, I would love to watch those movies in another language. Generally I want to learn it as an additional skill. Even French and Spanish. Hausa and Yoruba also.

Who knows where it could come in handy in the future.

No bet for now.....I saw your name there...olorun something..

Now I chose Chinese based on Nigerian factor. Even the government today wants to borrow their asses out from Chinese government.

Secondly I don't know if you are into business or collar job because I based my point on business aspect and trades somehow revolving around Chinese of recent. Learning that can offer you more advantage on interaction with them because even Chinese are more also in Nigeria. Language of benefit and not just for learning sake..

You intend to be multi-lingual in the real sense of it....which is good.

Business-wise, mandarin is it then.

I want to go for French, Chinese is very difficult, I found even the native language speakers, have difficulty in writing Chinese because it has a lot of alphabets ranging to 2000.

I don't want to waste my time, I want something I can play with easily having fun at the same time.

For a Nigerian who speaks English it may be very difficult, and it is going to be very easy for a Japanese because the two languages are related.
